  1. R$$ won't grow in established cities

Download the Census Repository Facility and use it to check your drives and caps for R$$ in your established city, because, frankly, there are many reasons for what you describe and without access to more information I can only respond with a shot in the dark.
  2. SC4 and Switcable graphics

I recall an older thread where a poster stated that on laptops, where there are multiple video cards and where the "game" card goes through the "normal usage" card to display things, SC4 will always choose to use the "normal usage" card because it lacks the programming to identify and use the "game" card. If such a case is true here, the only way to solve the issue is to directly plug the "game" card into the display of the laptop. However, I do not know how viable a solution this is.
  3. bronymlp Who's your favorite pony?

Power is beautiful, and she has the power.
  4. bronymlp Who's your favorite pony?

Twilight is the best pony, of course. And she'll tolerate the ever loving **** out of whoever doesn't agree.
  5. Icon issue? HELP

Nonny, that entails reading and understanding what you're doing. I am offended you suggest something like that.
  6. Kingdom Tower

Or, you can ask your query
  7. Trouble Updating SC4D from 1.1.610.0 to 1.1.638.0

Thirding the whole Steam suggestion thing. Excellent service, as far as these things go, and the game is inexpensive.
  8. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Have you thought about installing just the core NAM 31? Just don't check much off during the install and you'll get a simple package. In the end, I installed the simplest form of NAM 31 possible - then I went into the controller file and carved it down as much as I felt was safe using information Magneto gave me. The issue with NAM 31 is not the fact many things CAN be installed, it's in the ghastly massive controller file that is full of things that have absolutely no use if you don't use their related components. For example, RHW and SAM. Those by themselves take up over 90% of the 'simple' controller file's 40 meg size. Even if you don't use either, the game still loads everything in the controller file...and this add tremendously to city load time.
  9. Well, well... Forgive me if it's already been mentioned, but have you uninstalled your video card drives, then reinstalled them? Are the black and green boxes CONSISTENT where they appear? As in, a green box ALWAYS appears on the hospital lot? Is it possible your video card is overheating? Speccy can help you gauge whether or not that's the case. Do you have visual problems in any other game? Do you own the disk version, or the digital version? If the former, what's the your .exe's version number? (The executable is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps for x64 windows, C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps for x86 windows. Hover over the .exe to see the version number.)

My computer eats SC4 alive (...relatively speaking) with how much optimization I've done with my plugins suite, so no performance problems per se. However, NAM has for years been loaded full of things I have never used. NWM, FLUPS, RHW, etc...to be frank, unless it's specific to the Maxis networks I've never played around with it. Each new version adds more features, and yet, more start up time, memory usage, etc. Hell, the newest version of NAM forces the 4 gig switch down your throat! Good lord, I use NAM to improve the experience not bog it down in unneeded code! If I had the knowledge, I'd go into the controller file and rip out everything unrelated to the Maxis networks. Alas, I do not and I seriously doubt guessing will make a stable product. Thus, I am curious that you're making your own RUL controller. What features do you plan on keeping? Which ones do you intend to drop? Dare I ask if I may assist? Yes, I did just admit I'm woefully ignorant about how the RUL files work, but much like a dog I am trainable. And a trained dog, simple though it may be, is useful for a variety of basic tasks.
  11. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Are the older versions of NAM still somewhere for download? Version 29 to be specific. It's a long and sordid thought process as to why I want it, but in short I concluded that I need nothing newer than 29 and that it may not have a minor bug that's present in version 30 which I currently use. And no, before anyone asks I have no interest in NAM 31+. My goal is functional simplicity, not complexity. True, it might be a fool's errand - trading one bug for another is not a good game plan - but I at least want to try it.
  12. I've never understood people who seek help for a problem then abandon trying to solve the problem after the first couple of attempts at fixing it fails. That said, could be a driver issue, could be failing hardware as Nonny mentioned, could be overclocking that's stressing the hardware, could be mal/crapware that's sucking up the resources that would otherwise be dedicated to the game... Nonny, He has no high definition buildings in those screenshots...all Maxis.
  13. Green Grass layout...?

This terrain graphics replacement mod also replaces the grass texture on Maxis lots. It makes things green. Very green. Much like the greenness in your picture, in fact. Do note you must be registered on the LEX to be able to actually download the file.
  14. Hotel Summerland

Very pretty. Solid lotting work and worth the effort needed to grab all the dependencies. I'm glad to see SHK's Parking Pack getting more use, too, since it opens up so many possibilities for parking lots.   I hope you're planning on making more lots, C.Scott.   One recommendation: Put up a night picture.
  15. Help with growables

What tileset a lot grows on and other special occupant properties are defined in the "OccupantTypes" property. That said, the American Foursquare series grows on all 4 tilesets.
  16. The National Museum of American History

I have mixed news. 1: It does appear in my park menu. 2: Querying it causes the game to crash. I'd say, overall, it's broke as Hell. Horribly BATted and lotted, too... You'd do better searching for other museums here or on SC4devotion. Both sites have a litany of great museums of various sizes and architectural persuasions to fit your fancy.
  17. SimCity 4 RH problem

I have good news: You don't have to worry about this topic being in the right place because you're a pirate, and there's no right places to ask pirate questions on the site. It should come as no surprise you're having the issues you are, though. Couldn't even find the board for the game you're stealing...
  18. Corrupted Cities?

    Hmm, looks familiar...
  19. I have the same missing underlay texture for Grow Tech, and I spent several hours going 'round and 'round checking dependencies. According to Datanode, it does in fact use an underlay texture...just not one I've not found. It may be that the underlay texture for this lot no longer exists...
  20. Bat and normal buildings bug

Remember: Read the Freaking Manual. It'll save you a lot of agony, not just in SC4, but in life. </Nonny>
  21. Bat and normal buildings bug

Nevermind... We're fighting a war we can never win, Nonny.
  22. Happy Holidays, and Tenth Anniversary!

First post! I mean...uh... Happy 10th birthday, Simtropolis! Thanks to all the posters and uploaders who've made it worth going to all these years! I would've stopped playing SC4 a long time ago were it not for this site. Here's a toast to the enjoyable past, and to the exciting future.
  23. Roads in clouds

That is the most beautiful error ever...
  24. Hmm...more subways. The traffic simulator gets better at figuring out where to send people when there are more subways. Have you installed the Census Repository Facility, yet? It might just be you don't have enough jobs for someone. Demand tells you how many more residents want to move in, however, it is not indicative of if those who move in will have jobs. I would recommend against rezoning anything until you have more information available to make your decision. Otherwise, whatever you do to try to improve the situation will be a crapshoot.
  25. Subways are good...but do you have the to make them useful? Vanilla game has terrible pathfinding...sims can't find jobs around the corner, let alone across the city. If you want to know almost >exactly< how many jobs you have compared to your residents, get the Census Repository Facility. The information query shows the number of residents you have, and also "Drives", the number of each wealth type ($, $$, $$$) your city can support based on the jobs in it.
