17 points"Let him remember an ordinary girl, and hear how she sings. Let him preserve the Motherland, same as Katyusha preserves their love" - Katyusha, Lyrics This is a short entry, but to fully experience it I'd like to ask you to play the song in the video while looking at the pictures. The song Katyusha was played often in Leningrad to encourage the army and the population. Can you feel it? 27/9/1941 - The "Bridge of the Kisses" crosses the Moyka River and takes Glinki street to the back side of the Naval Museum. At the front door several trucks are being loaded with legacy guns and rifles. The shortage of weapons in the Red Army is so alarming that even flintlocks and muzzle-loaders are being taken from museum walls. As we scroll down the picture we find another example of a roundabout turned into an anti-aircraft post. Everyone in the neighbourhood has got used to the noise of artillery fire. After two months of war, this sound is now part of their lives. Most volunteers from "The Popular Draft" didn't have proper weapons or ammunition. It was common to see unarmed soldiers waiting for a colleage to fall in the front so he could get his rifle and keep fighting. 28/9/1941 - A 200kg bomb has hit the right wing of Nicholas Palace. This once marvelous and luxurious building faces its second catastrophe after the Bolsheviks destroyed some parts of the original construction and renamed it Palace of Labour. Disclaimer: This CJ includes original photos taken during the siege. To my knowledge none of them is protected by copyright, but if I were wrong I'm happy to delete any picture that infringes the law. ----------------------------------[CREDITS]---------------------------------- This update has been automatically scheduled because I'm traveling. If someone commented the previous entry in the meantime he will see I didn't answer to him in the replies section. I just want to let him now it was not intentional and that I'll come back to you in the next entry

8 pointsWelcome to Amesbury! Okay, so, in the prime universe, we might not have a subway but our little 75k city seems like its growing faster again! The unemployment issue is solving, the residential demand has risen up. Politically, the Major, Davies, narrowly won the 5E130 elections - the People's Party of Cathnoquey is losing ground to the Federation Party, but only just. The Major promised more parkland, better pancakes, and the setting up of a major mass transit system. (Also more nuclear vaults). Let's go see how it all went! Traffic jams and donuts! Amesbury is becoming known for two more things : its excellent police record and the quality of its donuts - they sell worldwide now! In 5E130, Amesbury reached 75000 inhabitants. Doesn't it look big now? Can you tell the initial village from twenty years ago on this picture? Hickory Circle was refurbished, allowing for a pretty park within the roundabout. You can see a bus stop at the very bottom! A bus station was built at Central Station to accommodate the bus network. All lines originate from there, so it has to be able to handle heavy traffic at rush hour. A view of Septim Bvld, looking west. You can see the City Hall on the left-hand side. Buses are colored according to their line for easier spotting. Ever been to real-life Nottingham? Shamelessly stolen this from their city bus network! Then again they could put both tram and bus services on ONE map, it's not like it would be confusing >_> This is our initial highway exit into Amesbury. A new street was built parallel to it to divert some traffic, especially to link the more built-up areas on both sides of the motorway. Valenwood and Hammerfell are befell by proxy civil wars and the Migrant Processing Centre in Amesbury is one of five very busy centres for migrants. New suburbs are built to accommodate them, and along with a newfound economic recovery in the nation, a new concept is beginning to emerge in Amesbury and beyond : the Abecean Dream. There are more motorway exits around town now. This is Brownstone Junction, where one can change between the M2 and CR17 roads. A view of the CR17 highway between Brownstone and Wigston. Rural highways (1x1 roads) are a common sight where there's too much traffic not to separate traffic, yet not enough room nor money for bigger highways. This is Exit 70 on the M1. Also, it's a left-hand exit! The exit is not completed, and the northbound lanes are closed for construction, forcing traffic to take a massive detour into Amesbury. The empty area in the corner is just about to be developed. Amityville is right by the junction between the M1 and M2 motorways. This bridge carries Watson Street and is a major link between the inner city to its closer suburbs. To the right, you can drive by one of many low-rise office buildings. This one houses the local offices of Jet Postal, the national mail company, as well as the regional sorting office for Amery County. Meanwhile if you wander in the most built-up parts of Fairview Ley, you might just stumble upon this lovely row of little houses. They're actually social housing, which obviously lower the cost of living in this district. Talking of pretty spots in the city, how about some greenery? Didn't the Major promise that? More parklands was an important priority of the Municipal Council, so many blocks were razed to make way for squares and plaza. This is City Hall Park, which for a long time was the only park in downtown Amesbury. ...Did that Red Line bus just collide with a car at that stop by the University? Let's head north of downtown, to University Park and Maple Greens. This year, the University of New Technologies and Sciences, the major university in town, has attracted no less than 6.000 students! It does help that in Cathnoquey, tuition fees are affordable. Anyway, there's nothing better than an evening walk in Maple Greens to recover from a long day of stress and work. Like a square of wilderness surrounded by the concrete of the city. Sometimes, city planners even manage to combine greenery with efficient intersections. This roundabout on Burnley Av and Nirnroot Av became needed when Burnley Av began carrying more and more traffic from the new suburbs to the Highland Industrial District. Nirnroot Av is the major north-south thoroughfare into downtown Amesbury. The trees also help with noise and pollution, and that's always a plus! Nirnroot Avenue, looking north (with the motorway crossing in the background). High-density commercial development has spread along the road. Now it separates the low-density residential suburbs of Burnley Dale and Fairview Ley. It's also a popular late-night hotspot, with many cinemas, nightclubs, the local flagship BigBite restaurant, and even a bowling allee! But enough about intra-city transit and parks. Let's take a look at our favourite intercity mass transit option...Trains! A GoCargo train on a bridge on the Amery River. It's headed for the Industrial District. This is the central station, which for now only has two tracks. After all, only some through trains to New Wigmore ever call at Amesbury (that's still one each hour) This might change very soon though. More tracks, weaving through the cityscape... The station plaza as seen from a building close to the station. Oh my! Game publishing company and cheese making business Bobbelböck has settled in Amesbury! Back to freight though...This is the Highland Railyard, the major cargo hub in town, located on the line to New Wigmore. Trains here can go anywhere along the three main lines that link the country. Our brave cargo train is rolling through the southern suburbs of Fairview Leys towards the capital... Remember Exit 70? It's finally complete, but northbound M1 is still closed between that exit and the junction with the M2. Northbound traffic still has to take a detour into the town to continue their journey. View from a train in the railyard, this time looking towards the west. Some are calling for an integrated commuter rail network to link all the new suburbs, but the Municipal Council has so far not followed through. Here is a cosy street in Wood Heights, with the CBD in the background. It's still a very low-rise skyline for now - but this might change soon! And here is Wigston, a town north-west of Amesbury. Here, too, citizens have been asking for better links to the main town. This will need to be eventually addressed. Possibly, a ferry could link the town to Amesbury. To the north, the freight harbor is just as important as the railyard and a whole industrial estate has developed around it. Freight from all over the county is processed here, before boats carry it over the canal and all across the world. There are plans to move the Industrial Railyard closer to the harbor, however, but they would require massive overhauls and at such the project has been shelved. It is also predicted the complex might see at least a 200% increase in freight traffic as it becomes a lot more convenient and efficient - after all it would reduce road traffic in favor of rail. That's something else engineers would need to consider when designing the new harbour. There's also a passenger ferry landing in Aylestone! Ferries connect towns on the shores of Lake Amery together with Amesbury, leading the city to increase its influence. When Amesbury was picked as the seat of Amery County, it was a small and almost unremarkable village. It was a compromise situation when the County was created, as two rival towns in the new county were competing for capitalship. The Major took advantage of the situation almost twenty years ago to build her new town around the new County Seat. It was a successful gamble : Amesbury has just overtaken the first of these two rival towns, Ivystone, in terms of population and economy, and is very close to becoming the most populous town in the county. All it took was an energetic major and two rival towns far too busy to fight each other instead of taking advantage of an economic boom for a small village to establish itself as a powerful new town. The question remains though - is it a future proofed city or will it collapse as quickly as it rose? Amesbury City Bus! Do note the trunk lines branching out into the suburbs. And to conclude, here's a comprehensive street map of Amesbury, with all major landmarks and thoroughfares marked. And that's it for now! I dearly hope you enjoyed. Our next entry takes us beyond this map, across the countryside, to visit some villages in the vicinity of Amesbury. Thanks for the feedback, hope you enjoyed!

