About this City Journal

New Chandler has been going for THREE YEARS and COUNTING! It's time for you to check out the two-time Trixie-winning tropical culture of New Chandler!

Entries in this City Journal

To start, there is finally a map of New Chandler. Today, we are in New Chandler City, the large green area in the southwest corner. Particular the Central Core, which is just above the peninsula to the east of Raintree Cove. Well guess what, you only get two pictures today. Click them, you'll be glad you did. (one of the smaller forum-sized ones is being a little "trippy" but if you click it you should still get something). There are about 1366x3200, one is a bit larger, one a bit smaller.

Sophanem, An Older City

Replies were on previous entry. The Sophanem Spire is a large radio and observation tower. It is the third tallest building in the city. Near the Sunset Pier a new statue made out of brass has been erected. A desalinization plant removes saline (salt) from Mitchell Lagoon to provide the water of Sophanem and northern Doherty. Southern Doherty (previous entry) and Roseburgh (coming soon) are two other cities on the same island that make up Pelham Province and have their own desalinization plants. A common...

The Culture Shock of Doherty

One of the biggest updates in the history of the New Chandler City Journal. No voting, no fancy stuff, just the city of Doherty. enjoy! New banner by the way... now with subtitles At the bottom of this picture are poor slums. At the top are rich homes. Driving one way and your car can get keyed. On the other there are college students in the latest fashions walking to White University (at the left of this picture) A glimpse of Mount Doherty, a protected area, and the city below it. The rich side is full...

Subway ride!

It's time to ride the New Chandler Metro for the first time in NC 2.0! Today we will ride the 8 line the entire "short" length. The 8 line goes from the Central Core up through Winchester. Every other line continues on about 8 more stations to Andersen. Here is a sign from the platform from our train. This particular line is the only one to have its own platform on the metro. Looks like we will have three minutes to sip on some coffee. This is a sign that hangs above the platform. And we are off! The first...

Simlympic Teasers

This isn't an official update, just a few teasers from my coming simlympic bid I want to share with you all. These are the first pictures of the second New Chandler City as well, so enjoy! You can see what city you are in by looking on the little postage thing below the stamp. This one is a bit different but it's in the same location. It's a television shot instead. You can also click it and be rewarded with a better quality image! Click for good resolution. This one is also scaled to a high resolution,...

Winchester.... again

Votes have decided that it is better for the new stadium to not be built, Winchester FC will continue to share the university's stadium instead. We are going a bit farther North of University of Winchester on this entry. The apartments here are a bit older and more dense. They still have the open areas in the middle, however. A zoomed-in picture. In this image you can see two newly built high rise apartments. Lets not forget, though, that no residential area in New Chandler is far from a park full of trees...

Shots of Winchester

ooof, it's been a while sorry for the absence. You can vote on this entry though, to allow (or disallow) a professional team to move out of a stadium too small for them. Remember, think economically!

Sophanem's minor AIN summit bid

DCMetro34: clicky otto4: sunshine and citydome Adrianor: haven't tried it, I used buildingplop to do it. Thanks everyone else for the nice comments! I think this entry is one of my best (along with the last one) In the last entry we explored some landmarks of Sophanem, like Sunshine Stadium... But did you know that you were only teased? Woah, was that Downtown Sophanem? And the place where they are bidding for a minor AIN summit, in the government meeting hall? The one in beautiful wooded Sophanem City...

Sophanem City Center

Baliam12 - comparatively speaking, quite quickly. My big cities take much longer. Plus Avondale is completely plopped (and what I am showing in Sophanem is also completely plopped). Thanks everyone else for your nice comments and for voting! To end this entry, I leave you with a mosaic. I didn't break it up though, so you can view it by clicking the next image...

Help Me Build West Avondale!

Tekindus, about that red building, it was going to be a ministry office to something, but now it won't be shown again because it's a different region. Mithrik, it grew on me, but I thought it looked nice It's kind of been a while. This update isn't my best, but this is the first update from New Chandler 2.0, so you get a little taste of things. Just for giggles, something I did with a few trees and god mode terraforming, sort of a crater lake but only about thirty feet deep.... This is called SimCity for...

The Capital City

Mr. G, I am sorry about your predicament. Mithrik, better late than never! Thanks to everyone else who commented, really! I appreciate it. Lets get to todays entry... No header today, sorry.... The capitol building of New Chandler 1.0, New Chandler 2.0 will have a different one. Down the "Capitol Green" is the Department of Foreign Affairs. Near the green are medium-density housing, New Chandler law prohibits buildings being taller than the capitol building within five miles of it (unless it is on the...

Winchester!

Sorry to disappoint you guys... hopefully this entry makes up for it, if it doesn't then I am terribly sorry. Winchester is on the opposite side of the Western River, due East of Roseburgh. Over the last twenty years it has become one of New Chandler's bustling commerce and entertainment hubs. The Winchester Spur highway, connecting the 612 to the 43, is empty today. It divides the downtown from the Embarcadero District. The Embarcadero District houses high rises, Mediterranean-styled apartments and shop...

