  1. Fire Department Headquarters

    Version 3.1

    8,147 Downloads

This is my first ever lot, a custom headquarters fire station. This type of fire station is very common, and is great for those of you who like El Cheapo Modern architecture - efficient and beauty-free! Stats: $5,000 plop cost, $800/month and entire-large city coverage with six engines (they correspond to the station's bays.) You should have all building prop sets just in case - I have some cars put in for the parking lots. Plop this in the direct center of your town - but do have other stations around in case of traffic delays-wouldn't want your city burning down! Comments welcome!
  2. Bus Stops

There's no effect of the pipes on the subways. They are both considered different "layers" in a sense; and your pipes are not visible when you're laying track and/or stations. -Seth
  3. Simtropolis Site Bugs

I'm getting it too. Does anyone have a success with the search from different browsers? I'm using Firefox 3 on Linux. -Seth
  4. nbay Police Administration Building

I also find that it makes an ideal small-city or town town hall too. If only the name changes would stick! (This happens with some custom lots)
  5. nbay Police Administration Building

This station is a lifesaver for my cities. Absolutely love it.
  6. American Fire Vehicles

So incredibly detailed; I love how they handle in my cities, and the details are superb! They have sounds and custom lights! How can you get better than this?
  7. BSC Peters Pipe Company

This has made a great addition to my industrial districts.
  8. Rowhouses

I've actually had pretty nice results (I think I DLed some of the rowhouses but I'm not sure) by zoning medium density in narrow strips. Usually I do rectangular blocks - whether on streets or roads, and the blocks have two tile width. I've gotten lots of rowhouses that way. Will try to provide pictures later on. -Seth
  9. P9 Aalesund Hospital

Looks great, it's going in my city!
  10. Super Cash Park

A godsend for my style of play.
  11. How to run SimCity 4 on Linux

I'm running Ubuntu 8.02 with Wine 1.0. SimCity, after the CD headaches, does run. There's the occasional flicker I have and stuff. I have 2GB of DDR RAM, an AMD Athlon 64 (3200?) processor and many, many GB of hard drive space. I think I've run into a plugin limit. I'm able to work right now with my plugin folder at about 324.8MB (this is apparently including documentation files too) No matter what kind of file I add, whether it is a vehicle or a lot, the SimCity actually crashes on exit. (I am able to use the file in the game, but exiting is a whole other matter.) Indeed, bizarrely, when I exit I actually have to go into my second desktop to get to the System Monitor so that I can kill the SimCity process. I don't know what the problem could be, really. This problem is definitely solved by reducing plugins, but it seems to not matter which plugins they are. I cannot seem to find where the Datpacker is, on top of this. I don't know if it would help me, but it's worth a shot. Anyone have any advice? I'd be very grateful. Else I just will have to suck it up and maybe find a way to kill SimCity when I'm ready to end my gaming session. -Seth
  12. DK1 Fire Station

Very realistic! Wish I knew how to do night lighting like that!
  13. American Fire Vehicles

These are sweet. Am downloading this!
  14. Fire Department Headquarters

Heh heh I have to see what the deal was with the extra station. I made this at least four years ago and just now got SimCity 4 reinstalled under Linux. So this'll be a nice rainy-day thing as a reward for completing grad school.
  15. how to modd the ships?

Heck, me, I'd like to be able to add different types of ships, and more types of trucks and stuff. Is this really possible? -Seth
  16. Operation Buffalo Wing: A Blizzard of BAT

This is so exciting! I live steps away from all these landmarks too. (I live in downtown Buffalo) Is there a place which has the links to all these in the STEX? I must have them all! Or do they have a common keyword? -Seth
  17. War Memorial Auditorium Buffalo NY

I think it looks great! Just needs a little more concrete around the edges - 9-worthy for me! Awesome job! And yes, that roof is very weird. It's actually kind of a rubber roof, and in high wind would sometimes peel back.
  18. HSBC Arena Buffalo NY

Absolutely perfect! I live less than a mile from it, and you've done excellently!

  20. Modern Fire Station

    Very imaginative design, says I!
  21. Fire Department Headquarters

OK, costs are dropped to 5,000/800 - hope it works!
  22. Fire Department Headquarters

OK, let's try a price - do you think $5000 plop cost, $800/month is fairer? The reason I charged such a high price was that realistically you can cover an entire large city with the one-time 10,000 and the 1600/month would be equal to just over 6 regular stations' costs.
  23. Fire Department Headquarters

OK, I'll post those too and see what happens! Thanks for the tips! I was confused about all those different files!