8 pointsNote: Greater Xylo is still active. 120 miles north of the Kellan Valley lies Oceanside, another thriving city in the Pacific Northwest. Despite its name, Oceanside is situated on the coast of the Columbia Sound. Oceanside is known for the very large amount of rain it gets every year. Since it is located farther north on the Pacific coast, Oceanside receives over 100 inches (2,540 millimeters) of rain from January to December. The city is also prone to earthquakes and volcanoes, like the rest of the Pacific Northwest, and is even home to a volcano of its own, one that some say is more dangerous than Mt. Rainier will ever be... Replies are at the bottom. WARNING! THIS UPDATE CONTAINS A LOT OF PICTURES! The sun rises in Downtown Oceanside, which is a big deal since clear skies in the wet season of the Pacific Northwest. Rush hour traffic starts to pour into Downtown Oceanside on the I-5, after all, the people of the West Coast do love their freeways. More rush hour traffic. Regional HQ of XyloCorp, an architectural firm based in Xylo. Downtown Oceanside is basically a cluster of skyscrapers and hi-rises. Medium-density residential development along the I-5. Light rail runs through downtown. Low elevation areas like this are been prone to tsunamis and river flooding, especially here since its on the mouth of the Chumash river. The shy Bank of America Building tries to hide behind the Chumash Inc. Tower. The main exit into the Pitch district, home of most major sports teams in Oceanside, as well as concert halls, arenas, stadiums, and shopping plazas. The Pitch is also home to the Sandy Springs Plaza. Now we are in Historic Downtown Oceanside, which is located across the bridge on Rocket Island. Historic Downtown Oceanside is known for its large, McMansion style houses. It is also known to be home to the first Ikea in all of Henderson. Oceanside High School serves more than 2,100 students a day, and has been serving the spoiled students of Rocket Island since 1898, which makes it the third oldest high school on the Henderson West Coast. Panorama of Historic Downtown Oceanside. Oceanside gets a lot of rain, which is what the Pacific Northwest is known for. Replies from "Update 28- First Nigh Shots In 2+ Years" jmsepe- Thanks! 7 pointsThe city's on fire!!! We need help! We have no fire stations! Oh man... So last update, I got yanked away from what I was doing by my adviser, who was panicking. I come outside to see smoke, and drive to the burning houses. What started this fire anyways? Citizen 1: Our gas heater, it exploded, and they're all on fire... Alright, get everyone out of their houses, this fire's going to burn. You, get some buckets, and you get your hose from the house. I want everyone, all of you to help! Citizen 2: It's overpowering us! Back away!! The house explodes just as he says that. Oh (4-letter word)! There it goes... It is a scene from hell. The mix of smoke from burnt house and trees fills my nose, children are crying as they watch their house burn with people going back and forth to and from the two pools (look in the above image) in a panicked, desperate attempts to try to stop the fire. The wind causes the fire to jump to the other side of the road... Citizen 3 (inside house): Hurry up! The fire's coming, get this stuff out! (Child: Mommy my doll!) I got it don't worry! Half the neighborhood is already gone. Can our collective efforts put out this fire? Some sims, in sheer panic run to their cars, and some stand with the few things they were able to salvage from their house before the fire got them. Citizen One: Alright, let that one burn, the fire ain't going to spread... (Scene from fire, people watch the last house burn down) The fire destroys the entire street, but the rest of the town is spared. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and we were able to rebuild: A gap where for some reason, houses wouldn't build. It is now a place where children like to play games like hide-and seek, and climb the trees! Good night! First traffic map of Woodland: City from above: -------------Western Expansion------------- A new road that extends west of the main town... This new area will soon have houses and farms, and will be dubbed the Western Residential Sector... Population is currently 875 Sims from this point on, and we're making a small profit, while barely scraping by with money. I wait a few months, then save up for...farms! We got massive Agricultural demand! It's farmin' time! Land is cleared for the new farms: New farms for more food: Woodland's very first water tower: Costing only $50 a month and pumping 1900 cu/mo of water. (Funding was cut to $10 for now) Several stores open up near the tower to make great use of the water: Industrial Relocation/Expansion I don't like the industries being so close to the main commercial/residential areas, so it's time to demolish! ----------Northern Industrial Sector---------- The new industrial sector is built north of the main town, away from the main city and with plenty of room to expand! mmmmmm...Yummy pizzas! I'll take one with pepperoni please! Yes, fresh from the farm materials taste amazing, their pizza practically slide off the crust A new block of houses are built to satisfy some of the high low wealth demand: -----City Beautification----- Our city's first park: A nice playground with a community garden: Another park is built at Central Square, consisting of a tennis court, basketball court, and baseball court. This also includes a new church just north of the park: Things are now great! We're making nearly $500 a month, population is over 1000 at 1,624, farms are booming, small shops/restaurants are opening and there are more things for the kids to do here! Next update, we shall visit the neighboring town (Woodland River Town) to pay Mathew a little visit (the guy that stopped the obliteration from last update) and make a few deals So yep, good times to come... ...And to think that I almost obliterated this town!
-
7 pointsThe people have spoken! We shall build more houses, and balance things out! We last left off, the population was 90, and the bank had $270 left: Let's see how that goes... So several new houses are built and...that happens...No profits, just negatives. Time to Obliterate! Let's go to God Mode.. And hit that Obliterate button... . Obliterate City! Good Bye Woodland Metropolis II! Bang! Boom! Flash!! (The flash takes out a few houses) *Ground Shakes* Just as the White Flashes start taking over screen, I hear a voice.. NO!!! STOP! STOP! STOOOP!!!! Before I had time to react...the door slams open, and some guy rushes into the room He takes my mouse and presses the escape button on my keyboard... The obliteration process is instantly halted. The city is spared. "What the heck were you thinking man?! Throwing away a perfectly good town without giving it a chance?" What else could I possibly do? I used up all my options! I'm out of money, and this city's gone. "There's always Option 2: Take out another loan. How about $10,000?" *Takes out loan* (The city is only missing four houses from the obliteration.) "Ain't that better? Now spend that money wisely and careful with your expenditures! You'll be in debt, but as Mymyjp said, more people, more industry and balance will occur quickly!" And who are you? "I am the proud mayor of Woodland River Town. As someone who started with 0 simoleons, I can tell you it wasn't easy, but the trick is, you need a lot of people. A tiny village like yours ain't gonna cut it. Mine's at 1,100 sims already and making lots of profit! In my economy, I run a coal power plant, I import coal from the mines, and sell power to two other cities for extra cash. I know you'll succeed, but trust me, you can't do this without a little help. I'll help you out, trust me and if you ever need power, let me know!" Thank you, I highly appreciate it! "No problem! Come visit my town sometime! I'll see you in another update!" _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With the money, we expand. A whole new neighborhood set of houses is zoned and built! Losing $100 a month, but still investing. We grow more houses east of the main farm. Along with that, several shops west of the main residential block. Despite being in debt, the city is blossoming. New houses grow and sims move in, especially families. More houses are zoned to be built: A large apple orchard is zoned south of the town, to supply the city with...you guessed it. Apples. Unfortunately, we're still at loss, so the taxes are raised to 10% temporarily... All of a sudden, I check the budget panel and find...We're profitable!!! WE ARE FINALLY PROFITABLE!!! Sure we're not exactly rolling it in...but we're making something! Another Windmill is added and new shops open up down the street now dubbed "Main St." Intersecting in a place called "Pizza Square" (Fun fact: Pizza is very popular here now, including waffles and pancakes. This town is currently known for its delicious foods, thanks to the fresh ingredients from the farms!) Well, things are looking much better. I can't believe I almost obliterated this town! Anyways, let's go over to...*sniff sniff* You smell smoke? Fire!!! Fire!!! And it's spreading!!! The game just threw us a curve-ball, and on top of that, we have no fire stations or fire brigade! Fires at this stage of the challenge can be very deadly! With no money for fire stations or brigades, what is the next action this mayor will take to save the city? Stay tuned for the next update to find out!

7 pointsWest of Downtown lies Little Paris, a quaint little neighborhood based on - wait for it - Paris. It's a great place to visit, spend a day when you come. There are cafes, parks, theaters... These images speak for themselves.
-
6 pointsBecause so much happens in this update, I decided to split it into two parts. Part 1 where we visit our neighbor town and part two where we return. Let's kick this update off with the first ever image of the region! ===================================================================================================================== A lush, fertile landmass surrounded by two rivers that join into a large lake north with a few islands and joins sea water south. More forests with small mountains are north of the river with a few small lakes. That tiny little town in the center...that's Woodland Town. (Note that every city in this region is on Hard Mode and started with ZERO simoleons too!) Here's an image with labels: Woodland is the main town, with River City West and North of that one is District 1 and South is Pleasant View. They are two smaller settlements that were started shortly after the start of Woodland Main Town. Why Woodland Metropolis II? What happened to 1 you may ask? This city is named after a city I built back in 2008 (7th grade) before I had a single mod. That was the original Woodland Metropolis and it was the first and only city to successfully reach 1 million sims with no cheats or mods whatsoever...Until now. (And yes I still have the city if anyone wants to see pics of it, it was a lot less realistic compared to this one!) Remember the roads that were built west of the main town earlier? To help with the high residential demand, we zoned houses surrounded by a large farm that people can work on: The north industries were expanded to satisfy the resulting demand: Now dubbed as the West Residential Sector. Population is now over 2000 sims, nearly double the population last update! We are also making even more profits! Enough that now it's time for... ==========Woodland's First School!============ After a lot of thinking and planning, we finally made the decision of where to place the school. The owner of the farm you see below allowed us to build a school in place of the farm, since it was run down and he wanted to clear land for a bigger farm for his cows. He produces dairy and apples for the city but he was going to tear the old farm and its dying trees anyways! We couldn't have found a better place for our school! The area is cleared for the elementary school: And a new school is built! Woodland Elementary School, complete with a playground, soccer field, basketball field and large field were kids can just run around and have fun! Here's a pic of the school during the very first organized youth soccer game (taken at 4:27 PM On a September afternoon) Probably the best investment, and very cheap too! It only covers the main city and east residents but not the west residents. A second elementary school is planned later. After the death of a few old sims, we finally opened the first cemetery: Families can now be assured their loved ones can rest in peace, and conveniently next to the church to where funerals are held. Traffic check... eek! 114 cars! It also seems that LOTS of people walk to work! Perhaps a railroad could be a perfect opportunity to get them off the grass sidewalks in the future? We still don't have the technology to pave the roads yet however. Population is now 2,836 sims...and we have nearly $20,000 in the bank! Also our loans are finally paid off! (image taken at 1:35 PM) Oh yeah and we built a third windmill too...But we're getting power outages! It was one unusually hot October day, and after complaints of constant power outages, I finally decide to take this into my own hands. I really don't want to build a coal power plant in my city. Seriously, I really don't, and the alternatives are far far too expensive! It's time Although there isn't an actual road connection yet, there is a path that many people take to get to Woodland River City. Me and my business friend (Hi I'm Ben) decided to cross. Alright...here we go! To the edge! We have crossed the tile border! Ben: "I need a bottle of water" Me: "Here" Ben: "Thanks!" *gulp gulp* Ahh..much better. Me: "God it's hot out here" Me: "I need to pee..." Here hold my suit case *Finds tree* *pees* *on phone* "It's ben, we're almost there." Mathew: "I'm standing at the bridge." carry on... I can hear water! We're almost there! We made it! Over the bridge... Matt: "You made it!" Me: "Man we need a road! Too bad we can't connect with streets" Matt: "And the weather is very hot for this time of year" Me: "Indeed" Matt: "Here get in my car, let's take a tour Around my city" =========Welcome To Woodland River City!========= A small booming industrial town that supplies power to other cities around it, a city that started from a loan as well. Note the power lines that go north and south. Pleasantville (South) and District 1 (North) both get power from this town! Me: "Woah! how'd you get these streets?" Matt: "That's gravel son, we figured out how to make it and pave it over the dirt! It makes the roads far more efficient. I can get a contractor to get some gravel into your city." Me: "I'll be glad to! We've been having a lot of traffic problems!" Matt: "Your town is getting very popular from what I hear, there's a lot of people who want to move in. I've had some of my citizens who want to get away from it all move to your town, but can't blame 'em, industrial towns aren't for everyone! I'll get you hooked up with some gravel." Ben: "Nice apartments! And what's going on over there?" Matt: "Thank you, and yes...with medium tile...not a lot of space to work with compared to large tile. Gotta make the best of it...We can't spread out but we spread up! Also yeah...another car accident. They happen all the time." Me: "I'd love some of those Medium R$ in my city! I'm going to zone some medium density as soon as I get bac-(interrupted..) Matt: "No!! Don't do that! Trust me, if you're having traffic problems now, your town will be choked with traffic with those apartments! Even mine is already suffering! You need some real roads first and none of us even have the technology for asphalt paving yet! Ben:"And are those...medium wealth houses? Why are these suit cases with red slashes on top of those houses?" Me:"Yeah...I was wondering the same thing, are they on strike or something?" Matt: "Don't remind me...Those are called no job Zots. Ack! My lovely medium wealth residents have nowhere to work so they got a little mad...and decided to hang a couple of those giant red slash suitcase signs over to make a "statement." I'm working on our first offices that should give these poor souls jobs, including manufacturing!" Me: "Hope I don't get those in my city" Matt: "Keep your traffic under control, and let your city grow naturally. These people moved in because they thought they had better opportunities but they're wrong. They might move to your city soon, so get some CS$$ and CO$$ built up so they have somewhere to work. Keep that up and you'll be just fine." Also, I can keep traffic under control thanks to my railroads, they keep roughly half the city off the streets! With only gravel streets, even then I still have traffic issues! The town is surrounded by large forests. We have a coal mine that extracts some coal in the outskirts up the hill: The coal is taken weekly by train to the coal power plant to burn and produce power. Here is the industrial area: This is where you'll get your power from! I got two cities depending on me right now! Also people from your city and my city like to sell their crops here from farms at the farmer's market (pic above). That's how it all works. Alright, it's time for the fun part. I'll offer 1000MW/month for $70 a month! Ben:"Make it $55 a month!" Matt: "$65 a month" Me: "$64 and we have a deal!" Matt: "Perfect! We have ourselves a deal! I'll send some power lines your way...you won't be needing those silly windmills anymore." Think of all the money you're saving... 3 Windmills cost $60/mo each = $180/mo for 600MW/Mo of power, and you're getting 1000MW/Mo for only $64/mo. Me: "That's a steal!" To be continued...

4 pointsThere's some big infrastructure projects that I'm just about ready to present, but before that here's an extensive look at the Trueno river as it winds its way through Gravenhurst, a suburban area of the Middle East borough of Pretoria. Gravenhurst highlighted in red: Overview: The opposite angle: The idea with having white rocks on one side and not on the other is that the rock wall was constructed higher there for added protection since that's where the city is so not all the rocks get covered in algae or whatnot. Meanwhile the other side is more natural and lightly populated so the rock wall was not constructed as high, if at at. I also think changing the appearance makes it makes it look more interesting. South end of the river: Now for some, or rather a lot of close ups The west bank is somewhat flood prone as seen by how marshy the area is, but thankfully as mentioned the population is quite spares on that side: North of Manitoba Island is the mouth of Taylor creek. This creek is is one of the many streams which outflow into the Trueno river. As with many(but not all) creeks in Pretoria it was built as the area was urbanized and turned into an underground river. Which is quite typical of what happens IRL in most major cities in NA. The mouth Taylor creek where it emerges before joining the Trueno river: Water flow is normally very low except during and after a rainfall. Unsurprisingly much like a nearby abandon rail tunnel in Lindin City, underground creeks like these are very popular with local urban explorers. A typical view from inside the underground waterway: As for the more populated east side of the river, it's well protected from flooding by the rockwall - more accurately called a riprap or revetment. The popular West Coast Trail is the gravel pathway seen running along the west bank of the river: The trail continues down Jessica St. halfway through the town instead of directly along the waterfront. The property line of homes on Jessica st. goes right up to the riverbank here. The city had no interest in starting a prolonged and messy fight with the smug rich people living here in order to continue the path through their backyards. Home values are approx. 30% higher then similar homes on the other side of the street. All just for a having a property fronting the waterfront. The trail once again meets the riverbank at the end of Jessica St. where it then goes underneath the Rustaway bridge which carries GWR's Midland Sub(currently used): The Midland sub. was the second railway to cross the Trueno river overall but the first to do so within Pretoria's current city limits. This rail corridor was GWR's primary north-south rail line through the region for almost 100 years - from the time it was constructed in 1858 until the completion of Vandenburg tunnel under Cisco Bay in 1956. 4 pointsMayon Province 2.0 Update ! Mayon Province got very crowded still there is development around in the Mayon River and the Ocean area ! Recently I decided to migrate the whole region into a new home to have some expansion space. Brock region by mkaustin on STEX seemed the obvious choice. This comes in three sizes so it isn´t to large still nice to work ! My congratulation to the creator of this region for his excellence to produce something wonderfull for the community ! Mayon Province migration will obviously change some or even a lot of the new map layout. Some volcano and flat mesas´s wich where in Mayon Province original map, will probably return in somekind of place. Industries current in Mayon may move out of town replaced by more residential and commercial demand. New cities will appear wich will require highspeed transport links. Ocean orientated resorts will have a name change to "Mayon on sea" a like because they will more be on a bay or lake then a ocean. Some offshore islands will be added . Still I am commited to keep some of the character of the chosen regional map alive ! Mayon Province 2.0 migrated into Brocks ! Today I ´v worked on the terraforming. Some minor issue with the resolution had put a bar on the lower side of each city tile. Samerton could fortunaly help me on the lounge to resolve this issue. Thank you Samerton for your assistence. Here todays work in full glory ! As you can see all is fitting much nicer together. Mayon peninsulla extended. Land bridge in between the now lake side resorts. Some changes to the islands. Mountain range extended to the north. Left side will stay as it is, some small rivers or some light or heavy hills but nothing more. City Journals for Mayon Province 2.0 will be in the kind of building up style so published journals will be on a more gradual basis of a Two weekly intervall can be Three weekly if there is some other project around but so there will be some more room for the creativeness ! Hope you enjoyed this update and hope to see you back in Mayon Province 2.0 CJ !

4 pointsReplies: michea95l: Thanks, I'm glad I inspire you and I hope you enjoy the game! Mymyjp: Thanks though I don't remember building any industrial plaza's lol. Were glad were surviving as well, let's just hope it can continue. Fine then you can have a job as ummmm, a incineration plant worker? Is that better? Entry 14: Gabtorians are strange. Well I'm going to jump straight in today with this image. Yup, as you can see we may have a more slightly pressing issue than the industrial abandonment. You see apparently, the Gabtorians working at the Prenston Freight Station have some weird ideas regarding resources prioritization as they point blank refuse to send any of the Oil or Ore imported into the area to the Power Plants (both the coal and the oil ones) until they are apretty much out of feula nd therefore running at like 20% energy production. As you can probably guess, this doesn't really help the city out that much and as the above image shows it's not so much rolling blackouts and a blanket blackout now. This required some drastic action! Luckily, some bloke from Norway offered to help us out by selling us some high tech wind turbines. Now naturally with our near enough entire reliance on burning stuff throughout our history, you can imagine that some people were rather sceptical about making power from nothing but hey, at this point I'd try anything! However first of all we need to actually make some money to fund these new turbines. This required what is probably the most insane stunt ever when it comes to city management, given that our taxes are already at 13% which is the highest we could get them before they started complaining. A complete cut in public spending! Yup that improved our income a bit and amazingly enough, didn't kill the population. In fact it started going back up. By a huge influx. So there we go! If your city is failing then cut all spending and it'll improve it's attractiveness! Anyway, with income flowing in from somewhere, we went ahead and built the wind farm off the shore of Gabtoria Point. These eight turbines provided the energy needed to kick-start the city again and with the extra power provided by them, we could remove the useless power plants that weren't working due to fuel shortages and replace them with more incinerators which will never run of resources! Incineration for the win as can be seen here in Sunwooton Industrial Estate where the old Coal Plant has been replaced with incinerators. Anyway while this was happening Nielton had apparently slipped in some planning applications that I had signed without reading as suddenly they started popping up offices in Nielton Heights and stealing all the Central Gabtoria high school graduates as can be seen here. Well we can't have that now can we so, as such I then quickly passed some zoning applications which may have had some significant tax incentives to get Central Gabtoria into the office scene. Which brings us to the present, which is where I leave you all. To ponder the whole intelligence of the average Gabtorian! Till then Crown Prince James (OOC: So yer, I have no idea why the whole no public services enticed them to come back (what with all the rolling blackouts) but there we go, CIM's are weird lol and I'm not going to complain. Entries may be a bit slower from now on as well as I want to start up a custom map thread so if you guys have any requests please drop by (when I've actually started it lol) and ask away! Cheers James)

