Loved these last images, a pity that the size of the cities are so small..

I'm pretty sure the beta was just a really watered-down version of the real game and doesn't represent what the final release will look like.

For their own sake, they should've made the Beta be less restricted and greater than an hour's length so the backlash wouldn't have been so big.

The British screenshot should have traffic lanes switched, such that traffic moves on the left side of the road, not the right side. Unfortunately, SimCity is an American game, as much as RollerCoaster Tycoon is a British game.

For Britons, Australians, and others, there should be regions where all traffic moves on the left side of the road.

I fixed the screenshot.

Just wait for the non-preorder normal edition. If you wait a month or two, it'll even be cheaper. This is what I'm intending to do at the moment.

Still a little peeved that they haven't done anything about the signage. When you click on a building, it tells you what it is named, so why not use those names as the basis of the signage?

There's still something wrong with it: the busses should be red, not coloured with the UK flag. If you have red double decker busses now THAT would be really British:

Also, you see that the cabine is also on the wrong side of the bus

Best,

I still like what I see in the screenshots.

Maybe the only way to deal with the small city maps is to really use a region. One city with only industry, one with commerce and one with residential. That way you can fulfill your city map with more of the same.

Another thing: I would like to see more screen shots with these great works.

True. It seems that SimCity has the correct buses (just painted the wrong colour) for the British style with the correct cabin locations, despite all the traffic moving on the right. The SimCity version of British cities are painfully stereotypical (and wrong). It is like having a Canadian city tileset, having all the trams painted with maple leaves on the top (which is not true in Toronto, despite the trams being painted red).

AFAIK only SC4RH has LHD.

Also, in EA's defense regarding the lack of 1x1 main roads, the US is one of the few countries (Along with I believe Canada, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand) that has demolished downtown areas to improve roadfreeway networks.

The color blindness thing is interesting, I didn't know the lead QA tester had a problem.

And they really need to redo the UK buses. They're not doing their research. Someone from Maxis correct me if needed.

EDIT: The cabin Locations depend on the drive side.

Also, can someone compile a list of Simlish letters seen so far?

Well, that explains why the game was sooo awesome. Also explains why the 1st in the series was loaded with English theme parks!

Waiting, waiting, waiting for the release.... shots aren't enough for me. Those do look nice nonetheless, better than nothing I suppose.

...as for the people who still don't understand. You'll get there, maybe... :kitty:

That filter really makes everything feel dull and boring. It goes good with the factories and stuff, but it still looks dull, and it really isn't good for a small town with suburbs and stuff.

They really really need to add something to fill up the spots between the buildings and the road. All these spots with grass looks so wrong >.<

For me, the problem is that 2 lanes are too many. First, it takes too much space, and secondly, it doesn't feel European at all.... :noway:

You can have narrower roads (1 lane in each direction) but the devs tend to use the wider roads in their cities almost exclusively, to create high-density zones, I suppose.

I think the kind of road I'd like to have will be available in the in-game store content !!!

(just need to provide €5 more after purchase...)

Worst airport ever.

Edit: Not even Heathrow, one of the busiest airports in the world doesn't even have three runways! And being sat next to each other looks absolutely ridiculous, and no runway for a proper airport (not an airstrip) in the world is 500-ish metres long. I honestly think they should scrap in-city airports and just have the regional one, until the city size is reasonable (even then, it would be a very small airport). This is absolutely atrocious, Maxis.
