1. Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri --> Best turn-based strategy game ever!

2. Simcity 4 (with mods)

3. Battlefield Bad Company 2

Honourable mentions would be the Ratchet and Clank quadrilogy (1 to 4), the Jak and Daxter trilogy and also Transport Tycoon.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

Hard to give a #1 of all time. I will, however, provide what I believe to be the best for each system I've owned.

I am limiting my list to systems and games that I have actually owned. Killer 7, for example, may have been the most amazing thing ever, but I've never owned it, and it therefore does not make the list.

Atari 2600: Demon Attack - Your basic shoot-em-up, but always a lot of fun. Honorable mention to Combat

Atari 800: Rescue on Fractalus - An amazing simulator for the era. Honorable mention to the Archon series.

Intellivision: Dungeons and Dragons - Very fun and very hard.

NES: Guardian Legend - Yes, even better than Zelda. A massive adventure and great variety of gameplay. Honorable mention to Zelda, of course.

SNES: Chrono Trigger - Yeah, it is really tough to decide between this and Zelda.

N64: Conker's Bad Fur Day - Controls were pretty stiff, but I just about crapped myself laughing the whole way through. On a side note, I didn't think Ocarina of Time was a particularly strong Zelda entry. The graphics looked like hell and I feel that the Twilight Princess gameplay was much smoother.

GameCube: Zelda: Twilight Princess - Thank the heavens that this came out on GC as well as the Wii. Honorable mention to Wind Waker, the other Zelda game. I rather like the sailing.  :)

PS1: Chrono Cross - That game made me gay. Honorable mention to Final Fantasy IX.

PS2: Final Fantasy XII - Hard to believe this game was made for PS2. It looks better than that. It's not without its faults, however. Some of the voice acting is pretty phoned in and the game has a very irritating habit of having entirely random sidequest requirements that they don't tell you about. Everything else is near perfection. Honorable mention to Dragon Quest VIII

PS3: Disgaea 3 - Weird choice, I know, but it's the one I consistently go back to and play.

GameBoy: Zelda: Oracle series - Weird how they made these two games interconnected.

GameBoy Advance: Golden Sun - Great story for such a primitive game.

3DS: Luigi's Mansion 2 - I'm starting to really enjoy this series.  :)

SimCity 4 Rush Hour is my alltime favorite video game. I've played it WAY more than any of the dozens of games I have ever bought over the years. Some others I still like and play:

1602 AD (I have the whole series but thought 1602 the best)

Railroad Tycoon

Sid Meirs Railroads (Like to see aspects of RT and SMR combined with a city builder)

Tropico (have them all)

Age of Empires

others...

I like retro games, the games of my youth, much better than I like just about anything that's come out in the last ten years or so.  I'd rather play SNES than PS3 or XBox238653428765n+1 or whatever they're calling it.  So, my favorite games catalog looks like this:

SimCity (SNES)

SimCity 4

ChronoTrigger (the first game I ever beat)

The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past (because I suck really bad at 3D games)

Civilization IV (I like III, too, but IV is more fun to me)

Super Mario World

Star Fox

Almost any MarioKart game

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turltles IV: Turtles In Time

Gran Turismo 2 and Gran Turismo 5 (GT2 has some cool American cars, and GT5 has great everything... except for '&'%&$&'(&%$&&'%'&()#'$)#$(#") DLC and microtransactions for extra cars and tracks, I haven't yet played GT6)

NHL [year]

NCAA Football [year]/Madden [year] (I think it's a waste of money to buy a whole new sports game every year, 07 was probably good enough)

I also liked X-Men 2: Clones Wars, Virtua Racing, and Sonic 2 for Sega Genesis, but SNES was the better system with the better games.

Speaking of retro games, I recently got onto a very old classic again: Dungeon Master (first released in 1987)! Saw that someone on YT had a Let's Play on it, watched a few episodes, saw that there's a faithful remake containing all sequels that runs natively under Windows (no DOSBox or emulator necessary), and - bang! - I was hooked again.

Huston, we probably already knew no.1, and no.3.

I haven't heard of some of the others, i.e. what's Red Alert 2?

Yeah, I guess that was already obvious huh? What gave it away

Red Alert 2? It's this nifty little isometric viewed 2D strategy game that I loved as a kid, and still do now. I play it from time to time and with others playing it on LAN, just adds to the fun. It was simple to get and fun to play for hours on end. Especially when resources were plentiful, then you could pummel everything in your way :P

Here's a snapshot of the game:

I still love the game after years since it was first released. :D Ahh the memories.

Sigh... I remember the huge hordes of tanks and infantry. For some reason I always picked the Libyans because they had this armoured truck with a tactical nuke inside of it; a nuclear suicide bomber. You could build as many of these trucks as you wanted.

Hmmm geez.

I'd say it's a shakedown between Shift 2, Forza 1, SimCity 4, Mirror's Edge, and Descent 3. Possibly also D2 if you want to get technical, by games that inspired me at a young age.

Let's be honest though. I'm just refraining from mentioning SimCopter and SimTower.

EDIT: To those above: Yes. Red Alert 2. Yes. So good. Also, dat soundtrack.
