Nice map! :) (Shame about the spelling mistake though, shedual should be shedule ;) )

Make that schedule.

Oops

^ Possibly related to the fact that it's a 22 Megapixel PNG image   ;).  Yikes.  It actually made Chrome crash for me.  (JPEGs are appreciated for those of us with slower computers and internet connections!)

The image would benefit from being much smaller, anyway. Not when making or editing it, but to view it properly in this thread, it doesn't contain enough detail to warrant the size. In which case making the font bold would probably help with readability.

Internet and computer is not a problem for me, the image loads in seconds and my computer can run high end 3D games without lags.

Nice map, but it makes my browser (chrome) lag.

It might just be chrome itself because according to my computer and ip (cox) my connection is 54 mbps, and my computer has a dual 1.8 processor and it still made chrome crash on my computer, and when it did load chrome crashed when I tried to +1 the post

Do we still have that 800x600 maximum picture size rule?

I think 54 mbps is the LAN/WiFi Speed, not Internet. Why? 54 is uncommon for internet speed, but common for network speed. And dual core 1.8GHz is very slow now except for ultrabooks and tablets. Even modern day laptops have at least 2.0GHz (lowest end non-ultra notebook), and desktops 2.8GHz (pentium D)

No, since the site automatically resizes pictures.

Perhaps we need it back, or something to stop people posting 2726 x 8370 px images, which is just a little bit over the top. If you really need to post something enormous, please post a small version with a link to it.

yes, my laptop is on wifi, but my ip advertises the 54 mbps in commercials all the time, claiming to be "the fastest internet in america". and my laptop came out a few weeks after the windows 7 launch, so its relatively old...

Well, I don't think I've posted anything in here for a lonnngg time, so here's my latest map(And the largest and most complicated I have ever made). It depicts the subway system of a city in one of my sandbox regions. Note that I started making this map back in early June and finished it last night. I know in some places it looks a little disorganized, but that's because I kinda laid it out a little weird. Also note that I only built the area within Line 1(The circle line) is actually in SC4, so outside, it is all conceptional.

Haven't posted here in a while. A new map of the High Speed Rail and Light Rail system with interchanges to ferry and bus of New-Amsterdam. It is partly underground. Also, some lines have been cut and almost all lines have a new route. Some effects are added to the map, to prevent it from being 'too smooth' - I hate that. I'm really proud of it, for a third go!

And, corresponding with my map from above, the line strip of the third Light Rail line. Well, I think this might be one of the most detailed maps for the sake of travel information haha.

Sorry for the double post.

By the way, station names and change information may not match cause I made this map way earlier than the one above, thus only changed the month in the image.

Ooops, I set the DPI too high when exporting the svg, I made the size smaller - I apologize, no need for such anger :(

So I was working on a map for my second cj, Henderson Island. And I came to a snag while creating a map for Shorecoast, the map is mainly for the university. As you can see in the picture below, I have no where to place labels at. Should I put extra tiny labels, numbers in the map an a legend somewhere else, cause I'm stuck...

TahR: Seriously digging that strip map.

Spent the evening working on a transit map of my newest City, Devon.  The style of the city is a cross between Pacific-NW, Berlin/European, and Hong Kong.  I'm using the awesome but mountainous Pacific Rim map, so the transit is sure to be interesting.

This is my first time making a map in Illustrator, and I'm still learning, but after AI I can't imagine trying to make a map with a pixel editing app again.

****Bonus points if you spot a doctor who reference!

Thanks, I used Adobe Illustrator for this one.  Its my first time using it and it has a really steep learning curve.  The pen tool is really handy and you can edit the paths of the lines even after you create it.  This is why vector programs like Illustrator or Inkscape are recommended instead of pixel programs like Photoshop.

Anything that can draw a line will work, its just that some programs are easier for mapping than others. You could draw a map in Word if you were masochistic enough.

I use Inkscape myself.

You can edit paths in photoshop in a similar way (with a similar learning curve). True, vector output is great for resizing, but you can achieve pretty much the same product if you are familiar enough with the program.
