Replies: Firstly I'd like to apologise for the rather large gap in entries. Been a bit busy in real life and distracted with a couple of other games but am still plugging away at expanding this region! Now onto the actual replies. hammysonata: Lol thanks, yes I suppose you could say he was a bit of a mogul but, given the education levels in Harrington you could argue that a beaver could make a decent businessman. Glad you like the MMP work, takes a while but well worth it. Takingyouthere: Thanks, glad you...

Reply: hammysonata: Thanks, glad you like the MMP work and yes it is very contagious lol. So much so that I'm pretty much mmping everything now as I go along and whilst I wait for things to develop. At least things will look nice (hopefully) even if they do take several between entries! As for looking like upstate NY that's pretty heartening to hear seeing as I was going for a Canada/Northern American look to the region. Entry 16: Harrington grows! So, today were going to take a look at some of the...

Spoiler pink77punk: Thanks! I'm really glad your enjoying it! Takingyouthere: Agreed, I'm slowly finding myself being sucked into MMPing despite being adamant at the start that I wouldn't lol. Entry 15: Harrington Landscape Files 001 (OOC: So, a bit of a weird title today but it should make a bit of sense in a minute as you continue with this entry. You see, despite being sure that MMP's wouldn't feature heavily in this CJ, I appear to have been bitten by the MMP bug anyway and seeing as I like to see...

Spoiler raynev1: Thanks, your probably right about the plugins lol. As for the regional view, I'm glad your enjoying the expansion. Its actually pretty fun to expand as I go and not know what the entire map looks like ahead of time! kschmidt: Thanks, I find it really fun and interesting, not knowing exactly what the whole thing is going to look like straight away. Entry 14: Well it kind of worked! So, getting right back into things, and with the agreement document finally having been found, we start...

Spoiler raynev1: Thanks. I really like the map creation and terraforming part so I'm glad its coming across well! kschmidt: Thanks and having just had a look at the area that you mentioned I can see what you mean. I love starting small and basic so we'll probably be seeing the occupations that you mentioned at some point! Entry 13: Fittingly Unlucky! So, welcome back to Harrington where we have some interesting developments that might not have gone totally to plan. You see, last time when we were visiting...

Entry 12: Smallbay

Replies: Spoiler kim026: Thanks and yep, just need to jump right back on the horse and get going with it again! As for the natural growth advice, your completely right, its always interesting how things sort of evolve story wise out of the towns your building. Its also fun to not have a plan when doing it, just plop some streets down in a random way and zone what's needed then worry about the traffic and chaotic nature later on (sort of how most European settlements were created with all the pointless...

So here we go again! OOC: Right so I have a bit of a lesson for everyone. Apparently, it turns out that its a really bad idea to edit the config file of a region while you have the region open in game. A definite lesson in how to actually think about what your doing before you actually doing and also to make sure that you back up your regions every now and then. Anyway, as you've probably guessed by now, this led to the unfortunate result of me wiping the entire map from existence. Bit of a bummer...

Replies: The British Sausage: Thanks, glad your enjoying it. Got to love some SPAM action. I haven't really bothered tidying things like that up as the main idea is that they'll develop quickly as the region expands. Guess I'll just have to try and hide it better with trees lol. Entry 10: Coastal Communities Part 1, Farend So, I know that I said that we'll be taking a look at the other administrative regions around Harrington today but turns out were not doing that in the end. Instead were going too...

Spoiler Replies alex23476: Welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay! Not sure how far away it is that we'll see some much bigger towns but theres some substantial growth in this entry so I hope you enjoy that! Entry 9: How much too export?! So, as mentioned last time the entire region as decided to divide itself up into different administrative areas, each with its own tax rate and governing stuff. This sounded brilliant on paper, and all the governing bodies were having a wail of a time. At...

Entry 8: Harrington Island So, as you can probably guess from the title of this entry, recent exploration of the area around Harrington has found out that its actually located on an island. Now this has led to the mayor of Harrington getting a bit concerned over something but I'm sure we'll find out what this is in the future. For now though, were going to take a trip around the island itself. Starting off were in Harrington itself. There hasn't been a whole lot of change in the primary town of the...

Replies: westy177: Thanks, hope they provided some inspiration (despite that you posted that god know how long ago). kschmidt: You might be right about the harbour I'll pass it on to the mayor of that town! Ducio: People love cheap housing I guess lol. Glad you like it! Entry 7: It's been a while So, it's been a while since we were last in Harrington. Growth was pretty slow over here lately (like several months slow but we'll ignore that). Anyway we have continued to grow a bit more so its all good. ...

Replies: Ducio: Thanks and glad you like the church. I'm pretty sure I've pretty much downloaded all the churches I could find on the STEX and SC4D so I get the most variety out of my church in every village rule, the small ones are hard to come by though so if you have any suggestion that would be brilliant. As for the houses, I feel a bit sorry for them too, though, they are getting a house a hell of a lot cheaper than anywhere else in the region. Plus, the majority of them moved in after the dump and...

Replies: raynev1: Thanks and yep, plenty of room, at least 100 large tiles DavidDhetzel: Thanks and yep, always looking for good BAT's so thankyou, picked them all up (or at least I will eventually) kschmidt: Thanks and I completely agree that it has to be slow burn for the development. Not sure what sort of time period this is really based in as I've got a bit of a mix of buildings from several different time periods so it doesn't really have a fixed date in time. I do however hope to indicate some sort...

Replies: raynev1: Thanks and I'm glad you like the narration! I enjoy coming up with the story! Entry 4: A tale of two farmers! So, as you can probably guess from the title of this entry were back with the regions two most famous farmers (which is actually quite a big claim seeing as everyone in the entire region works on a farm), Farmer Poppin and Farmer Pippin. Now, last entry we looked ta how some enterprising ventures into commerce had left farmer Poppins farmers market feeling a bit sorry for itself...

Replies: Ducio: Thanks and no worries, the old one was way to industrial for its size. kschmidt: Thanks and I agree, the game does tend to upgrade to med wealth quickly. Ironically, they then go abandoned and get twice as many low wealth living there but nevermind. Entry 3: Were back on track! So, don't panic I haven;t started the city again this time, instead I've done the expected and normal thing and expanded the city that we finished with last time. Anyway lets jump right in. So, when we last...

Replies: MissVandelier: Thanks for looking in on the project and for the suggestion, I picked them up and a load more houses along them lines and really like the look of them so thanks! sunda: I'm sorry, I don't understand what you said but thanks for dropping in and leaving a comment! raynev1: Thanks for following and glad you liked the entry. Hope this one is even better for you! Ducio: Thanks though I got rid of them as I didn't think they looked that good and that trees looked better, though, as your...

Harrington A natural growth SC4 CJ Introduction to Harrington So, this is going to be my second random project that I want to try out alongside the El Hightonia one. This one however will be in SC4 and will focus around no real goals other than slow growth. This will be achieved (hopefully) through the use of my own version of the natural growth method whereby I zone whatever is in the most demand at the time (this produces some odd things as you'll see in a minute) Don't know if this will actually work...
