Network Addon Mod (NAM) overview

I'm sure a number of users can benefit from just seeing what's possible, some of these draggable situations are not obvious, for example I didn't yet know of the drag-pattern for the larger Road 90*, which is also used for the new OWR one too. I am often quick to recommend new users simply do what you've done here, open a blank city and just plop everything possible. Once you've a feel for what can be done, it makes building NAM networks much smoother.

By the way, the reason your roundabouts look funky is because you’ve an override (atmosguy’s Sandstone mod), which only includes the old non-wealthed textures. When you zone next to them, the newer wealthing appears which this mod doesn't include. Ideally, to ensure unzoned roundabouts match up correctly, you want to find those specific textures and remove them. A little tricky since you probably want most of the other textures of the mod, I think it would involve editing DAT files.

If you wanted a more up-to-date/comprehensive sandstone mod, perhaps you'd consider trying out my SWN instead? I'm doing a lot of mucking around with my development files, which necessitates running my scripts many times over. Therefore seeing this video today, I made a special version for SMP Sandstone, anyone can get a copy here.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

At the beginning of the video I say 'quick little overview' - yet it ended up being an hour. Lots of content to showcase haha - couldn't get through everything.

When it comes to the longer curves, I usually just place the flex curves instead. That way I don't need to memorize the drag pattern and/or have everything level. I do like the option of doing both, but since I am not very experienced to dragging (I'm still used to the old puzzle pieces, flex is still new to me let alone drag methods lol), and the vid was running longer than I anticipated, I left them out.

I'll make another vid sometime to cover the highway tab, and another one for rail and mass transit tabs (may bundle them together)

Thanks for the sandstone patch! I'll check that out! :)

Fine idea @Haljackey! I'll make sure to drop in from time to time!

Like @rsc204 mentioned, I too wasn't aware that you could actually make some 90-deg curves through patterns. It is not straightforward. Any learning material like yours is welcome!

The "SimCity 4" vanilla Opera House is the most evil thing in existence. Avoid.

Ah! Rail viaducts and rail pieces in general are great to work with. But I'll definitely have a look too. Who knows what else I could learn. :thumb:
