@Linoa06.  Another stunning map from you. Always great to see your contributions to the thread.

@Joe 90.  Very cool. I like that you took the time to use white line markings on the lines, adds a great feel. The complete and incomplete ring roads look phenomenal. And you know I've admired your highway symbols for a long time - great to have them all gathered in one place.

If you remember my Imperial City Subway map from mid-2012, I have been working on a commuter rail network. It's loosely based on 2005-2013 era maps from Paris, though the network itself is more made to resemble some kind of English sprawling network. So, here goes ^^ 61 routes organized along two main networks, sprawling from the Imperial City outward. A common problem is the lack of transportation option for suburb-to-suburb transit, especially in the areas on the border of the Imperial Province (Zones 3/4/5)

Here's a PDF too! http://pdfcast.org/download/imperial-city-metrorail.pdf or http://pdfcast.org/pdf/imperial-city-metrorail

Hello everyone it's been a long time since I've posted here, but I have a new map to share; this map shows the highway networks of region I have been working on for a while; I actually created this about a month ago but had no time to upload and post it until now. Note that the yellow lines separate different regional counties, and that McGyer county has few highways because it's 100% urban and most of the highway network was constructed when it had already filled up the space...

Also note that at the top left, the "3w/607" signing is temporary, as in the future National Highway 3 will be extended as a national highway; it is currently in expressway status...

It's been a while. Above, you can find the map for the upcoming service which is slightly adjusted because of maintenance works.

This will be the new layout for New-Amsterdam maps.

Reminder of the previous map:

Here's a Google Maps styled..well map. This one represents Kvatch, my upcoming (Euro) city for Cities in Motion 2.

It's got a strong Leicester feel, though I also wanted to add aspects of Bonn (NRW, Germany) and Rouen (France) in places, and in general is a design of its own. The map itself is not finished as I will add subway and tram lines when I am done testing the city ingame. ^_^ This is why half the legend is still blank, too. The compass is also missing, mostly 'cause I still need to find a nice design, too. ^_^

As for the icons, I suppose if we zoomed in, we'd see references. There is another map, which isn't half as nice, which does have every name on it..now to figure out how to add them here without screwing up.

Pretty sure i might be the best...maybe. This map is completely centralized to lead to the center of the city. The rail is 100% grade seperated, and every road leads to an avenue, highway intersection, or a roundabout. Tell me what you think.

Sorry, i thought i figured out how to put the photo on here...guess not.

Well look at how the 12 occupants in THIS house commute to work and back!   And its a "short" trip for them.  if you've seen my region, its not around the corner where various modes of trans is available.

  1. 12 drive to one of the following depots that splits into various modes of transportation to work and back.
  2. 12 take the bus
  3. 12 take a passenger train
  4. 12 jump on the subway
  5. 12 take the monorail
  6. 12 ride the Elevated Rail

My third map in a short amount of time, and it might be my best yet.

It will be my last for the next period of time:

Indeed, much better improvement, TahR. Still don't like the line numbers (Line 6's is especially hard to read) and I admit that drawing that very line across the water looks strange..might also want to review station spacing on lines 4 and 6. Maybe change the font too, and harmonize the icons a little, but that's just my nitpicking, and many transit maps have such fonts and icons. :)

Still a very good improvement, though, it looks FAR clearer, nicer, appealing, and easy to read, definitely... good work   :)

Let me show you something I made on Railroad Tycoon II, on the fan-made map of metropolitan Los Angeles:

That's the geographical view of the current lines my company runs, not too shabby:

los_angeles.png

And that's the system lines map. I have been working on it the whole afternoon and evening, hope you like it! I had to change some line colours and to avoid displaying the shuttle lines, for the sake of the map readability.:

Here is the commuter rail system for my metro area of just over 1 million Sims.  It is a combination of Paris' RER and the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority's (MBTA or "the T") commuter rail system.  The idea was to create a transit-orientated and environmentally-friendly environment in a moderately-sized, American-style metro area (something that barely exists in the U.S).  The hubs, Central station and West station, tend to have 80,000 and 20,000 passengers per day, respectively.  Queries indicate that East and South station also receive heavy traffic (40,000 and 30,000 respectively).

And here is the subway, streetcar, and monorail systems that supplement the commuter rail in Greater Hippopolis:

Red outline indicates that the urban ring route is a highway (highway 10 in this case, and also part of highway 1).

Green areas indicate parts of the urban ring route that are used by other major labeled routes, e.g. E15 and E22.

Supposing they lightlight the routes using the ring road?

Bingo! :)

Red for national highways, green for the European E-roads.

Work-in-progress "Google Map" for my CJ, inspired by Packersfan's tutorial and excellent District of Wenzel streetmap.

What amounts to 10% magnification thumbnail (you can make out some detail!):

005-05_GoogleMapPeek3.png

...and here's a 75% closeup of the area just to the left of center above:

005-06_GoogleMapPeek4.png

A lot still needs to be done, i.e. route labeling, parks, POIs, etc. but the bones are done at least.
