You may have already seen something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QAHIYCYB3o, but if not it could help with achieving a glow. The first few aren't terribly great but there might be some workable material in there.

I'm still noticing new details in the base every time I come back and look :D

That building looks awesome. And so does the church, I just love how good the church looks.

When you make your lights, you can choose different presets for wallwash and other types of lights. Then, you can use the scale tool to change the photometric web to personalize it some more, whether you want it thinner or wider or taller. Try that out.

Hi Za, thanks for the link.. I tried the glow effect and its came out pretty good I think. and Darn, thanks for the tip for the lights, I will give that a go. Thanks for the nice comments Nbafan and Mystic Desitny.

I tried a couple of test day exports today.. its very slow going and a bit frustrating, I exported LODs fit for a 7x6 lot and it fit perfectly on the lot but the lot editor said it couldn't save because the model was too big for the lot... hours of rendering wasted :(

I made Bourke Place while I was waiting though!

I'm sure there's a way to bypass the 6x6 lot limit. Check with someone who works with Ilive Reader. I don't really have any experience there but I've seen plenty of lots larger than 6x6.

I think the trouble was that the LE doesn't accept buildings that aren't contained within the lot size (i.e. overhang... I've found sometimes it looks like it's fitting, but doesn't for some reason). Though, in line with PBGV103's comment, you can - I've read - tweak the size of the building via the model file in the reader.

Yeah, first, delete the .SC4Desc and the .SC4Lot that you had made, and then when you have only the .SC4Model file, open it in the Reader, and find the xml file, and then edit the dimensions there. That's how the plugin manager decides what the size is. After you make the .SC4Desc and .SC4Lot files those dimension numbers get copied around a few places so you'll want to edit it in the .SC4Model first so that you don't have to go around hunting down all the places where the dimensions show up.

If you're using PIM-X, it doesn't use the XML file for those numbers but it's easy enough to just change the size directly. iirc it's the occupant size. Just remember though, that the filling degree is based on the volume based on the occupant size so if you make the occupant size smaller it will lower the number of jobs.

Also, I think those dimensions are what the game uses for the construction scaffolding, so try not to make it much smaller than the building really is.

If you are getting frustrated with the building and don't feel like meddling around much more, just send me the model and I'll get it on that 7x6 lot you had in mind. :)

I had trouble finding it at first. Then I noticed it, and realized there were 4 of them. Spectacular job, it fits with the game perfectly.

Looking great :) I'm liking the night windows - seem to have depth enough to me.

The only thing I can find is that the purple lights in the corners seem to be emanating from white sources. Then again, it might be that lights with that intensity appear white from this distance anyway. Not terribly important.

Yes... I was wondering about that too... I think you're right. I need to re-run the export anyway.. hilarious... I forgot to un-hide the rest of the model and only exported the tower! :boggle:
