Also known as Frankfurt am Main, Frankfurt is one of Germany's largest cities and is home to one of Europe's most spectacular skylines. Many areas of the city were founded back in medieval times - and despite much of the city being destroyed in World War II, extensive reconstruction efforts over years have restored much of the Frankfurt's former beauty. Today, Frankfurt is a key financial and economic center, and is home to many of the country's most important banks and financial institutions.

Our visit begins in the old city center. For over 600 years, this area has been the historic heart of Frankfurt and is home to a number important landmarks like Paulskirche and Römer, the city's town hall. Despite taking severe damage in World War II, many of the key buildings were restored starting in the 1950s, utilizing as much of the remaining structures and facades as possible.

Back in medieval times, large city gates once circled around the city - but only a few remnants remain intact today. The beautiful Eschenheimer Turm has been standing tall since the 15th century, making it one of the city's oldest and most unaltered buildings - and today is one of Frankfurt's most popular tourist destinations.

Since the late 1970s, the skyline of Frankfurt has grown dramatically with countless new skyscrapers constructed over the years. The impressive Deutsche Bank Twin Towers, built from 1979-1984, made a distinctive mark on the city's modern skyline. Nicknamed "Debit" and "Credit", they serve as the headquarters to one of Germany's most important financial institutions, Deutsche Bank. Also visible is the 610 ft tall Trianon, home to another one of the country's largest banks, DekaBank.

The Messeturm, or Trade Fair Tower is another iconic tower on Frankfurt's skyline. Finished in 1990, this 63 story, 843 ft tall skyscraper is well known for its distinctive pyramid top.

(question : do we have all, or most of, those impressive towers somewhere ? Some I think I do recognize but most, not.)

@tariely Some of the towers are custom, but I'm also using some of Diego Del Llano's newer creations here, here, and here, as well as a few others from around the STEX. Thanks for the comment *:)

Nice feature - I'd love to see more German cities and landmarks as I know you'll knock it out of the park!

@tariely & @EvansRE4 I wish i could release more stuff but unfortunately not much of it is in a final releasable state yet - i.e. the BATs in this update look pretty good from afar, but up close I still need to model lots of stuff and do additional work to make them look presentable.. Also, for the CJ I generally don't spend a lot of time perfectly tweaking textures/modeling, so everything's still in a bit of a WIP state.. and they would all still need to be properly lotted, modded, and given night lights. And finally some of the stuff I use wasn't even made by me, i.e. pretty much all the custom models in this update came from various sites around the web which I then heavily modified, so I'd still need to make sure none of the authors would disallow redistribution first. Right now I'm still extremely busy with my CJ but later on I'll look more into it.

@Scaley McSlither Thank you very much! I haven't done any city from Germany in while so it definitely was time for another update! *:thumb:

@RobertLM78 Thanks for the comment! Yep, I'd say that there's definitely an uncanny resemblance between the two.. *;) Fun fact: the "Super Spur" tower from the Euro tileset in SC3KU also appears to be largely inspired by the Messeturm as well.. it seems like Maxis definitely liked that building alot *:D
