Known as the "City of Brotherly Love", the famous American city of Philadelphia has a rich history which started with its days as an important colonial city in the late 1600s. Over the next century, the city was an important site in the American Revolution, served as the birthplace of a number of important American documents, and was even the capital of the United States for a brief period of time in the late 1700s. The city is also well known for its historical landmarks, which we'll be taking a look at today as well as the city's growing skyline.

We'll begin with a view of the city's famed Independence Hall in the mid 1700s. With both the United States Declaration of Independence and United States Constitution adopted here - as well as once being the home of the iconic Liberty Bell - it's a building that's steeped in history.

The Port of Philadelphia has always been a vital aspect to the city's economy - here we see a scene from the mid 1800s when the port played a big role in transforming the city into a major trading center.

A look at Independence Hall in modern times - now the centerpiece of the Independence National Historical Park and one of the city's most historic landmarks. Close by is the famed Liberty Bell, a symbol of American Independence and another one of the city's most iconic sights.

Philadelphia City Hall is has served as the seat of government for the city since 1901. For over 80 years, a gentleman's agreement stipulated that no buildings could be built higher than the statue of William Penn on top - but in 1987 it finally came to an end with the construction of One Liberty Place.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is another one of the city's most iconic landmarks - originally chartered in 1876 for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, it was constructed in 1928 and currently houses over 260,000 pieces of art.

Cool...!   Nice work.  I should have done a bit more sight-seeing than I did when I was there..... long story...... :P

I'm sorry to not see the museum however... that's twice now, since that was what we were "supposed" to do that day, anyway.......  again.... long story.... xD

@RobertLM78 Thanks for the comment! *:) I really wanted to include the Museum in the update, but the only custom model I could find online wasn't high quality and had some odd rendering issues in the game. I might try to mess around with it and see if I can get a better result though and still include it in the update if possible.

@The British Sausage Thank you! *:)

If any Americans dare to think they haven't progressed since the 1770s, they should be told to look at Philadelphia, or at least this entry.

...I mean, just LOOK at it. How is this not progress? :thumb:

Another beautiful city recreated by the one and only @korver. I always love your attention to detail. When I build my cities I try to do a combination of a working city and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

@Scaley McSlither Thanks for the nice words, glad you enjoyed the historical scenes!

@EvansRE4 Thanks for the comment! Although a few of my scenes are more eye candy oriented due to in game limitations, I do take a similar approach to the one you mentioned whenever possible (especially when doing large recreations) with a healthy mix of functional and aesthetic components.

@tariely Appreciate the comment! *:thumb: I might have made that first picture a tad too dark, so I just lightened it up just a touch - but I still kept it a bit dark overall, I want it to have that old historical feel after all.. *;)

Some truly lovely pictures. The old-world scenes are stunning. The wharves and buildings you've chosen are incredibly lively. But I am amazed at how well you put together the Philly Museum of art picture. The combination of all the different elements is really clever *:thumb:

As someone who lives in Philly, near Center City, the modern versions are...  Wildly inaccurate, but they look very cool.  As a standalone SC4 city, this looks awesome, and at least you got the important buildings for the west side of CC in place.  Not to mention some of the buildings you used as replacements are pretty clever.

The historical ones are phenomenal with no criticism, though.

Amazing representation of a beautiful city, do you make some of these models? or just use ones from this site?