4 pointsA few last mosaic shots of Cisco Bay before saying goodbye to the city for good. I'm quite happy with how free flowing the highway & rail system of the city came out: The next few entries will focus on the scenery around the Trueno river as well as some large scale highway & rail expansion projects:

3 points"And all the night the madman, poor, where'er he might direct his steps, aft him the Bronze Horseman, for sure, keeps on the heavy-treading race" - A.S. Pushkin, extract from The Bronze Horseman poem 14/1/1913 - The Embassy of Germany the day it was officially opened. Several members of the community criticized the Teutonic style of the building as being hostile to the architectural style of the city. 23/8/1941 - The impressive statues of Castor and Pollux were lost in 1914, when the angry crowd stormed the building and torched the throne room. Today the facade shows heavy damage from German artillery fire. Being used now as a hospital, the hole in the roof has been covered with wooden boards. Anti-aircraft guns and machine gun posts in the Northern shore of the Neva river. In the distance we see Saint Isaac's Cathedral and the Senate and Synod building. 15/7/1941 - Hotel Anglaterre. The First World War prevented its demolition when it was planed that the Astoria would be expanded mirrowing the existing building. Parked near the entrance there are three official Gaz-M1 cars. 2/8/1941 - The Senate and Synod building; a magnificent piece of architecture serving as storage for the Russian State Historical Archive. Just crossing Senatskaya Avenue we find the statue of Peter the Great, also know as the Bronze Horseman after Pushkin's poem. Oddly enough, the statue is aligned to that of Nicholas I and they are almost at identical distance from Saint Isaac's Cathedral. The Bronze Horseman has been protected with wood and sand. This was less risky than the first proposal, which was to sink it to the bottom of the Neva river, as had been planned at the time of Napoleon's invasion of Russia. 30/8/1941 - The Senate and Synod building as seen from the Neva river. To the top left of the picture we see the statue of Peter hidden in a great sandbox. To the bottom, a gunboat patrols the river very close to the shore. To my knowledge none of them is protected by copyright, but if I were wrong I'm happy to delete any picture that infringes the law. ----------------------------------[CREDITS]---------------------------------- I'd like to dedicate this entry to Odainsaker, whose feedback in the previous update has inspired half of the content featured in this one. 3 pointsAnd now for something COMPLETELY different! In a COMPLETELY parallel universe, the great war between Akavir and Tamriel resumed and, well, ended up in disaster. (While we're on parallel universes! ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1T94Wc6LyQ War...War never changes. In 5E132, a devastating nuclear war destroyed the world of Nirn. Tamriel, Akavir, all the nations of the world fell in one day. Cathnoquay was no exception. The world was a wild, wild wasteland. Rain turned black and radioactive. Civilization collapsed in a matter of days. After the Bombs, people turned to rioting, while some survivors left for the countryside. Trees survived, probably mutated, but they survived. Ayleid magic at work, maybe? In the suburbs of Amesbury, some citizens decided to stay. They foraged in peoples' homes and erected makeshift fortresses of their own. Law was no longer enforced of course, the military broke down, governments fell. The world of Nirn had become a wilderness, and Amesbury, through spared nuclear destruction, fell along with the rest of the world. Buildings decayed, and the eerie streets remained empty, except for foragers, scavengers, and a gang of raiders that established themselves in Crest Heights, claiming territory as their own. The Simtropers, they called themselves. But they, too, were forced out by something people had never seen, something scary, from the bowels of the earth... Right before the bombs fell, when the alarms rang, some desperate citizens took shelter in the incomplete subway tunnels. Only a couple of stations had even been completed, a testimony to the city's bright expansion, and its sudden end. But the tunnels had never been planned with radiation sheltering in mind. Ghoulish abominations, the very people that hid in the subway, have made themselves at home in the tunnels. Some are rational and civilized, but the majority is feral, and so very dangerous... Was there even still hope in a world decimated by radiation, societal collapse, poverty, and disease? In barely a few years, 99% of the world's population had died out; those that survived owed their life to sheer luck and survival skills. Sheer luck, I said. There was a nuclear Vault in the city, and some had been sheltered from the unforgiving wastelands. A few thousands were picked to enter the Vault when the sirens rang, but because of the short notice, only a few lucky hundreds made it in. Good thing this happened in an alternate universe! In the prime universe, Akavir and Tamriel did not use nuclear weapons (and the municipal council voted against a subway system); instead they waged proxy wars against one another in the less developed, less fortunate areas of the world (including Valenwood). Migrants from both sides flowed to neutral Cathoquey. Not that Amesbury specifically attracted all the migrants, but the State created five War Migration Processing Centres (WMPCs) in the country, and one was built in Amery County in 5E131, and some decided to stay. This worked in Davies' plans, given how residential demand was at an all time low...maybe not for long anymore. But was the prime universe really better? For after all, mankind remains destructive to itself and well, war...war never changes. --- Either way, I'm definitely doing the transportation update next, but I ran a bit out of time with my maps and hey I wanted to try something else, so here goes. Feedback appreciated as usual Bye! Thanks for following my CJ! Oh, and I realised I just fan-bridged both TES and FO in one update! Ha!

2 pointsSo where were we...? (click on images for hi-res full screen version) Me and my business partner Ben were negotiating on a power trade. We are the third city that will receive his coal power...(Warning: Very large image) On the Left (West) Is Woodland River Town connected by a bridge. On the Right (East) Is my city Woodland Town. You can see the power lines connecting right up there. Although WL River Town is an industrial town, it has the most beautiful natural trails: WL River's farming area: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We're back to Woodland Town! Our education system in effect: Anyone notice the our city's very first middle-class citizens? And we won't be needing these anymore! let's accept his power lines... There it is! And notice how our loans are long since paid off! We're also making nearly $600/month, and spending only $250 on education. Population is now 2,800 Sims. (We are about 997,200 short of our goal right now ) Capacity tops out at 1000 MW/M! Unfortunately, mayor Matt is overloaded with his coal plant and while he plans on building another, no one can receive more than 1000W of power at a time. We'll be building more windmills real soon! ==========SOUTHERN EXPANSION AND FIRST HIGH SCHOOL========== Lots of agriculture and industrial demand right now... What's this? Look at that, a tiny amount of manufacturing demand! We lay down new streets to zone farms south of the main town. The south industrial and agricultural sector will consist of only farms and an industrial area similar to the northern sector. Now we reveal the grand unveiling of Woodland High School! (WLHS) Home of the Tigers! Before the high school, kids went to elementary school until 5th grade, then they go work on the farm or industrial factory. Some few got nicer jobs selling cars or being the chef at the pizza restaurant or working in Waffle house. The luckiest and smartest few got a job at one of the two CO$$ buildings that paid enough for a nicer house! Thanks to the high school, people can go from 6-12 (it's also a middle school) and can either become farm owners or get more high wealth jobs. Unfortunately, due to the course load, most will drop out or only do elementary then work at the farms/factories. Tennis, soccer and baseball fields to complement the school: With higher demand, the first manufacturing areas are built: Completed factories: This area is now called South Manufacturing Sector. The city's first clinic! Yes it's not the maxis clinic but it monthly/construction costs, capacity and ambulance are exactly the same as a Maxis small clinic. This one will treat the patients in the main town. (Crash!) Whoa what was that?! Oh man... Massive accident in Central Square involving about 12 cars! Something needs to change! Thanks to Mayor Matt, I was able to get a gravel factory built! It's time to put it to use! Much better! Now we have gravel roads in the main area known as Central Square. Note the new offices being built down main street. These are the city's very first offices! The gravel roads extend to the south: Let's see the effects of the South Industrial Sector on the demands: Look at that! Lots of R-$ demand, some R-$$ and R-$$$ demand, and oh look at that, CO-$$$! Population is now 2,847 and we have nearly $25,000 in the bank. Our profits are growing! So to end this update, we find that our town is booming big time! We have two water towers giving water to the south industrial sector and the main square: Let's keep the good times going! So far this town was in debt once, nearly OBLITERATED, and almost burned down. It is becoming noticed as other towns start up across the region. Coming up next: Chapter 5! And for this update, I introduce a new feature to all my future updates called: ==========Comment Replies! ========== I will reply to all your comments/questions from your previous update in this section. This is for every update from Chapter 3 and on. Comment replies From Chapter 3: @Mymyjp: Thank you and yes the high school has a fire fighting program so there might be a fire station built real soon! @VonCheese: It'll be a very long time before this city hits a million but it will happen one day and we'll look back to these times with pride! Any how, 998,200 sims to go, we're almost there!! @ulisse: Paved roads are being researched right now but one of those new manufacturing factories built design the equipment to pave roads, so they are definitely planned. In the meantime, we at least have gravel! @MattHecker: When the fire fighting program in WLHS takes off and they graduate a fire station shall be built. And yes, very yummy pizza! @Major From Bajor: Will do! Comment Replies From Chapter 4 Part 1: @Sylvioj: Thank you! Glad you like it! @gviper: Thank you! @mpkio2: Thank you very much! That really means a lot to me! I will make sure no comment goes un-repied! I check comments daily so any for new comments from past updates I will edit and add to the update that follows it! Your comments all motivate me to keep going! Thank you very much for taking your time to leave one, it really means a lot! If you have any questions or comments, comment below and I will reply in the next update!

