The main thing I notice, which also happens on your other BATs too, is that the materials are not done very well. The roof for example is incredibly reflective, you can clearly see the penthouse being reflected in the roof. 

And then for nitelites I think the best way to do it is to separate the panes of glass that will be lit up from the ones that will not be lit up. The night texture would be entirely lit up (some parts brighter or darker than others, but all of the texture represents lit up windows) and then the dark windows have no self illumination at all. 

The way I normally do this is that I keep the windows all as one object. I give them a Multi/Sub-Object material, and this contains the window frames material, the day glass material, and the night glass material. Which parts get what texture is determined by the corresponding Material ID. The night glass material is a copy of the day glass, but with the self illumination turned on. Both day glasses use the same uvw map, and then the self illumination part of the night glass uses an additional uvw map set up channel 2. 

I find that this way my windows are easy to keep track of, it keeps my material editor more tidy, and it makes it really easy to switch between night and day since I just have to turn off the self illumination in the night glass material. 

I'll try to keep this in mind. But my activity has really been on  a whole, waxing and waning so I'm not sure if I'll be doing it -- advice for the future I guess tho.

In any-case, if I were -- to hypothetically -- upload this soon, was there anyone willing to mod this thing?

I don't know why, but your images are not appearing properly on the threads. Maybe if you just open the image, right click and choose copy image it will work.

@JP Schriefer - I think the pics are working again, I just realized that the insert image options is on the "Insert other media"...

And suddenly, I actually mysteriously begin work on the Solow Building

And yes, I will work on making that hideous bump map look less...hideous

Considering the general quality of the bumpmaps (or the definitely lack of it) in the buildings of the game, that cristals look definitely not-hideous.

Beautiful work! Reminds me of when I made the Solow Building (in the days before BAT4Max), this looks a bit better IMO.

Something to think about is the reflection of the windows facing 58th Street, you might want to consider somehow creating the effect that it's reflecting Central Park and the Plaza Hotel just a bit in case someone BA'T's the Plaza Hotel later on in the future *Crossing fingers* In RL those windows are like a mirror for their surrounding environment. Just a suggestion.

@Hanson784 - I'll definitely take that onboard. I'll see what I can do with the reflections, maybe add some floral imagery on the ground plane. I'll have to see with the building reflections [ie. Plaza Hotel] depending on how it goes and if the file gets laggy , I could possibly add some low poly bldgs and simulate what would actually be around the Solow bldg

That's a very touchy subject as of now The whole way I've made the building is a complete and utter mess and I'm trying to figure out whether to go through with it or just scrap and start again. But of course, for that to happen, I need motivation to work on it and I'm all over the place right now XD All in all, the whole Times Square thing is in limbo -- not sure what'll happen to it for now

How I hate to tread on someones foot. Really. But seeing your last - and so promising - update here dates from january and it seemed to me you got tired by the missbehavior software often shows ... reading you lost interrest ... I'm a bit concerned you quitted batting silently.

So now I'll do something I really don't like to do and I can't stand it, when people are doing this with me. As I leave SimTrop sometimes for months, because it isn't my life (but most of the time funnier). This means: games are made entirely for fun and so should be batting. And if you lost interest (which is the same as losing fun, I suppose) - there can be no argument in the world to be held against that fact.

But ...

... if it comes to doing buildings with dark shiny glass facades, I personally think you're the best of the (possibly) active batters and I did a request over at the bat reqest thread and writing this request I immediatly remembered your work. So in a flashing of dauntlessness I ask:

May I give you a little inspiration to continue batting?
