there is a real good tutorial video online  about it:

I haven't tried it myself  but I believe the principle could also be applied to any other highway

use move it mod -- left click move - it removes almost any error if you move the nodes just a few meters

A few shots of some interchanges in my Metro Overhaul test city:

Nice interchanges. Very smooth. Move It and Sharp Junction Angles makes much more realistic interchanges and intersections possible.

I kind of feel like the fact that I need Move It, Sharp Junction Angles / Road Anarchy, No Pillers, Slope Limiter, Fine Road Heights and some terrain editing mods in order to make decent looking complex interchanges and highways means they kind of half-assed developing the road making interface.  Even with those mods, splitting 4 or six lane roads into two 2 lane one ways, off ramps or highways still looks a bit wonky.

In a way I agree, but to give CO the benefit of the doubt, I don't think they quite anticipated what the player base was going to do with this game.

There are a lot of people who play it like a game, essentially the way CO designed it, but there are people like us, the city painters, who want to take it to another level, then another, and another, and so on.

I'm just glad Unity is so flexible and CO designed the game with modding in mind so us painters are able to do things with the game that it wasn't originally envisioned to do, like creating increasingly realistic interchanges.

With the recent string of literally game-changing mods, give it a little more time and I bet all the bugs will be worked out and we'll be able to do just about anything.

With Move it tool I have easly created a puzzle piece in asset editor.

I made a 3 to 2+1 splitter/merger (call it how you want it) with alligned lanes and smooth transitions.  It looks very realistic but it's without any lanes. I wanted to add lanes as props but I'm unable to add custom props (bike lane) when asset type is set to intersection. I was able to do that when creating an asset as park but in this case I need a road connection which I wan't to avoid. (you need separate road to place park).

I tried Search box and More Beautification but they don't seem to work in asset editor.I can only add default props like Trees.

I was also able to add these lanes with advanced building editor but I don't want to use this mod as it was told that it is very buggy. After creating an asset this way the lanes show up on the intersection in a game but when you disable this mod they dissapear.

Any one know a way to add custom props in asset editor to an interchange (not park or other type)??

Maybe it's possible to create a park asset without a need of road connection?

That will make a possibility to create puzzle pieces which will speed up a process of building intersections.

I know it's a workaround but puzzle pieces are not that bad, they do their job. At least for now :)

I just kind of rediscovered the isometric view of the First Person Mod (and man it looks good [well, apart from the LOD distance]), so I happily snapped away screenshots, including a few that contain (parts of) interchanges:

Is this C:S or is it real? This is so realistic and beautiful!

Same interchange from different perspectives :D

And is working like a charm! No traffic issue at 90000 pop. Before I did it it was a huge disaster :D

Very nice. I like the extra touches with the quays. They add a lot.

Just a couple of things.

One, a couple of the tunnels look like they need to be raised slightly. One is dipping down further than the one across from it.

Two, where do the tunnels lead? I've looked and I can't see where they're supposed to go.

Great ! We need Real Highway mod!  Merging and acceleration lanes should look like that out of the box. I suppose we just need marking lines on that small intersection parts (places where 2 lane highway connect to 3 lane highway), nothing else is needed as Traffic President makes car go properly on existing intersections. I hope that will be added to the game one day....

I have to ask, why the loop on the westbound ramp? It doesn't seem to serve any purpose that I can see.

You won't like my answer but i wanted to make the interchange look unique from the generic ones

I Believe in achivement.

Aww c'mon man, Rocketship sounds much cooler ;)

But I agree: on the whole it follows the same layout as a cloverleaf. However the one defining thing that lends its name to this kind of interchange, the actual leaf-like shape of the inner ramps, is kind of missing in my intersection - that made me feel entitled enough to come up with a new name for it :D