2 pointsFly the Skies- See The World Teddy City Intl. Airport Part 1 Welcome to Teddy City Intl. Airport. This beautiful airport is the nations largest and most beautiful. Here we will take a look at this amazing airport. Designed in 1999 and completed in 2006 Teddy City Intl. is a welcoming airport. In part 1 we will see just a few parts of this amazing structure. Jack Weber Terminal As you arrive you encounter the Jack Weber Terminal- A beautiful terminal, It features fountains, statues and more and is compared as Roman in interior. Amazing art work dons the walls of this terminal fit for a king. Based of the Kings palace and a mixture of Roman and modern all in 1, this terminal is a place to seethat confused many The National Airline for Teddyland is Taero Airlines- The new livery gets rid of the original TARROW that confused many over the years. Today the airport is based with its main hub here, its headquarters located in downtown Teddy City, The livery is a simple design, as a symbol of the nations humble beginnings. The concourse that holds the airline features a newly done glass facade, and painted gold like the livery. A remnant of the past- The old 1940s airport is now the administration center for the airport. After all- they had to do something right? Attached to it is the airport police facility, complete with holding cells, interrogation rooms and a CSI unit. The Freight Center At TCIA- Ordered something and asked for it overnight, well odds are it comes here- the Freight Center handles 67million tons a day of packages going all over the world- can you say busy. Well that's the end of part 1- don't forget to put your tray tables in there upright and locked position upon leaving the plane, and watch your step.

2 pointsFirst off few little mosaics of this quaint little town before we hit the road. long angle of the west bank: wide angle of the west bank: wide angle of the east bank: City wide pano: long pano; Now for the spaghetti... By that I'm referring to Spaghetti Junction one of the 3 largest highway interchanges in the region. This interchange is located in Lindin city which is just north of the city of Cisco Bay and west of Gravenhurst. After numerous delays the interchange has finally been completed. But I haven't finished putting together and organizing the photo's of it - definitely a requirement to get the full effect. Hard part is, the interchange is in two different towns. But for now, I have some interesting(I think) teaser shots. The teaser is not an actual in-game photo, but rather what the interchange looks like on the road map. First off the original version of the interchange, taken from entry 4: That equates to this on the road map: I wasn't too fond of all those extra little curves which were necessary since it wasn't possible(not at first) to connect diagonal highways to the next city over. This interchange was part of the RHW-IRProject seen in entry 4 Here is how the new and improved interchange looks like in the regional view: And on the road map: First the spaghetti part, the core section: And now in its entirety, it ended up being almost as long as a medium sized city: For comparison purpose's I added a map of the 700-709 interchange at the same scale which basically amounts to this image seen in entry 11: In game photo's coming up on the next episode of Pretoria, the metropolitan area. RE: Your Comments Mymyjp Thank you very much Trying to integrate the CJ with stuff in real life is indeed one of my favorite things to do. As for cities skylines... to be honest I've been avoiding following it too closely and therefore any CJ's on it. I don't think its at the point where its compatible to all the things SC4 has to offer - not just yet anyways. But more importantly I still have a lot of things that I have yet to finish with SC4. That sounds weird when you consider that I've been playing the game for over 10 years now, but its precisely because I've spent so much time and effort on it that I can't possible leave things unfinished i.e this CJ and my BATing project which I'll son reveal. Even if skylines suprasses SC4 much sooner than I expect, I won't still allow myself to be distracted by another simulation game until I'm done here. And I'm sure you can attest to this; its never too late to pick up a game. Schulmanator Thanks mate! Ultimate727 I downloaded the region off the exchange about 10 years ago, I don't know if its still on there or not - can remember its original name. But its based off a coastal area in Alaska. Yes I do generally agree about not using small titles. If might be tough to notice, but almost all the other cities on land in the region are either medium or large sized. Gravenhurst was part of an 8 small town extension I made to the region on the east side of the map shortly after I started developing it. I wanted to add more space for suburban areas since I felt the region needed it to make it look more realistic, but I didn't want to add too much since to be honest I don't really enjoy making low density areas. Kim Sunwoo Thanks for the regards, they're much appreciated as always. juliusCSR Awesome! Glad to hear I've inspired you. SylvioJ Thank you.

2 pointsREPLIES Thanks so much. I love the mix of old and new that is so prevalent in so many European cities. Thanks! I really enjoyed the way things were turning out with this. Thank you! That's a shame. I actually just had to upgrade my machine to get it to play the way I wanted. I feel that this game is the sequel city builders have been hoping for. The modding community is only going to get better and make better stuff, so I see a long life for Skylines. Thanks so much. Unfortunately, no more growth...see below. Update 7: An Unexpected Reboot It's been an interesting week+ for Skylines and me. Initially, I noticed when I was in the map or asset editor for prolonged periods, I'd get a Low on Memory notification on my machine. I have 8GB of RAM, so I was flabbergasted as to how this could be the case. Nonetheless, it didn't affect my actual city building. As my mod/asset library increased, I started getting more and more frequent crashes while simply building cities--it eventually reached a point where I couldn't even build on a new map without a crash after about 20 minutes. I scanned the error logs and found a lot of mods that were having issues/were broken. After removing them, I was still running into the crashes, but it would take slightly longer. After posting my issue to the Paradox forums, I started to look around the web to see if I could solve my problem with my machines current specs. Long story short: deleted all assets & mods. Game ran fine, but now all my cities weren't going to work. Turns out, I needed a computer upgrade. Luckily, I had just done our family taxes, and because of my child, we'll be getting a nice refund this year. I was able to upgrade my video card (to respectability), RAM, and power supply. That all came in on Tuesday. After installing everything and booting up the game, it ran like butter. I've installed a large collection of mods/assets again, kind of as a stress test, and again, smooth sailing with all settings maxed out. The RAM usage for this game is OUTRAGEOUS. I've gone ahead and bumped up the amount of vRAM my machine will allow, so hopefully that will help, too. Not sure if any of you are experts in computers, but I certainly am not, so if you have any other suggestions to optimize, I'm all ears. A thing I started noticing was the size of some of the assets. One building could be as much as 24MB. Most assets are around 2-3MB/asset. If you have hundreds of assets, that's GIGS worth of information your machine needs to process...and it appears as if RAM is the thing that does all the heavy lifting. I'm hopeful my extra 4GB of RAM will keep me playing smoothly from here on out...regardless of how much stuff I download (within reason, of course). I've taken it upon my self to avoid super large assets, save a few. Some are just too wonderful to pass up. Anything that's growable, for me, must have a small file size. Hopefully, this will also help manage my RAM usage. tl/dr: I upgraded my computer because it was pooping out on me, and now the game runs fine. That's why I've more or less disappeared over the last week. And now, as a reward if you read all that above: New Syrenity awaits... I love this map too much and was way too into the city to let it be simply another casualty of my tinkering.

2 pointsVista Del Mar boasts several technical and vocational colleges as well as a couple universities. These three represent the "Ivy League" of the city and region; prestigious, highly selective, and at the forefront of education, science, technology and innovation... Zamora University Aptly named for the hospital on its campus, this university primarily focuses upon medical education and technology... The university boasts a wild compliment of athletic programs and a state-of-the-art arena for its basketball team... The campus by night... Next up: University of Vista Del Mar The second of the triad "Ivy League" this university focuses on a broader scope of disciplines including: law, psychology, arts, and politics... Interior shot: (Study library in Ballard Hall) Even in the evening the campus is still bustling with comatose student's meandering their way to and from classes... Well, that's 2 of the 3 Ivy League universities...the last (and perhaps most prestigious of the three) I am saving for part II...Don't miss it!!!

2 pointsReplies: Entry 13: Kim Sunwoo: Nah we just stopped all services, don't worry its all good now! Entry 14: Mymyjp: Well at least with the blackouts we won't be able to see the failure half the time! See the bottom of this entry if you want to request a map complete with waterfalls (or whatever you want really!) As for the job, fine you can be our resident homeless person! Is that better? Kim Sunwoo: I'll remind you of that when Sunwooton needs a road upgrade lol. Don't worry though the budget cuts were temporary. Were back on track now! Yer I have been busy over the last week. 3 entries and 2 map releases but I'll probably have to slow down now (see end of this entry for why). Entry 15: Royal Wedding and oddities?! Well Harry here for a change! Prince James and his new bride are currently on a state funde... private honeymoon somewhere (apparently they were gonna play eny meany mino mo with the departures board to choose their destination). Now I know your all thinking that we haven't even heard that the prince had been dating and that would be true, no one had. Were also not meant to know that the new Princess may have been pregnant before the wedding but apparently half of the town did as they decided to through them a baby shower after the wedding service in the cathedral (not sure why a bunch of English people threw a baby shower anyway but hey, maybe its a tradition in Norway or something seeing as quite a few of our citizens are Norwegian nationals including the new Princess). (OOC: Wait damn she needs a name hmmm. Right got it!) Anyway speaking of the cathedral that Prince James and Princess Emilia got married here it is. Of course, given that these buildings are nearly always named after a St the obvious choice for our Prince was St James so here we have it, St James's Cathedral (that wasn't built, using the tax payers money, just for this wedding. Honest). Anyway here it is in all its glory, making up the north most point of Gabtoria Park, behind Château Gabb. Other than that we haven't seen that much in the way of growth though this did happen for reason s no one can quite work out. No one was more surprised than poor old Mr Kirby when he went to leave his house (luckily he wasn't hurt too badly). As we don't have much to talk about this entry here's a photo from Nielton Highstreet, one of the busiest places in the whole city (you can tell it me and not Prince James doing this entry can't you), and another image showing one of our lovely low wealth neighbourhood's complete with knock off Ferrari's or just really bad financial decision. And finally to finish the 15 entry we thought it would be cool to have a GIF of the overviews from the previous entries so you can see how we've grown up to this point (OOC: I think the timings are ok on it. I'm not sure how to fix the fact that the last image seems to reset faster than the others seem to change but oh well, I still think it works!).

2 pointsI know it's been quite some time since I have updated but I thought I would give a (sort of) quick teaser of what I'm working on.. The City of New Troyes is located along the banks of the Moselle River which connects the Minnehaha River to the ocean. New Troyes is the largest city in the country and the capital of the western region. The city has a highly developed and historical downtown with world class hotels and restaurant, grand museums and institutes of education, and is home to large venues and plazas. The western region was originally settled by the french so the french language and culture has a heavy influence on the city. The city is one of the largest french speaking cities in the world, with a population of 4.3 million. Here are some pictures of the downtown area: One of the city's tallest buildings, located on Rue Saint Louise, is home to several international banks and finance offices. The main financial district, the old and the new mix here, but it seems the city is switching the brick and stone for steel and glass Some medium rise apartments and offices located near the river Wealthy condominiums built along the west side of downtown The Milton Venue and New Troyes convention center The heart of downtown More to come!!!

1 pointHello everybody. I started this MD on SC4D and TSC sometimes ago. So i decided to share also my pictures here. 1. KOOKART: A little walk in the old town One of the best way to come in the city is to take the train to the Central Station. The old station was remplaced in 2002 by a new modern station. Here, you can take the bus, the metro and the tramway to go to every part of the city. Now, we are going to the City Hall. He was build in 1874. We continue to the boulevard. It is market day on the Saint Peter Place. A station was build in 1934 next to the Saint Peter's church. The construction of this railway line made some scars on the old city. The Vanackere Place, on of the most animated place of the city. The Parliament. Saint Joseph's church. Now, we are going to the high town. The atmosphere is different than in other part of the city. We can only enter by the Saint Anna's Gate The Cathedral of Our Lady. Saint Jean's Gate, the second acces of the high town. The station Kookart - Koninglaan, wich cut the street and the Congress Column. 2 more "global" views I hope you like it

1 pointHey hey! Still in Amesbury? Good! Because we've got high unemployment and low..uh, employment? Where is up on this chart?! Does anyone know what the numbers mean? Oh, the approval rating is going down. Well...let's try and fix that? As it turns out, Amesbury has too few educated workers! So we find ourselves in the weird situation where there is high unemployment (because the uneducated workers that used to work in factories can't get higher jobs), but also many vacant spots as companies desperately try to fill their educated spots. At such, the education budget was quite increased. Now, this high school is special though. Ghosts have appeared in the area! The school is haunted! Happily the city budget plans for pest and supernatural entity extermination. Hmm..this run-down fire station will do nicely... Who ya gonna call? Meanwhile in the south of the city, just to piss off the municipal electorate of the 5E125 elections, the roundabout was made a... squareabout. A statue of Talos, beloved Tiber Septim who first led the conquest of Cathnoquey, was brought in from Tamriel and erected on the spot. Quickly, complaints that the statue was facing away from the sun in the afternoons emerged. Oh well. But maybe the most shocking change happened downtown. In the last four years, offices were built, massively draining the educated workforce who were quite happy working somewhere else than at sausage factories. Leading to a lack of more educated workforce. But at least the economy is more diversified now, and that's a great thing if we want to attract more people and companies! There's a train station too, now, but we'll cover transportation in the next entry. Oh! A statue of industry! Makes cims happy and not prone to dissent. Besides, if cims WERE to dissent, look at the shiny new municipal / county jail! Newgate Prison is planned to host up to 500 inmates, mostly low and medium risk. Brand new city just hit 50.000 today! The Federal Government has begun promoting Amesbury, hailing it as the "wonder of the Amery Lakes". Amesbury has undergone unfettered expansion and for the sixth consecutive year has the largest population growth of anywhere on the island. But can it last? Unsure... for meanwhile in the southern parts of the city, more and more houses are abandoned as their unemployed owners cannot pay back their mortgages... And residential demand is sinking, slowly, inexorably... The new district of Amityville was planned to be filled with more offices, but investing companies became slower to move in... But maybe there's something new..tourism! The Amery Lakes are a popular vacation spot, and maybe Amesbury could become the tourism hub of the whole region with some effort. Look at them hailing Industry Allmighty! Ah..The sound of capitalism. Heh heh. Oh, yes, the dismantling of Crest Heights is complete now. Industry made way for offices. Maybe that's why unemployment went up now I think about it... But while the streets look empty off rush hour, something will need to be done soon about traffic. Maybe a bus system? Besides, the rural highways can only hold so much. For the outlying cities like Gilmore, a bus network or some kind of public transit or paratransit would be a godsend. Though, to be fair, life has been made easier for car owner. This is the new exit on the M1, serving Gilmore and the surrounding Amery County. A strange architect, only known as Timboh, is responsible for this one. Ain't it a beauty, though? And the city is already well on its way to 60.000 inhabitants. New university campus and a bus network : seems like the next step for the Major. Slowly, educated citizens manage to find jobs and fill vacant spots all throughout the city, and finally unemployment goes down... But the residential demand remains low. Still, out of trouble for now. Offices and more upscale commercial ventures are still happy with our town. Phew. Time for the major to enjoy some well-earned quiet time in the park facing the newly built City Hall. And that's it for now! Next entry I'll dabble in transportation! Finally! Until then thank you for viewing and for your feedback.

1 pointReplies: Schulmanator: Ummm, I have no idea what to do with the tux. I would advise against burning it though! As for the invitations don't worry we didn't invite anyone really, they just turned up! The wedding itself was a kind of quick paced thing though it had nothing to do with a pregnancy. Kim Sunwoo: Glad you like the GIF and see above for the explanation about the invites! Entry 16: A not-so-simple interchange! Right minions, I'm back from my honeymoon and ready to get back to work (and also make sure that Nielton hasn't tried some shenanigans while I've been away.) Anyway sorry for anyone wondering where there invites were, we may have had to rush things a bit though this has nothing to do with pregnancy rumours, honest! Anyway with us back the last thing I wanted on my desk when I got back was traffic issues. Of course this was what I got. Stupid traffic. Right screw it, if were going to have to change up things we may as well get it done with. Where's the issues to this time? Fair enough, given that this is on the way to Central Gabtoria and it's growing industrial area we should probably sort this out quickly. Right time for a simple interchange and road widening fix. Firstly let's reroute the traffic again and disconnect the old highway. Unlike last time this definitely didn't help traffic flow out. Anyway, with time now of the essence due to the horrendous traffic issues caused by the re-routing lets get to work. First thing let's decide on a actual interchange type (given that we want this done quickly some prior planning may have been a better idea). Anyway after some head scratching we decided to just wing it and try to make sure that all the roads were connected. Several months much concrete and some digging later we were at this stage. I think we may have thrown the whole simple interchange idea out of the window. It's also pretty large for the area but what the hell, I'm sure we'll appreciate the capacity when the town expands. Anyway fast forward another couple of months and we have a finished simple 4 stack interchange! (OOC: Damn these things are complicated to get right!) Oh well, at least it's fairly compact and works well which is the main thing! Looking around however it seems that we have other smaller traffic isuues in the city (this time they really are smaller). First up was a road widening for the rather ugly interchange that links the oringial part of the city, Riverside and Gabtoria Point to Nielton and the Prenston Interchange. At some point we will have to rebuild this thing, for now though it's staying (I'm sure continually putting it off can't cause issues right?) Anyway the other issue was in Sunwooton Industrial Estate where some of the crossing were getting a bit jammed up. This was our solution though were not sure how long it'll hold out. And finally for this entry we actually named the buffer zone between Nielton and Gabtoria. Welcome to L'nxham. Apparently it also managed to slip in some pretty serious planning applications that I approved as it seems that a rather large portion of the small neighbourhood is office space and I'm pretty sure they're putting in more applications all the time (note to self: Keep eye on L'nxham as well as Nielton, it may be a conspiracy!) Anyway that's all for now. I've got to go and mark all Nielton and L'nxham planning applications as suspicious and take a look at some buses finally in an attempt to stop Harry yelling at me constantly. Till next time! Crown Prince James (OOC: Turns out my wimple interchange idea wasn't so simple in the end. Still I really like how it turned out anyway so it's all good. Also sorry for the small entry but as previously stated things are a bit hectic in real life at the moment. Also apologies if you hate traffic entries. I'll try and do some more non traffic ones soon. Also sorry for saying sorry so much. Shut up James) = http://info.flagcounter.com/QTSG]

