Town Hall, part of the Smalltown, USA Series by JBSimio As Smalltown grew from a fork in the road into a legitimate village, local leaders began to consider the idea of building a meeting hall. The more the area grew, the more necessary it became to have a place other than Edna Rausch’s basement to store important records and building permits. Unfortunately, simply voting in favor of building a town hall was the easy part. The debate over style and location lasted for three years. Some people wanted a clock tower that would fit snugly between other businesses on Main Street. Others wanted a building that would stand alone with graceful lawns and gardens. Still others thought Edna’s house should just be converted into a town hall. During all this bickering, the need for a police station became another hot issue in town. Finally in 1924, after years of delays, voters decided to erect a building at the head of the Village Common Park that would house all the official town offices as well as offices for the local police. Although some feel Smalltown has outgrown its once controversial structure, the building is still in use today, thanks to the ever watchful efforts of SLICH. Rather than rebuild, a small jail annex was added in 1967. Oddly enough, the first visitor to the new jail was a former record keeper. Followers of this series will all remember why she was not only fired, but also served a ten day sentence. The Town Hall is the fourteenth release in the Smalltown, USA series. This package contains a total of six different versions in two building styles. -

School Pack Vol. 1, by JBSimio UPDATED Nov 19, 2006!!! Although there was nothing functionally wrong with the initial release, this new version contains several minor updates. They include: custom queries added to Handley Lots, rotated lot for Parkside for easier placement, custom icons for all schools. Special thanks to Andreas Roth for pointing these out and providing the custom icons! If you choose to re-install this pack, be sure to remove everything from the first version from your plugins folder before installing this version. Welcome to Volume One of the School Pack series! This volume contains four different elementary schools, from the most rural one-room school house to 1950’s style grade schools. It also contains props used in this and upcoming packs. Future packs will feature additional elementary schools, high schools, private schools, and modular out buildings for additional flexibility in designing your school’s campus. But enough about my hopes and dreams… here’s what you get with this release: Lil Red Schoolhouse: A small one-room school for small rural towns. Handley Schools: -

Hammond Building, a SHUR Project release by JBSimio This is the fourth release in the Skipjack Historical Urban Restoration Project. Learn more about the history of this project here. The Hammond Hotel was originally built downtown in 1922 by Douglas Hammond. The city was booming at the time and Hammond was hoping to profit from the many travelers passing through the area. The building boasted elaborate stonework and grand entrances. It was also among the first towers in town to have elevators. The hotel went out of business in the early 1960s, but the building did not remain vacant for long. Although the building saw several owners and various uses over the next few decades, it was able to survive without the damage and decay of many other historic structures in town. When the Skipjack Historical Society began negotiations to renovate the building, they were pleased at how little work would be needed to return the building to its former glory. The first floor was overhauled and several shops were added in the front. The rest of the building was divided into offices and lofts. T he Hammond Building is inspired by a building in downtown -

Nofunk: The water tower looks great in the game! Can't wait until it's ready. Jason: One Woodward is looking reallly good. Stupid as it may sound, the giant fans are still one of my favorite features on this one. The rest of the building makes my eyes cross if I try to pick out little details! lol I guess maybe I should stop doing that. JB

Wow... thanks everyone! @pickled pig: The coverage radii for Maxis HS are 750 and 820 (small & large). Schultz (which is between the two in size) is 820, WHS is 1025, and CHS is 1200. A radius of 1056 will touch all edges of a medium sized map. So, no... you can't cover a large map... but let's not get carried away. :)

School Pack Vol. 2, by JBSimio Welcome to Volume Two of the School Pack series! Like many civic projects, we’ve had our share of delays and setbacks. Building materials were misplaced, the unions went on strike more than once, and structural flaws threatened to send one building into early retirement before it even opened. Fortunately a host of volunteers from the BAT Salvation Corps and other groups with interests in educational excellence helped to steer the project back into reality. This volume contains three different high schools, ranging from the large and grandiose to simpler functional styles. It also contains several props used in this and upcoming packs. This pack is designed to compliment the elementary schools from Volume One and sets the stage for a future Add-On Pack which will increase the options for your school’s campus. Here’s what you get with this release: Washington High School: A medium sized school with multiple additions over the years. Schultz Memorial HS: A smaller 1920’s school inspired by a middle school in Saginaw Mod Edit: Fixed broken description formatting. -
Welcome back from the land of "I don't know!" I missed a few updates, but things are looking good. Glad you're revisiting the texture on the Federal Building. I wouldn't be too afraid of the "eh" factor... it is an "eh" style of building after all! lol I love the textures on the water tower and am also eagerly awaiting that one. The Donovan is off to a nice start as well. JB PS... I didn't forget our converstation. I just was out of town more than expected. I'll be sending the model to you soon. (Do you want the textures as well? Most were temporary anyway)

That's very cool! Thanks for posting that link, T Wrecks... Congratulations to Nofunk and the others featured. JB

I see you've been busy! The water tower is looking very nice... all those texture adjustments are certainly worth it. The federal building also looks good. I'm still deciding if I like your new roof better than the old... but that's just me. Are you doing the base as a separate foundation or as part of the building? JB

The shingles came out really well! The wall texture seems to have a bit too much yellow in it, but I may not be remembering correctly. For the string of lights, are they just nite maps or do you have actual spots of some sort shining on them in some way? If they're nite maps (and if I understand you correctly) then I think by making them any smaller you'll lose what you already have. I think they might be small enough that you could clone and rotate a second set without changing the size, though. Can't help you with seasonal props just yet... but it's something I'm learning right now, so maybe soon if you still need it by then! JB

Another nice one, Spa! I really like the roof on this... makes for a nice change. It may just be the black background or the texture color, but the siding looks just a bit squashed. Maybe stretch the vertical just a touch more? I'm not sure though... probably why none of my wooden buildings have ever seen the light of day! JB

The neon came out really well, Spa! KOD lines up with some of the Smalltown stuff better than some of the Smalltown stuff! (That sounded a lot better in my head... lol) Nice work as always. JB

Nice Jason. Doesn't look like one I'd use very often, but that doesn't stop it from looking really good (as always) Out of curiosity, what's under the roof between the elevator shafts (or stairwells, or whatever)? Just something I've not really seen before, and I was wondering what it's for. I'd comment more often, but you and SimFox are usually talking way beyond anything I can comment on! lol JB

Those textures look great, Nofunk! I emailed you a fire escape today. The poly count should definitely be less than what you had going earlier. I originally made it to cover two windows per floor, but it scales pretty well if it doesn't fit your dimensions. JB

Come on, Spa! Join the single-wide craze... you know you want to! lol (I may even have a new one on the way) I like KOD... I'm curious to see if you'll leave it as "aged" as your reference or clean it up a little. It would be pretty cool if you lit up the neon, but I guess that will depend on how/what you do with the rest of the lighting. I'm also glad you brought up the setback thing... I commented there as to my typical standards. JB

You've been busy! The Federal Building looks great. Personally, it's probably one of my most hated styles, but it's done very well. I have a fire escape model that I can send you later this afternoon if you want to try it. PM me your email again as I won't have it on the computer that I'll be near by then. I'm not sure what your floor height is, but it's set up to repeat every 4.5 - 5 meters. Don't remember what the poly count is either... but if you want to give it a go, let me know. JB

Very nice little village, Jacky. Nofunk should be so proud when he sees that! JB