Roseburgh

Geoff: yaplog.jp/waldorf/category_11/ CTMandR, Tekindus, Mithrik, glad you liked it. Tepoedon, I don't really know I just realized the other day the only time I really showed Roseburgh was during the ISC session, which wasn't an official entry. So, today I am going to show you Roseburgh, the city directly to the North of La Brea, and to the West of Winchester. The metro system you see running by the turnpike may look familiar, it's the C line! Roseburgh is famous for two things: The American house...

The New Chandler CBD

Thank you Mithrik and Schulmanator! This entry has high quality pictures if you right click on the image, and view image (or open image in new tab for my fellow Google Chrome users). If you don't have Google Chrome, get it. The New Chandler CBD is in one of New Chandler's most beautiful settings, where the Western River meets the Pacific Ocean. Because the CBD is on the coast, it can get a bit windy down on the streets, with all the flat buildings pushing air down on them. The NCnews and NCsports Channel 2...

Simlympic Torch Relay

My apologies for being absent for about ten days, I have been working on my next town, Rockaway, which has the most annoying street layout for city building (sort of like Washington DC) It will pay off though, I think it will look awesome when it's done. I can't post the 18 youtube videos that correspond with this entry easily, so you will be getting a link to see that! Hope you do not mind. I don't care where you comment (simsports or here) While I was gone, I was left with a new record of comments......

The 'C' Line

I got 22 comments! 15 of which also read the directions and voted! The voting resulted in a staggering 9 votes for the park, 3 for the tower, and 2 for the medical center. Some of you voted twice, so I took the first one In short: A new park is being made in East La Brea! This entry also has voting. It's my biggest yet (17 pictures!) so I hope you enjoy it and VOTE!Julien: Thanks for the comment and for voting, I don't know of any kind of rain mod, I made it on GIMP.Thomas: Thanks for the comment and for...

Another Rainy Night

There is a new item available in the downloads section. Check it out! Until then, I will reply to my comments I got on my last entry. All eighteen of them bear with me here!Sky Guy: Thanks for the comment, I am glad you like it!Adrianor: Thanks for the comment. The region is hand-made by me and not done yet so probably not. You can see a view of La Brea though from the downloads page (Page 2)Liberator444: Thanks for the comment, I am glad you like it!TekindusT: Thanks for the comment, my friend. I haven't...

Parque De La Brea

thefunktopus: Thanks for the comment! I haven't seen much rolling stock-ism here, so I thought I would try something new. Thats the whole point of this journal, really Mithrik: Thanks for the comment, I am glad you like it!TekindusT: Thanks for the comment, my friend! I just rode the Acela last month (to New York, to rub it in to you more ) so I am in the railroad set of mind. About the two Palomino's, you didn't see anything! (the top one should be Sophanem, the bottom one is still Palomino).cmdp123789:...

ISC Session

TekindusT: Thanks for the comment, my friend! Well, I already had done the usual "K50 Dude Photo Style" where I pull up the brightness and contrast way up, so saturation didn't help all that much... Oh well, next time sepen20: Thanks for the comment. Actually, that is what I go off of. I just don't have Photoshop, I have GIMP, so everything is different. I am still learning Mithrik: Thanks for the comment! It probably would be the richest part of La Brea, but not the richest part of town. Glad you liked...

Nights in La Brea

Simsamerica: Thanks for the comment. I replied to you in advance... Wacky32: Thanks for the comment. No comments. Really guys? DCMetro34: Thanks for the comment, I am glad you liked it! sepen20: Thanks for the comment. My computer is really bad (but I am getting a new one soon! Yahoo!) so unfortunatley I can not turn up my graphics anymore than I have. The overlay textures are a different problem I think though, but I can't confirm that (see in CSGforums, CoastRunner's reply, that might answer your...

12 comments. Not bad, would have liked more though. I want feedback so I can improve! Also, the files page has been updated with the La Brea Light Rail map, which can be download directly by clicking the link given. (the files page is the one after the introduction). Sepen20: Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it! TowerDude: Thanks for the comment... Welcome to the Jungle (great song by the way, Guns n' Roses sings it). CTMandR: Thanks for the comment, I am glad you will be following the journal. I...

Western La Brea

I have got a lot of feedback from my last entry. Thanks to everyone who commented. It really helps having a lot of critique on my first post! Here are my the replies. Jayman8464 (page one): Thanks for the comment; I sure hope your feeling is right! simcityguru: Thanks for the comment! I will try to add a few more empty gates in the future (I was just at JFK, I was used to crowded airports, guess this is a little "too" crowded. Understandable). tkuelker: Thanks for the compliment, I love airports too. I...

Meant to post this yesterday but my laptop died. My bad. Just ignore the date for now. Transcendenta International Airport is by far the largest airport in the country. It acts as a hub for flag carrier New Chandler Airways and USA airliner Delta Airlines. Transcendenta is split up neatly into 6 concourses, each one starting with a letter. Terminal A is airlines based out of the United States. It was remodeled two years ago. The satellite terminal is connected by underground tunnels; it is also where the...
