That looks very nice. I was waiting for some red summer trees.

Just added about 7000 cims worth of 1960s suburban housing to my ever-expanding asset showcase city. Not sure how far I want to take it after I've filled in these loose ends though. I hate the way my industry is set up, and after this it'd be heading into 1970s/80s exurban hellscapes with stripmalls galore and the odd office island to break it all up.

If that was my city, I think I would redo all the districts surrounding the downtown core with assets by Feindbild, Attercap, Prosper, etc. - in other words, give your city a historic core from where it develops outwards into your suburbs. In my city I'm going to build me some eye-watering suburban sprawl once I'm done with the old central part.

What is that big white building in the foreground that all the parking lots are sitting behind?

I'm testing out RICO functionality on my assets. Everything seems to be working swell, but I want to think some more on employment numbers and leveling (L3 produces only well- and highly educated jobs, which I don't like):

I don't have that specific building (a bit too big in relation to the rest in my city), but all your other recent ones are present, so it's great to see you embrace the PloppableRICO mod - hopefully more asset creators follow suit quickly!

Oooo, happy to see my light pillars are getting some use! :D

Good stuff! CS (with a few choice mods) really gives us some great freedom when it comes to making some huge airports.

Some updates of my city and some examples of the stack infrastructure/high density I'm going for. I haven't gotten around to fixing columns and pillars yet.

Decided to scrap whatever current progress I had on my city because I didn't like the terrain completely. Too steep on the terrain gradients, the peninsula didn't look realistically shaped enough, so I've reentered the map editor to do some terraforming and replan some of the infrastructure. When I originally started the idea it was meant to be a carry on of a city I made on Cities XL Plat using a downloaded Vancouver map.

2016-03-06_00001.thumb.jpg.e1b4d8a338ba4

Basically the work I did before I carried on today. I've still got some roads to plan out, two of the major highways going to where the main financial district will be are planned out. The road going to the stack in the middle now enters from the left instead of the bottom, which will form a central highway going down. I've got some of the pseudoagriculture on the left to redecorate where once was a forest. I've still got some terraforming to do (hill sloping, dealing with the mountains at the right, redoing some of the resources, adding some more rural roads scattered outside the boundary for realism reasons and considering whether or not to add more piers). Some of the other things will have to wait until I'm actually in game and starting the city to do since I need proper roads to help plan and layout and fine tune stuff (such as pier sizes, whether or not to add more or less, etc.) Gone is the tunnel under the lake. Gone are the dams at the top, I'll only have one dam from now on. Gone is another river. Replanned the ship lanes to separate the port and make it look more expansive. Don't be surprised if the map ends up looking vastly different since even the lake might get reshaped. Also plan on redoing the canals I had so they make more sense with where they go. Also plan on using Boformer's recent new Local Station mod to allow a bit more integration between the passenger networks.

The other aim is for a slightly more realistic city layout so the taller buildings are actually placed around a core and branches out rather than in a funny L shape.

I had to put those winter trees on hold. I'm trying to find the right balnce so they don't look like bird droppings when the LODs kick in. So for now it's time to celebrate spring. Here's a sneak peek at some flowering rose and Jasmine bushes.

The fine road heights mod put me out of commission for a couple days, but my next batch will have some!

Here's the new airport and I also terraformed in a volcano, inspired by Haneda and Fuji respectively.

A side project based on a thread appearing on Reddit to recreate this particular interchange in Paris, France.  Mainly worked on the western side of the interchange, the street view has revealed extensive construction work on the west side that made a lot of the ramps inactive seen in the overhead satellite photo.  (Don't worry, Seattle is still being worked on.)

Not sure whether this qualifies for this topic, but at least that's what I have been playing around with today. I guess most people will recognize the theme.

Some may even recognize the city.

It's funny how you can turn this upside down nowadays.
