Back to Rural Again!

QxosX9.jpg

Replies:

Namiko: Thanks a lot!

Prophet42: Those would be the backalley / centre-of-the-city-block pictures- I'm glad you get great ideas for your cities.

Scribosilyn: I will be posting the odd montage video every two months or so...

JP Schriefer: Thanks! Also, one can never go wrong with Ennio Morricone.

Wallibuk: Thanks! The buildings are a mixture of American, European and British buildings.

Urban Constanta: Cheers!

Entry 11: Back to Rural Again!

So as promised here are some more rural scenes. I managed to find a diagonal version of Diggis river set and combined with the orthogonal set makes for some great-looking small rivers!

1.

XbPD0C.jpg

The idea is a stream cutting through the fields, with some areas being fenced off to create wildlife habitats.

2.

XzUQDI.jpg

Combined with orthogonal corners and diagonal corners, creating a river becomes an exercise in grid-busting.

3.

JOLiKC.jpg

The path splits in two... One branches off towards a small tourist spot.

4.

ISr6iK.jpg

Another thing I'm working on is wild areas with a medium saturation of MMPs. It's not 100% saturation and it ain't a light saturation either... Medium!

5.

PKUc4i.jpg

I always enjoy painting in MMP gravel paths.

6.

At first I was just planning on creating MMP fields, but throwing in a river adds a bit of much needed variety.

One of my favourite scenes to create is the rail siding in the middle of the countryside.

9.

3TbBYF.jpg

I also throw in some SPAM fence sets in as well- brown, white and barbed wire.

10.

wz12HL.jpg

And a bit above the bridge is the field which hugs around the river's edge...

11.

lrpE6y.jpg

Using Heblem's tropical grass I get this dark-green field which looks decent. Another <small> addition is a dirt-lined perimeter around some fields.

12.

rzuK8f.jpg

The petrol station faces out into the sea of dark green.

13.

14.

As mentioned earlier the tourist spot is this small gazebo by the river.

15.

Now my plans for this river is that it will run across the northeast corner of the city tile. LARGE VERSION: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img924/772/YZVYC7.jpg

And here is the picture of the playground. I posted this several days ago but here is the all-dolled-up version!

Now then, the next entry will be something similar- more rural scenes.

Enjoy!

Lastly- WHY doesn't this site properly show mosaics?

Looking amazing @The British Sausage !

As for this, I think it's some kind of image height restriction. However, if you highlight a picture and then remove the formatting (Tx button) then it makes the image full width. :P

Great update!  So much to visually enjoy.  I espicially like pictures 4, 9 and 14.  And what a great idea, putting a little Gazebo by the river bend for your Sims to enjoy the scenery.

Spectacular @The British Sausage great stuff. Such intricacy, and a unique look somewhere between midwestern US and european... Might be a silly question but is any of this grown or is it all placed? Have you thought about doing highlights for some of the pieces in your posts, so that others can download them? I just got back in the game after a couple years and this is a big source of inspiration!

As sort of a follow up, I don't know how familiar you are with Dedgen (he is no longer active) , but here is a link to some of his work over at SC4Devotion

https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=5603.0

Also there are some files over there you might like. Look for Chrisadams3997 (also no longer active) in the LEX

Again good to see someone doing rural.

Buck

Thank you VERY much for this!

I have actually been churning out rural scenes from late 2015 to the present day. Unfortunately my old CJ "My SC4 CJ Scrapbook" is now defunct due to computer issues and my Imageshack account acting up. I have sent emails to Imageshack about restoration but so far no reply.

If there is a reply then I intend to restore the "My SC4 CJ Scrapbook" and rebuild it focusing on the five city tiles I am most proud of: Annuq, Faverdale, Erinsberg and two others.

I feel your pain!!!  I am trying to recover files from two hard drive crashes and a computer.  Looking for files i downloaded 10 plus years ago.

I am trying to work from STEX, LEX and PLEX searches for familiar author names, but, old memory foggy (I turned 75 on the 4th).  Recently downloaded a ton of stuff and came across quite a bit of items you may be interested in but can't think of the right now.  If I do I'll reply back.

Looks like you are primarily a journal builder and not a growable player, is that correct?

Buck

BTW there are some fine rapid moving water plops available by several different authors that you may want to use.

Hi Buck,

Yes I'm a journal builder and I am very meticulous with what I add onto city tiles. I will check every tile and make sure every building -- RCI and non-RCI -- fits into the scene.

I'm also aware of the rapid moving water plops but for the time being I'm going for a simple approach using Diggis streams.

I have MMPed in rivers and included rapids, rocks and banks.

The British Sausage

p.s The PLEX is no more. Most of the content has emigrated to the STEX which has a limited PLEX selection.

The STEX has a subcategory PLEX  that have many of the old PEG items repackage by someone else.
