  1. garbage

Edit: Sorry, this "method" didn't work when I tried it again. Now I have my own little 2x2 block sitting around. If I ever figure out what I did last time, I'll edit this again. SC4BOY - yeah, there are a variety of things that could be happening, but what I have looks just like the screenshot above. Old post: I'm pretty sure I was able to get rid of the eternal 2x2 block by rezoning a large landfill including and beyond block itself and then dezoning the entire thing, but it only happened once to me and it was a long time ago.
  2. One way streets

To add to what beebs said, I have also found that it is not possible to drag a One-Way road from/to an intersection which currently involves BOTH a street and a road. A four-way street works fine, though. To get around this (as I am usually trying to pave over the road with a one-way road while leaving the street intact) I either pave road over the streets at the intersection, just one square in every direction, or I bulldoze that intersection altogether (using zone view to not bulldoze all my buildings due to my shaky mouse ...) and rebuild after placing the one-way road, as SC4BOY suggested. As for changing a one-way road to a regular road, I suspect that similar issues arise. It tends to be remedied by avoiding streets at the intersection itself.
  3. Edit: Sorry, I recreated the situation and was unable to reproduce the results I got last time. Sorry! There's another thread around that has various other solutions. Sorry to revive a month-old thread but I think the 2x2 landfill problem is not just a decomposition issue - it's definitely a bug. I had the exact same thing happen to me, and I remember waiting years and years and nothing happened. I eventually got it to go away, but it was so long ago that I can't recall exactly what I did. But if my memory is correct, I dragged a large empty landfill over the offending 2x2 block (like a 6x8 size) and then decommissioned the entire thing (the 2x2 block magically disappeared as if it were empty as well). If you're still having this issue and the method I just mentioned doesn't work, I can try recreating the situation with one of my current landfills and figuring out what workaround I found.
