there is also some green trimming on the windows, but as people metioned, definately needs to be lighter...anychance we can see it at the normal zoom 5 to make a better judgment of how it'll look in game? Looking forward to this one :)

Such a fine line between under-saturated and over-saturated...! I think this is pretty close now. I'm going to stop work on it now and see what it looks like in the context of the rest of the building and tweak it then. The tower is coming along nicely I should be able to post something in the next couple of days...

Thie facade is beautifully modelled. :D

Your roof has some odd flat areas where the facade seems to extend back over the pitched roof from the parapet: I'm not sure what they are for - if you take a look at the aerial view you can see it is a plain pitched roof with three projections behind the bays of the facade. There should be no flat areas on this roof.

    http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=120+Collins+Street,+Melbourne,+Victoria&sll=-37.814382,144.969740&hl=en&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=120+Collins+Street,+Melbourne+CBD+Victoria+3000&ll=-37.814416,144.969755&spn=0.00038,0.0006&t=h&z=21&vpsrc=6

I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses: and you're right, it is a fine line between over and under saturated... I think the bricks are a little too ruddy at the moment, although in terms of colour and saturation it will be a case of judging the old part of the building once the glass tower is added.

Thanks Mattb325.. to be honest I just made the roof bit up so it wasn't incomplete for this posting, but it was only temporary until I attach it to the rest of the building then I will remodel the roof properly once I have the scale right. I'm glad you posted that though, I hadn't got as far as even looking at the roof and I was wondering how it all hung together... looks pretty cool :)

Here's my first untextured posting of the the tower. Still needs a lot of work and I still haven't started the base. This model is actually a lot harder than I thought it would be. The antenna was fun to do though.

Here's my liberal interpretation of the base.. That circular staircase thing looks hideous so will have another go at that.. then may as well make a start on the textures and see what smaller details evolve out of that. Is it just my imagination or do these renderings look really huge? I better check out in-game in case I've scaled it wrong somehow...

Yeah you've done a great job with the antennae. It takes a lot of patience and dedication to do that kind of stuff, it's not fast and fun like modeling facades is!

The main thing with the stairs is the incline. For SC4 you generally have to exaggerate the size of the step, because if the steps are too fine the stairs looks like a ramp. But you can't exaggerate the incline because then it looks wrong. So if you can figure out exactly how high the level the stairs are getting to, and how far back the stairs go, you can figure out and fix the incline and then experiment with the step size within that.

    Does that make sense? lol

Thanks for the tips Jasoncw. If i'm understanding correctly think that's pretty much what I did, but I do agree the incline is a bit steep. I'll keep playing with it.

Maikeli, appreciate the feedback but unfortunately you haven't given me much to go on. Things I identified about the roof and have fixed already are:

    - I accidentally invented a third tier that doesn't exist so I removed it.

    - I added in the small railings above those vent things.

    - I've made the antenna a bit fatter

    - I've added some ornaments to the roof

If there's anything else specific you thought of could you please let me know :)

Xander, I was recently inspired by the amazing AMAZING work Darn42 did on the Tribune Tower I was thinking of doing the Manchester Unity building on Collins & Swanston. It doesn't have anywhere near the same elegance as the Tribune Tower but I thought it would be a fun project to do.

Have you ever tried BATing, if so you'll know how long it can take and how people can only work on one building at a time and how it's easy to request something but not so easy to make. He's currently working on 120 Collins, perhaps offer some criticism or praise on the currentl building rather than aski if he is going to build every building in Melbourne :)

One more thing I'll add to that is you have to remember its as much about the process as it is the result. I need projects which challenge me and keep me interested. I think churning out a series of modern glass highrise after highrise will start to get boring after a while.... hence my reluctance to go back to the Rialto.. but I promised I will, its too great of a building to not try and get it right! (In fact, that will be my next project before the MU building)