1 pointHello everyone! I hope you are well. As far as spring days go, today was a good one. In local sports news, I went for a bike ride and then I ate a donut. There must always be balance in the universe. Today we are going to visit a picturesque northern Michigan town: Petoskey. (Pronounced Pet-os-key, ok now say it really fast out loud, nope that's too fast, one more time, but slower, yup you've got it, moving on.) Petoskey is one of many Michigan resort towns that gets busy in the summer, then becomes a pleasant getaway in the fall and winter. Notice I didn't mention spring. This is Michigan people, spring isn't a real season here. Let's have a look at the downtown area. There is plenty to see and do here. Yup, that is downtown Petoskey. An excellent walkable neighborhood. Need a book? Head for Hemingway's Corner. How about some new threads? Northern Exposure Outfitters has you covered. Do people even call clothes 'threads' anymore? Who cares. I'm a Millennial, I'll do what I want. Isn't that a nice downtown? Let's head over to city hall. This is the first stop on our walking tour. There is a statue of Chief Petosega, one of the founders of the village, in the park. The statue faces out over Little Traverse Bay. A large plaza and roundabout mark the entrance to downtown from US-31. We'll walk through the plaza as we head for the waterfront. Now there is a pretty sight. The waterfront has seen major redevelopment in the past several years. New condos and a multi story hotel have been built. This was once an industrial waterfront, but the boom times for lumber and fishing are long gone. A few industrial buildings remain, but shipment by boat has ceased. That's the Bear River as it reaches Little Travers Bay in the middle of the photo. You can find many Petoskey stones, the state stone of Michigan, in the water. Let's see what is going on to our west... Well here is one of the worst kept secrets in town: Cottage Bluff. The few cottages here are prime places to spend the summer. It's only a short bike ride from here to downtown, and the beach is right out your backdoor! Let's head back to the river. Just upriver from the bay is this piece of local history. Several mills once occupied the space at the mouth of the river. This is the only one that remains. The river is a great place to go trout fishing, or kayaking. Let's take a look at how industry has changed in over the years. Great Northern Iron & Metal was once one of the biggest employers in the area. With the changing economic climate, the factory has long since closed. Local investors recognized the potential of the building and cleaned it up using brownfield redevelopment tax credits. The result was condos, shops, and a restaurant called the 'Boiler Room'. An open air market was also started. This has become one of the most popular spots in town. It's a busy one there today. There are several other businesses in this old industrial neighborhood. Bear River Lumber in the anchor business that can be seen here. Several other local manufacturing and supply companies have seen an upturn in the past few years. Some businesses haven't been so lucky. What you're seeing here is all that remains of Allied Chemical & Mineral. The site is heavily contaminated and there have been a few arson fires here over the years. The city is desperate to have the building taken down and redeveloped similarly to the Northern Iron and Metal property. Just south of Allied C&M is the Little Traverse Furniture company. The business is doing very well. Visitors to the area often enjoying checking out the architecture of the homes in this neighborhood. Let's head back for downtown. Here we are at the Petoskey Brewing Company, located at the corner of Hemingway and Water Front Drive. The building once housed a wire factory, but it was converted to this restaurant about 12 years ago. The business has won several awards for their beers and burgers. Well that's all for this tour. Time to call it a day. Book a room at 'The Perry', one of the finer hotels in the area. The hotel and train station are two well known historic landmarks in town. The train station once welcomed travelers from all over the Midwest. It now mostly sees local instate tourist traffic. Looks like there is quite a party going on at the courtyard of The Perry. They're probably celebrating what a nice day it has been. Hope you enjoyed the tour. Petoskey is one of my favorite towns to visit. The area is very scenic. This entry is the first in a series about the harbor towns of northern Michigan. Thanks for reading! I hope you all have a good safe week! Let's all hope for a Spartan victory on Saturday!!!

1 pointReplies: Kim Sunwoo: Glad your enjoying the growth but what is this blaspheme., Gabtoria park is glorious. Public service duty for you! Mymyjp: Fine you can go work in a sweatshop then or something. Can't employ Sun he's currently on Public Service. Still were happy your enjoying the growth! Schulmanator: thanks and don't worry we hopefully won't stop anytime soon (though the game may have something to say about it). Sexysark:P: Thanks glad your liking it! Entry 13:Traffic, the least of our worries! Right then, for this smallish entry were actually going to concentrate on what we said we would last time (a rarity I know). Namely this. Yup, it would seem that we didn't really take into account the actual amount of traffic that we'd need to handle on this road when we made it a dual carriageway. With this in mind its time to upgrade this to a actual motorway, so this is how the new M3 (M! Is the main highway to Gabtoria Point and the M2 is the branch through Nielton) looks As you can see though. The lovely semi roundabout interchange isn't all that efficient. Add to this the fact that there's heavy usage of traffic between this interchange and the Nielton one and we need to do some work on it. Anyway several months of necessary traffic disruption later we have this. As you can see we made the interchange a normal t junction therefore killing the whole back ups due to merging on the old half circle thing. We also added a 4th lane to the Nielton bound traffic which has gone a long way to relieving traffic on the rest of the motorway. Meanwhile, as we tried to relieve the congestion Gabtoria continued its inexhaustible growth outwards, starting with the need for more industry. Now although I don't particularity want a load of noisy industry right next door to my house, there's a little cove up there that I have big plans for which requires some industry (yep, were actually going to try to plan ahead with something!) so here we go with our new industrial area. Now with that area set up to mostly cut down the trees (who needs trees anyway they just spoil my view of the ocean!) we had a bit more residential growth occur in Gabtoria and the still unnamed town next door to it. As you can see though, especially on the far side of Gabtoria, planning definitely wasn't big on the agenda here. Unfortunately all this led to more power issues so the Oil Power Plant was expanded in size. We may however have some slight issues with our oil supplier but hey, we'll worry about that when severe blackouts happen. So now, at this point you can imagine we were all sitting pretty happy. Growth everywhere and money rolling in. Which of course meant that something needed to go especially wrong again. Queue another city wide exodus and death wave. God dammit not again. Anyway this is what our balance and population currently looks like. It was at like 34k before it crashed but hey at least it seems to be levelling out. Industry might not be the happiest about it though. Apparently sweatshops aren't really sweatshops without workers. Anyway screw it, we'll try and sort it out and then hopefully get back to you without everyone rebelling! Till then Crown Prince James (OOC: Well hopefully I'll be back with another entry and this won't kill the city lol. I also tried a new filter out so let me know what you think! Cheers James)

1 pointWelcome back! If you stuck around this long then congrats! This is the update where I finally get really good! Just kidding, I'm mediocre at best. I'm entirely relying on good looks and humour. Anyway, look at the industry! Trees help with pollution, right? Well I put trees in the middle of all the factories. Fire hazard? Maybe. Looks alright? Sure! Also, I'm pretty sure these doughnut trucks are going to eat the dude on the scooter. He should've gotten a motorcycle like all the cool kids. THIS MAN HAS A SANDBOX! As does his neighbour. I want to play in it. Do kids go inside the high school? Everytime I look they're always chilling outside. No one ever goes in. Ah well, at least I still get to see all the high school girls. Sorry... That'll be my only Mathew Mcconaughey reference ever. I promise. Quickly look over there! It's a new residential district! I could probably use some work at taking screenshots. I'm sure there was a better angle to take it at. Stick around and I just might learn something. And finally... Farmland! Because why not? Burning down buildings, building farms. Ahh, good times. It's just like when I used to play SC4 and shared it with all of you. Until next time!

1 pointWelcome Back! And so it begins... 'Tis the season for crowded stores, lack of parking spaces and crazy drivers... or so they say. Meet Holt's newest mall. Built in what's essentially (was?) the middle of nowhere. Won't be in the middle of nowhere long. Lots of construction around the mall, with lots more planned. It's proving to be a quite popular mall already. And reports show crowds at other malls.... well they haven't died down either. Thanks For Visiting! Happy Holidays!

1 pointHOLT DISTRICT IS CHANGING. It is no secret, in fact it is quite plain obvious, Holt District hasn’t been as active as it used to be. A large part of that is time. I’m swamped in RL, and I simply haven’t had the time to develop full updates for HD like I used to. A lot goes into making an update of HD, including developing storylines, historical context for photos, and then actually taking photos, editing them, writing the introductions, etc. for the updates, answering replies and posting updates across 5 versions on 4 websites. I haven’t been happy with how infrequently I’ve been updating, and it is no secret “updates” have only really been teasers lately, save for the elections updates. Given that long-term my RL situation will remain the same, and perhaps only get busier, I’ve made a bold decision about the future of Holt District. One that some will like, one that others will not. I cannot promise I will update regularly again, especially given my schedule, I’m merely attempting to make it simpler and more likely for me to update more often. Though it still will not be as often as when HD first launched. So what was this decision? Effective the wrapping up of the elections storyline, and pending 1 or 2 other storylines, I will most likely be dropping full-on storylines from Holt District. I know this is breaking what HD set out to be, but RL has become so busy, and it obviously takes precedence. Given that I am still having fun developing and playing HD, I didn’t want to see it fade away entirely. As such, updates will continue, just without the overarching storylines. Under the new HD, we will continue to see the region change and develop. Census updates will likely stick around, but will be cut down to semi-annually (December and June of each year). There will still be some sort of wording to go along with my updates, but it will be significantly cut-down. Think back to some of the earlier updates, and that is where I am heading. No storylines spread over multiple updates in the sense you’ve come to know. No more “darkness”, “elections”, etc. We will now solely focus on the development of the region. The reason for this change is it will simplify the update process, as I’ve mentioned. It will free me to update random parts of the region, not sticking to what is being told as the story-du-jour. Something else that will also occur is updates will no longer be numbered. Because updates will come in such a wide variety of sizes, I don’t think numbering them anymore really has any sense. Photos will likely be continued to be numbered, but don’t quote me on that. It is subject to change by relaunch time. To those who’ve come to love the story-line aspect of HD, I apologize. I just simply don’t have the time anymore to maintain the storylines, and no longer have the time to develop them. I’ve loved the storylines, and hope maybe sometime I will be able to fit in a random storyline or something, but I can’t guarantee it. I hope you will continue to follow HD in its new, and quite different, form. To those hating the update frequency (hey, I am too!) – I won’t guarantee this will mean more updates. It really depends on where my RL schedule goes. But I will sure try. Now what does this simplification mean for the other aspects of HD (mainly Twitter and website)? I will most likely not update the website frequently (same as now), though I plan to use twitter more again. Now then, some fun news. In order to signal when the changeover occurs, I will be launching an all-new look to HD once again. I’m going edgier/bold/modern this time, at least I think I am. That’ll be under wraps until the relaunch. The date for the changeover is dependent on the next week or two of my RL schedule, however there is a tentative date in place that is soon. That is, at this point, all I can say. But come the conclusion of the election storyline, there may be another ending or two to some loose end storylines. But for sure, the elections will be represented. This is a big change, and it may seem sudden that these changes are being adopted, however it is something I have been thinking for a while. There is the potential for more changes down the line, but for now I wouldn’t worry about those. For now, I want to thank everyone who has supported HD, and I hope you will continue too. I hope this announcement doesn’t come as too big a disappointment to anyone. Given the huge change this represents, and the perhaps suddenness of this announcement, if you have any questions about this announcement, please ask them. Given the numerous versions there are of HD, all questions will be combined into one post so everyone gets an answer to all questions asked. I’m excited about the changes, and hope you are too. I really do hope you’re not entirely disappointed about the new direction HD is heading. But simply put, I thought this change would be better than HD fading into the sunset altogether at this time. -simlink

1 point...AND SO IS HD'S FIRST BIRTHDAY! HD TURNS 1 TOMORROW! To celebrate a great first year of Holt District and the "second season" launching, a reflective update and look to the future will be posted to celebrate, along with some stats from the region itself and the CJ. This update will sadly come a day or 2 after its official birthday. BUT, good things come to those who wait... and you'll love the anniversary update. And you never know. Maybe there will be a surprise tomorrow too.

