I've never had/played a baseball video game or a SNES before. The first console I had was the PS1.

It's soothing to watch that at a high speed. Almost hypnotic.

Easter Sunday has more traffic than a normal Sunday because it is a holiday and people are traveling to be with family.

Indeed, the best time for traffic in most cities (besides in the middle of the night) is probably between 10 AM-4 PM on a weekday - since that's when most people are at work and thus not traveling. Outside of that window on a weekday you of course have rush hours from everyone commuting, and on any day that's not a workday, you will have people out and about at all times doing other stuff.

If you really want to play baseball as a video game, maybe it's worth spending $50 on once. But $50 every year? Bah, get outta here. I'm wise to your tricks and I ain't fallin' for 'em.

Its $65 every yea and well worth it, I'd still buy it if it were $100, I log more time in sports games then any other kind.

I loved playing Ken Griffey Jr. for SNES.  That's the level of video game baseball realism I'm at.  Same thing with the newer Madden games, the roster updates are nice, I guess, but the older games that are less detailed and less realistic are more fun to me.  If I wanted to scout college players for and NFL team (or in the college game smooze recruits) I'd have followed that career path.  God, what a pain in the backside all that nonsense is.

I started my baseball video game career playing Frank Thomas's Big Hurt Baseball for the Sega Saturn, fell in love with sports games ever since.

They have a new R.B.I baseball out this year that looks like the old 90s ones.

Yeah I could never really get into baseball in video game form. Football? Heck no. Hockey? Certainly but I agree with Duke. I don't want to get a new one every ear. All that is fairly irrelevant though since I don't own any new consoles.

I do not own any current gen consoles, but I should have a 3DS come summer and a Wii U by the end of the year. Because Smash Bros.

3490

Knowing me, I've considered getting a Wii U because of EarthBound, and also an upcoming Zelda game...

And I got Sim City 2013 and I hated it then, and I hate it now.

Are you talking about current gen as PS3/360/WiiU Or current gen as in PS4/Xbone?

(3492)

I think the weirdest N64 game I ever played was Glover. I mean, you play as this glove walking around on two of its fingers. That's... unique.

I remember that game! The shark always killed me when he flattened my ball.

3493: I have about 50 N64 games. My brother once found Snowboard Kids 2 in a shop for $20; it now sells second hand in excess of $200.

I began the process of trading in games for N64 two years ago and only got a few dollars for them :\

Still have about 1/4th of my collection.

"Current gen" would be PS4/XB1/WiiU for home consoles and 3DS/PSVita for handheld.

The WiiU is not in the same generation as the PS3 and 360, unless that was intended as a sarcastic jab at Nintendo; :P

I refuse to acknowledge that the WiiU can be consider in the same league as the newer consoles, It is clear that developers have the same view.

I liked that one, and I liked the SNES version, although that game was hard as hell.

Wicked hard. The shutterbug missions were especially hard to get full points on. I spent a great deal of time just poking around with the jet pack looking for easter eggs.

Nintendo has certainly gone down a different path from Sony and Microsoft in their console design. Their product is designed to be unique and to appeal to casual gamers, whereas Sony and Microsoft aim to have powerful hardware and appeal to hardcore gamers. This strategy worked very well for Nintendo with the Wii (it outsold the PS3 and 360 by a significant margin), but the Wii U has not had similar success.

Interestingly, though, if you look at the numbers, all three major consoles of this generation haven't sold all that well. Now that everyone has smartphones and tablets that they can play games on, it's tough to sell a game console to anyone who isn't a hardcore gamer. Your casual gamer is going to ask why he should drop $300 on a game console when he just dropped that much on another device which is perfectly capable of playing games that he enjoys.

At any rate, even if the Wii U isn't "in the same league" as the PS4 and Xbox One, it is still in the same generation - a statistic which depends purely on release date.

The PS4 has sold 7 Million so far, its only been 5 months, is that considered not selling well? Sony has had trouble keeping it in stock, I went blazer shopping at Sears 2 days ago and noticed they only had one PS4 in stock, decided to look at Target on the way back too and they were out of stock, so product is moving quickly.

As for the Wii, Is the Ouya considered "Next Gen" too since its release date is recent? I always considered each gen to be based on raw power and specs.

I'm so over consoles.  But if I have a chance to pick up a PS2 real cheap or an SNES with a huge collection of games at a reasonable price, I may consider my current stance of screw new video games in general.

5 months? *checks* Derp, you're right, for some reason I was under the impression that it was released in 2012. Okay, then it is selling well.

What I said about casual gaming and smartphones/tablets still applies to the Wii U, though.

As for the Wii, Is the Ouya considered "Next Gen" too since its release date is recent?

The Ouya is an oddball, but it fits in 8th generation, yes.

I always considered each gen to be based on raw power and specs.

And you would be wrong. Generations are determined by release date because the point is to group consoles according to which ones are contemporary to each other, not according to how their specs line up. I mean, if someone were to release an 8 bit console today, would it really make sense to stick it in the 3rd generation with the NES and Sega Master System?

It may be true that the Wii U has hardware specs that put it on par with the PS3 and Xbox 360, but it is not a competitor to them since it was released in their waning days. In the grand scheme of things, hardware specs are a minor and relatively unimportant detail. The vast majority of people looking to buy a console don't care how fast the processor is or how much RAM it has. When you line consoles up by cultural era, release date is the most important determining factor.

Regardless about console gaming thing, I still prefer PC for full customization for simulation games.

Yes, you can play Forza5, Gran Turismo 6, WRC 4, or Dirt3 in Xbox or PS, but some people (including me) prefer PC's to maximize the real simulation feel with adding hardware and such....

Nothing can beat PC in Simulation gaming, who wants to play Train Simulator 2014 in PS? Also if you disagree, that is O.K, this is only my opinion.

I never had much history with consoles and neither do I find leisure with playing with the modern consoles now. Personally, I have to agree with you, if choosing between consoles or PC, I'd rather choose the latter. There is so much a PC can do than any consoles, in gaming and not. :D

When I do actually hook up an old console of mine I typically get bored with it after a few hours. That or I start playing Super Mario bros. and eventually it gets all screwy and I have to reset. Then it sits on the floor for 3 weeks until I put it back in the closet. I'd say I'm about due for that. It's been a while since I plugged any in.
