Ah...that certainly hit the spot. 48.gif I think I'll order another for my friend DA here. Oh, and a nice, thick steak sandwich with real bread for me, with plenty of onions. 48.gif

Darkavatar, I understand your concern and pressure seeing as I once came from Malaysia where the academic pressures are more or less similar. I used to think that the Western education system needed a major overhaul during my first few years in Australia, but then, I realised that the system is based on a 'all play then all work mentality'. In primary school, all you do is play, and you pay for that later one. In the east, you have the workload more or less balanced.

But still, 12 hours is NUTS. 14.gif I think that you should get your parents to complain. 12 hours is way too much, even after all those extra-curricular activities. 19.gif

The alien agrees.  I was put through private school and the high school workload is college prepatory. That's the main accredited course, not some honors level thing.  And I have two more years.  Education is top-notch but the workload is high.  Now if only I could remember my algebra.15.gif

Bartender, give me a bucket of ice cubes and a basket of king crab. Gonna eat good today.29.gif

The zukes put up wooden paneling in the interior of the ship, put small, high speed computers/TVs in front of every passesnger seat, and make the interior look good.

@Dark Avatar: That's too much like real world killing work. Kids need time to play. Change is not always good. However, remember, someone has convinced the MOE that this is good. Parents should be looking for justifications and insisting on explanations of this sudden change. Are all the schools in Singapore on this system or just yours? I hate experiments in education when the lab is the school.

I didn't pay too much attention. 15.gif Would have learned more if I had.  Yes, it's artificial like geometry but algebra and geometry use opposite sides of the brain and that is important to which of the two you will likely understand better.  I'm a scatter brain46.gif so I will probably understand geometry well.

Ah, I'd kill for a glass of port.

Just taking a little time out while grading all the late papers.

To all you students out there: grading late papers makes teachers VERY cranky! Don't expect them to let anything slide if you should happen to be one of those procrastinators. 11.gif

Ephorex, ideally, I wish I could say that I was absoultely impartial and that no outside factors influence objective grading.

But that's not the case. I'm only human after all.

Two factors do have an effect on my grading. First, as I mentioned, is late papers.

Second is the last paper I have to grade after grading 25. Woe be to he who's paper is at the bottom of the stack. If it's bad, it will be savaged. On the other hand, if it's good, I will be nicer.

Fair? Perhaps not. But I am only human and I do my best.

MOE did not change the system in my school. The principle choose to try out the new system. If MOE did, then all the schools here would be using the new system and well, there would be a huge contraversyand uproar because singaporeans like the current classroom system. Because of the classroom system, bullies in schools are almost non-exixtent because there's always a teacher to keep an eye on the class. And no, only mine a and only a handfull of other schools are using this system. I think the teachers are just lazy to move around.16.gif BTW, what drinks do you recommend? There seeems to be a huge variety of drinks and all of them look so tasty.mmmm...

@hym: Yay Geometery! One of my best topics. If you have problems, please don't be afraid to ask. I have been through the entire Erlangen program (a survey of geometries) so I know more than somewhat about it. Its been a while, but it is like riding a bicycle, you don't really every lose the ability to balance. Geometery is strictly left side until you get out of Euclid. After that, who knows?

@zelgadis: Carafe of port and a glass materialize with some nice wheatmeal bisuits. Enjoy. When I was doing grading, I used to use the -(2i) system, and the students knew it. If you were late, you got -(2i) marks off where i = number of days late. As for human factors in marking, I fully understand. Cold coffee = low marks + very hard marking.

@ ephorex_77: Done. Now eat this all up. You can get anything you want as long as it is edible. I hope you like sardines. Prunes are easy to put in yoghurt, but I don't like it as an ice-cream topping.

@Dark Avatar: Well, then, what does the MOE supervisor of education for your area have to say about all this? Parents should be leaping all over him. While I am sure you wouldn't want a Singapore Sling, try this. One of strong, two of sweet, three of sour, four of weak = planter's punch What's in it, rum, sugar syrup, bar sour mix, water. A nice 10 oz. drink. Enjoy standing up. If you need to sit down, you've had too many.l

in walks an old man, mumbiling to himself, wearing a jacket with spoons glued on them, and a stovepipe had covered in spoons. he is holding 3 spoons in each hand, he starts dancing and waving his spoons in the air. than he starts patting people on the head with his spoons.

^check this guy out, i found him on Springfeild ave. back in Newark. so i let him in my cadillac, he said something about having to collect spoons for the martians or somthing, ill call him Spoonman, locals tell me he has been wandering Newark since the 40's!

*spoonman trys to feed a spoon to a zuke, and the zuke eats it

anyways i thought Vidioman could figure this guy out, since he wears video tapes all the time, and this guy wears spoons i thought they might have something in common.

anyways ill have a de-alchoholised beer, spoonman will take some deep fried spoons.

