Chicago, Illinois (a handmade replica of the real city)
ardecila replied to adambrown14ADAM14's topic in SC4 City Journals
I've BATted a new Smurfit Stone that should come out soon. It has full night-lighting and you can see inside some of the floors! I just gotta get a mod to delete the old one. The guy that BATted the Water Tower Place is AWOL at the moment. I'll see if I can contact him so he can send me the model, and I'll fix it myself. -
Swamper: Actually, the sounds aren't stored in the AB file. Just like every other sound, they are XA files in sound.dat. The .abk files only connect driving parameters to their respective sounds. All you'd need to do would be to find the proper XA files and replace them. You'd just have to comb through them all. Oh, wait - try checking the IIDs referenced in the Ambulance's SFX properties. overlordr1: This should do: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?mode=files&filetype=Lot&Str=beach%20modd I use the Grass beach in my Chicago. If I need a sandy/mud beach, I just use a set of sand/dirt tiles that I made easily in the LE. As for the breakwaters - I thought they were replacing those with seawalls, made a hell of a racket at Montrose Harbor - there are some Japanese breakwater lots you might find useful.

Hey, Glenni. Glad to see you're being *slightly* more civil. At any rate, your Norwegian stuff looks interesting.

Chicago, Illinois (a handmade replica of the real city)

Nice to see you using my BATs! (Water Tower) Don't forget to plop my Reliance Building at the SW corner of Washington and State! I have another lot coming out in the next few weeks. You should find it right up your alley. The city looks great! Nice to see another Chicagoan taking the initiative and making a CJ! -
Snow as precipitation, no. There are terrain mods that will give your mountains snowcaps, or you can make your terrain all-snow, like Antarctica. But no, there is no snow yet.

Trapezium Style Terminal Building

Yeah. The shadows are strange, because the SC4 engine actually has to draw them itself. You can't really view them outside of the game.

Yeah, but with your output, it would qualify as a full-blown renderfarm!
-
-
Daaaaaaamn, DT! Does this mean you're volunteering as a render farm?

OK, I'm back. All modding/BAT related work is not on hold anymore.

Guys, I'm gonna be AWOL for the next 4-5 days. After I return, I will be eager to get back to my modding/BATting related work.

Poole, Diamond and Associates BAT Showcase
ardecila replied to geoff_diamond's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Automata are the vehicles, pedestrians, and animals in the game. The upcoming lot will generate a new type of vehicle, never seen before. -
Poole, Diamond and Associates BAT Showcase
ardecila replied to geoff_diamond's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Right now, my time is divided between NDEX automata-making and PDA batting. I've nearly perfected the process for the automata-making. After that, I should be able to do more BATting, since the automata-making will only take about 1/2-hour per job. I will say one thing, though - I have something in the works right now. It will be a PDA release, involve automata in a special way, and it will come in 3 sizes. See if you guys can guess what it is - if you're right, I just may do a BAT request. king_arthurkom, you can't guess, you already know. -
Import from Autocad and 3dsmax for the interested
ardecila replied to Karybdis's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
You can only import 3ds files and dxf files. The 3ds importer f***es up the scaling, though, so I convert it to a DXF before I import. -
smoncrie: This is an interesting idea. What if you added connecting paths from the 45m endpoints upwards, to 46m endpoints, 47m endpoints...and so on, and the same thing going down? So the profile of the path would be like this:

Post Passenger and Elevated Rail Requests Here
ardecila replied to BigRedFish's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Yeah, but I've kinda taken her place. ATM, I'm swamped with NDEX stuff, not to mention stuff IRL, but eventually I'll start accepting requests. -
Eventually, I plan to BAT the Old US Post Office in Chicago. The Congress Street Expressway (which'll be either ground or elevated hwy) runs right through it. For some reason, the USPS decided to build a new facility 2 blocks south, so it's currently abandoned. It's real big (I'm BATting it to a size of 6x14). Don't quote me on this, but I think it might be the biggest single unused building in the city, with Pritzker Pavilion being 2nd. Don't worry, though, your Sims won't abandon the building.

Do you think you can do some nice Queens-style houses? I love your BATs so far. As far as I know, you're the only one making American-style wall2wall. And it's absolutely great!

Whoops. I didn't notice your other thread (coming back from a trip today). So you haven't had success with the DeepEx method. Make sure you only export frame 1 of your gmax scene. Also, it will export all hidden objects. If you don't want these objects, delete them. If you do, copy them into another scene and then delete them from the first. Make sure you only have mesh objects in your scenes. Delete the helper objects and everything else. As I said, materials come out all messed up. You might have to re-do these. UV coordinates remain the same, tho - you only have to re-do the stuff in the Material Editor. I use this method quite often. As long as you tidy up your gmax scenes carefully, it should work great.