It's been some busy weeks and I've been working (in my free time) in some new stuff. I teased you all with some ideas I had on mind and I've developed them in a way that I feel they concentrate the best aspects that in my opinion we've seen here. Let's take a brief look to the City of Rankine, NY. Rankine is situated in north NYC, althought can't remember exactly where it is. It was first an industrial city, and the city expansion made a lot of population to move here during the 50's and the 60's. The subway is one of the few things that work properly here, as it doesn't depend on Rankine. Subway services 2, 5 and 6 stop here, and stations are clogged every morning with commuters waiting for their train to go "to City". The school, the only one in the whole City of Rankine, is placed in front of the church. You don't see much people during Sunday's masses in the church and you don't see much kids during weekdays at school.

Furthermore, I don't like taking night pics because they give you less room to play with them on the GIMP; so I think I'll stick with daytime pictures. Benedict: Thanks for commenting! The nearby water gives the whole city a humid climate, that is freezing when wind blows. Everybody tries to be at home this days, except the muslims who have to go to the Mosque. Nobody in the "to City" platform during Sunday. Newyorkers spend these days in Manhattan buying stuff for Christmas, but Rankiners don't. Christmas presents and meals are a luxury that only a few can afford here. Rankiners spend their Christmas in places like this, the factories. The machinery must run 24/7 and a lot of people are willing to work some extra hours to pay the bills or the scarce Christmas presents. It is cold inside too, broken windows let the wind come in; but workers are "happy" overall. At least, they have a workplace to go to.

1 point111222333444: Thanks for your comment! escilnava: Thank you for commenting! darkaliendude: I've had to visit Half-Life Wiki to know what were you talking about, and then I have to thank you for saying this! Blakeway: Thank you for your comment, so do I! Andrey km: Thanks for commenting, it is still very far of being perfect, but I always try my best! Greekman: Thank you for your comment! TowerDude: Thanks for commenting! NMUSpidey: Thank you for your comment, now you have a couple more places to satisfy your need for SC4 grime... heitomat: Thanks for your comment! I thought the same when I saw that depot on the STEX, couldn't resist to download it. Benedict: Thank you for commenting! Don't thank to me, thank to RebaLynnTS, who made that fantastic set... k50dude: Thank you for your comment and for telling me! OrdinarySim: ¡Gracias por comentar! In SC4 there's no frustration, just I need to play other games to go all in back to SC4! Evillions: Thanks for your comment! I've always thought that Maxis stuff isn't that bad after all... And I'm used to play with the New York and Chicago tilesets disabled, so everything seems "new" for me now. Roberto Robato: Thank you for commenting! You won't miss Rankine, I've just made a revamped version... After some intense days building and downloading new stuff, I think the results have turned out pretty well, and the city is now more Tenement-y and Rusty than before. It has got more... ... more trash and more rust... ... more tenements and more brown projects... ... and more sports rivalry...

1 pointComment Replies Just had an explorer crash and all replies have been lost. As I don't feel as writing them again, I'll edit this post in the following days to reply all the comments posted in the latest update. Thanks for your understanding. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The exam season has just began and it's being tougher than expected. My ST Time has decreased and I'm sleeping less hours than I should just because I love this place. Blame the Industial Automation... Fortunately, I had an update ready for this weeks, and here it is! Please enjoy! Rankine's skyline would be as anonymous as the rest of northern NYC skyline if it wasn't by a few structures that give the city its character and make it recognizable for some miles away. Nearly 3000 souls live in this building, resembling more a prison than an apartments building. The worst thing is that it also feels like a prison inside... Rankine Estates appeared in the first update from this city, four tall 25-storey tenements stand where formerly stood the Josa, Inc. factory. Small electric devices where shipped from here to all the US east cost during the first half of the 20th century. Nowadays, there are still factories and plants in Rankine, we saw one in the previous update and here's the most recognizable one around. ConEd's most infamous power plant is situated in Rankine; and despite the inhabitant's protests, its smokestacks keep vomiting particulates, carbon oxide, carbon dioxide, sulphur oxides, nitrogen oxides to the athmosphere and to Rankine's lungs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I often pay small homages in my updates, try to discover which one is hidden in this update!

1 pointComment Replies Reikhardt: Thanks for your comment! As I said, I'm running the game in a humble 1024x768 resolution, but the pics focusing makes everything have more detail. Krasnoslobodsk end isn't near by now, don't worry... And thanks for the formula, I tried looking for it among the differential equations notes, but couldn't find it... And finally, you can find the plant here [link]. the00guvna: Thank you for commenting! The plant is as well cared as the rest of the city, but I don't see a catastrophe by now... tigeria: Thanks for your comment! The plant I showcased a lot of entries ago resembled more to the Chernobyl one, but this one is fantastic to take pictures... Frdm920: Thank you for commenting! But I'm sorry to say there's no disaster on the horizon... by now... ImVhOzzi: Thanks for your comment, my friend! jj88: Thank you for your comment! I've never said "Krasnoslobodsk is here" (I guess I will sometime) but you can be sure it was part of the USSR and it went independent like many other former soviet republics did... figgy: Thanks for commenting! I think it took more time to download the dependency props than to place the plant... With such a "short" content, I wanted to give the GIMP this update's starring. heitomat: Thank you for your comment! "If it is rusty, it should be on my Plugins folder!" is one of my mottos right now... It's cool to see some of the structures seen here in your own CJ, all large cities have their nice and their not-so-nice places! avrelivs: Thanks for your comment! Yeah, I spent much more time than other updates on the photoedition. This structure gave me a lot of room to play with, and I guess I've taken advantage of it... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- During the late 90s, the slow transition from communism to capitalism, brought to Krasnoslobodsk a new way of life, new structures, new concepts and new problems. The city became a kind of melting pot where the most modern buildings were built besides reminiscences of the past. This past, though, is still present virtually everywhere you go. This is one of the most common sights in the "border" that separates the suburbs and the newly developed financial district. From the windows, the oil and gas tycoons "enjoy" neverending districts made of blocks and more blocks, where live the workers who can't afford an Armani suit to use in their jobs. Fishermen have been replaced by container ships in the seaport. Krasnoslobodsk recieves now containers coming from all over Europe and Asia. Don't ask about its content. The ones that have had the opportunity of moving to the higher strates of society, have brought a livestyle you couldn't think of (literally) only twenty years ago. Shiny skyscrapers and impressive architecture have reached Krasnoslobodsk, but democracy and equality principles don't.

1 pointComment Replies jj88: Thanks for your comment! Waiting until March? OMG, I would go absolutely crazy if I had to wait such a long time... Skimbo: Thank you for your comment, my friend! DCMetro34: Thank you for commenting and congrats on your exams too! Frdm920: Thanks for commenting! Well, it definately is a big task, but I have no deadline for it... Blacknf: Thanks for your comment! I can't help with the LHD-RHW thing because mine is actually RHD, but photoediting the pic (flipping it) makes the effect that my game is LHD. I have no problems with my RHWs though, I suggest you to use the "drawpaths" cheat to see if you're doing things right... Adrianor: ¡Gracias por tu comentario! ImVhOzzi: Thank you for your great comment, my friend! escilnavia: Thanks for commenting! heitomat: Thank you for commenting! Yeah, I should have thought what I was writing after placing the third pic... Nevertheless, I guess that non-Party people was allowed to have cars in the during the mid-1980s... OrdinarySim: ¡Gracias por tu comentario! De momento no he visto a los GEOs entrar en mi casa por la fuerza... Pero nunca se sabe. For now, I haven't seen the SWAT guys breaking into my home... But you never know. the00guvna: Thank you for your comment! Well, I don't know certainly that this methods were used in the real USSR; but if I had been a dictator, I definately would... Translating the game to other languages in which Maxis didn't thought (or it wasn't profitable) is beyond me, as I can't speak more languages and you cannot fully rely on the Internet translators (not even Google's one!) VicRusty: Gràcies pel teu comentari! Benedict: Thanks for commenting! Satellite TV can be really important to know what's going on beyond the official goverment channel... You only have to see the Egyptians... All: The language mod (Projecte SC4Cat) keeps on track. In this moment I have translated approximately a 19% of the game (including all the begginer's tutorials). Tried to do a custom SC4 splash screen but the file took more or less 18 MB and this is such a large file for a simple image. Then, this idea is discarted. ------------------------------------------------- Nuclear power was a very important source of power in the soviet republics. When it was discovered, nuclear plants began popping up all over the USSR and the whole union was powered by a cheap and "clean" source. It all seemed the future until the Chernobyl disaster... 25 years later, still a lot of power plants stand. Cooling towers are always seen as "those ugly structures that pollute everything". In fact, they're ugly, but they only release warm air... But even though they're not radioactive nor polluting; it doesn't meen they don't deserve their maintenance. If one of them failed, the plant should shut down inmediately before a dangerous overheating. The rust covering all those tanks is also really worrying... Despite its state, Krasnoslobodsk Nuclear Power Plant (placed 30 km far from the city) has seen much better days. It is only now a dinosaur made of concrete and steel waiting to be dismantled. It's not well mantained, it's not efficient, it's not secure; but Krasnoslobodsk just cannot lock it. The city needs power, and this plant is the main supplier. Until something happens.