@Leech10: Assorted lumber, mostly construction grade spruce is teleported for the zuke. Enjoy. I see he likes spoons for dessert. John thinks hard a full set of spoons appear before the zuke, made of electrum.

@TT: Here's your beer. A bathtub full of gin appears and the spoonman is stripped and teleported into it head first. The zukes begin to eat all his spoons while scrubbing his back Wierd, my bhoyo, you haven't seen anything yet. The autosystem dresses the spoonman in morning coat, striped pants, patent leather shoes, spats and appropriate accessories. You see, you didn't recognize Al, the guy who built the railroad in Brother, Can You Spare a Dime.

@superstar: Welcome, superstar! An ice bucket appears with a bottle of Moet and Chandon Brut. Would you like something to eat with that? We have a nice Chateaubriand with some truffled pate with Strawberries Romanoff for dessert.

*walks in and notices the place filling up quickly. grabs a stool at the bar before it gets taken.*

    Hey fellas, hows it goin?

John, Barbyw is working on The Moose Factory lot, so I'll let you know when it's ready for release. We can have a big party here and everyone is invited. Think we might need a few chairs. I see the zukes are crafty, maybe they could build some chairs?

Spent the weekend in PA (like always) and spent Sunday walking around Hershey Park. Lovely little place. I actually got to go in the kissing tower for the first time in my life. 'Smoking prohibited - but you're welcome to kiss.' See, never had anyone to kiss at the park before.

And then spent Monday morning walking around Annville looking for an apartment. Lots of houses for sale, none for rent. Methinks I might be heading out of luck in this search. But I really want to leave this craphole my dad calls a house. Seriously, how are you going to buy a house and then put your 6'4 son in the basement with 1)no windows, 2)a ceiling with a max height of 6'5 and a min of 5'6, and in a room with the water heater, water pump and central heating contraption?

He is a little upset that I have decided to cross the Mason-Dixon line, but who cares what he thinks, he doesn't listen to me most the time anyway. And I figure once I get a place up there I'll be 1)closer to my girlfriend, 2)closer to my friends and 3)finally able to get a job for the summer.

But enough of that, it's time for a nice cool glass of Swiss Premium Iced Tea. I don't think I want to touch a glass of milk for awhile know that I have some inside information on what's actually going on as they load and unload the milk trucks.

Oh, and how do you like the MC Escher avator? That's my favorite part of Metamorphis II. Too bad the quality is so poor because the size.

@TT: Poor Al, no one has a dime for him any more. The autosystem materializes a note that says: Gimmie gimmie never gets/Don't you know your manners yet? TT, I am sorry but you have been automated out of this job. Why not just take the summer off and play?

@ephorex_77: A plate of pate de fois gras d'oie truffee appears with bottle of nice dry Chateau Margaux. A baguette appears close to hand.Three plates, I believe.

@ Leech10: A coast guard space cruiser? What will your friend, Mr. Muphridian, have to drink with his pizza? The pizza appears along with a partial drinks list.

@ead88: The chili dog appears, fixed the way it was imagined. Welcome, ead88. Maybe you would like something to drink with that?

@ brtim2: Hi, welcome back. Now that you have definitely taken on the responsibility for the BAT for this place, I will scrap my prototype. I see your dad has induced you to fly from the nest at last. Happy house hunting. Since we don't use the regular milk trucks, I shouldn't worry if I were you. The autosystem teleports the milk directly from the llama and sterilizes it here using solar gamma. The iced tea appears. There is a fake fly hung on the edge of the glass. Please note we keep these flies around for people who order a glass of ginger ale with a cherry in it.
I actually have admired Escher's work for a long time. First came across him while studying Conformal and Affine Geometries. He does some of the most surprising tessellations.

I stumbled across Escher this past spring when I was looking for some books on Bramante's works in Rome. I had to write a finals paper on it and near the Roman art books was a huge book of Escher's works, letters about his works, and sketches. I finally was able to take a look at the whole thing. It's amazing what he did and how he did some of his works. I find it great he could do work like Metamorphosis and more realistic works like Puddle and Atrani .

Hey, heard you just ordered a slurpee. What area are you from to call it a slurpee? In MD I always call in a slurpee, because of 7-11, no matter where it's from. However, in PA whenever we go out we get a 'slushi'.

It's all very confusing at first, just like the 'snowball/sno(w)cone' debate. It can't be a snowcone if the cup isn't a cone. So here they are all snowballs. Never really had a snowcone then, I don't think.

Without your support, we just would not be in our 24th year online!  You really help make this a great community. *:thumb:

But we still need your support to stay online. If you're able to, please consider a donation to help us stay up and running. This helps sustain a platform where we can share our community creations for years to come.

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!
