Well I am back here with the release of Cities Skylines and the transition of working in the city again with hours favourable to getting some gaming done. I always like this community and am glad to put the effort into being a part of it again.

I just returned from a short break in which I had the opportunity to go camping in California's Gold Country. The campsite was east of a town called Colfax and situated alongside the North Fork of the American River and deep inside a canyon. Despite the drought that is hitting the state, the surrounding area was beautiful!

 

This shot was taken during a hike not far from the campsite. We were on our way to visit a trail known as Windy Point Trail.

I also managed to get Cities: Skylines during the Steam Summer Sale, so I might start a journal with that game.

Now that I moved far away from Seattle and started pursuing a STEM degree from an accredited university, I realized that the phase of my life where I heavily relied on videogames (as a means of entertaining myself while giving me the feeling of control) has ended. I visit this site less often now than before and spend less time with the site open in my browser (not even posting) than I used to devote to posting.

I will probably continue to lurk for a while but I already made the switch from standard Internet fora to Reddit and real life (and sites/apps that help me connect with people in real life, such as Facebook)

How is that brainwashed? Part of my decreased presence here is because all my friends I made here have moved to social media and I see them more there instead, i still try to poke around here but chat is often empty and many don't come here often anymore.

Well, facebook was the first well-known site (with mobile apps as well) that helps people who know each other in real life communicate without remembering phone numbers. I used it to reconnect with old friends and started using it to meet new friends in the area I moved to. I also try to go for a walk around town and campus every day and try to be friendly and sociable. There are other sites and apps I recently started using in order to begin pursuing, um, relationships but facebook is a good, clean, and well-known example.

It seems that a city builder has finally arrived to tempt this particular SC4 dinosaur back into the world of Simtropolis. Just getting started with Cities: Skylines and it looks as though we might finally have a worthy successor.

I've only been around a year or so actively, but since British SC4 content is few and far between, yours was some of the first I downloaded...

One of my favourite shots using your buildings from a recent city. I am particularly fond of spring cottage and the barn house building, really fantastic quality. I just had to stick them in a rural environment away from the city. So erm, thanks for all your buildings, they are great .

Nice to see you here, Skylines is an enjoyable game, I'm looking forward to seeing how it matures in future, it has a lot of potential.

Welcome back.  I think that you may find that C:S may satisfy a craving for 3D toys, but in the long run, you'll find yourself returning to SimCity 4 Deluxe.

Unsure how many remember yours truly, but I decided to poke around for the first time in a very long time today.  It's hard to believe that I picked up my first copy of SimCity when I was a freshman in high school...now, I'm 28 and living on my own in the city of Buffalo, NY.  I'm a professional insurance agent, and I do public address & music for several area hockey teams. 

I'm also getting married in July to a sweet gal who might love hockey more than I do. 

We shall see if I pick the BAT back up & start churning out road signs again.  Hopefully, I'm able to do so.

@Ryan B: Welcome back.  Just remember that all this is a leisure time activity.  I happen to be almost exactly 50 years your senior and I've been playing this game since it came out.

Good luck in your wedding planning, and do let it interfere with your work on the game.  Have fun at both.
