Oh man, with this and Darknono's art deco things coming down the line, I could not be more excited for some of the new BATs.  This look gorgeous.  Also exciting to see renderings (to some degree) of the cathedral, Federation Square, and Hamer Hall have been started.  I would love all three for my city!

I have to head out so I'll quickly just respond to the point about the steepness.. yes, I agree, but actually they were never intended to be seen. On the Station side they are hidden under the station itself, and on the Fed Square side there will be an overhang piece like in the photo below. But, not everyone is going to want this, and its going to be too hard to explain, so I have just lengthened it and will upload for those that want it. Let me know if this looks better or still needs to be longer? (This is 4 tiles long) Don't worry about the textures for the minute, I will rescale them shortly.

Yes, the long term intention is to make a more accurate recreation, but I intend to release that with the Fed Square BAT because its going to have to tie into that model somehow. I was just offering these as a courtesy until I get around to it. I know there are other rail>underground transitions on the STEX, well actually only one I could find, but these are offered as an alternative :)

Actually.. as I've been typing I don't think I will release these after all - the download is already going to be very convoluted with lots of pieces that will also be in different menus (yuk).. also this rail transition piece doesn't have any pathing, the train flies through the air until it hits the wall. Humorous.. but not very realistic :P

On this note.. I think I'm done. All going to plan should be released later today :)

    Hi

I downloaded your Hearld & Weekly Times bldg. But I have a small problem. The diagonal version is good, the straight version I get a brown box on.

It mistafies me because I thought if one version is good why not the other, Same bldg right?

    No dependencies correct?

    I'm at a loss?

    Idea's?

Hi Robdragon, no, its a different building model, in order to fix it you will need to download the file called 'HWT Maxis Night Model' or if you use the Darknite mod, the file called 'HWT Darknite Model'. (Don't download both, and get the Maxis night if you're not sure)

In case you're interested, this is why - one might naturally assume its the same building, where one is rotated on the lot and one isn't. Unfortunately it doesn't work like that (wish it did!), the model itself needs to be rotated before it gets exported for the game. Consequently you end up with two versions, a straight version (orthagonal) and a diagonal version.

Now if anyone jumps in here and tells me you can rotate the props on the lot I'll be both happy and sad at the same time... oh the hours I've spent exporting diagonal models!

    Hope this helps...

No I don't think there is a way. Otherwise I would have made every lot diagonal in the lot editor by now.

No, 45° rotation is impossible. You either have an orthogonal prop or a diagonal prop to begin with, but when you rotate, the rotation steps will be locked to 90°, and in order to get it diagonal or orthogonal in the first place, you need to render it accordingly. The possibility to rotate in steps of 45° each would, after all, only make sense if the game offered corresponding camera angles - which it doesn't.

The transition looks better now! How does it look if you make it even longer?

My god....you are churning them out at a rapid rate of knots, yet the quality is supreme.  Flinders St is a work of pure class, as are all your creations.

Wonderful we should hold the trixies now, cause I think we all know the winner!! Hahahaha!!  Loving all your BATs, they are just supreme and those night lights look wonderful :D

For the train transition to underground, there was someone a while back that did an underground project (cannot think of his name right now, frustrating!!!! Anyone else know??) who did one of the best transition to underground I have seen, would be nice to see it done like that. Just a thought.

Hi, thanks for kind words everyone, both on here and on the Stex.

Art/Darknono/Roger, I'm not actually doing any more work on the rail transition pieces until I get around to BATing Fed square, although if there are some good versions already existing out there I would like to see them. Thanks for nice comments as well :)

Jwsteele/ Odainsaker/Sloonei- I have modelled some 'prototype' buildings that I am using as a template to build the actual models on (to plan out lot sizes etc) hoping to start on some of these soon :)

Bipin/Xander/CityMaster/Twrecks/Yoshi - I've probably missed some, but thankyou as always

Oh yes, Libelbicus... great to seeing you back in the forums missed seeing you around!

Jason, thanks! and yeah, the skylight was a bit of a fluke really. I had this idea of what I wanted it to look like and I actually got pretty close first render... that never happens lol.

So I've done a bit more work on the water reflections, and thats about it really... I think its done? Let me know what you think :) I still have to do the nightlights on the garden annex though.

If only this could be done with road. Having the best BATers conduct such a project, doing a few pieces each, we could create a whole subterranean, FLUP-based network in no time! On that note, if one created well-LODed overhanging props and placed them over FLUPs, would the vehicles below-ground then show through as if they were driving not underground, but below surface streets, albeit in an exposed trench, akin to these trains?

I had a look at Mcdrye's stuff.. that was some really nice work I hope it got released. i eventually got to the renders of the subway transitions, they were just beautiful, clearly built by a railway enthusiast and defintiely put mine to shame :uhm:  Bipin, you amaze me you never stop thinking of ingenious new things to try.

Thanks for those comments on the Gallery night render... I've done a first cut on the annex garden... its looking a bit more fairytale-wonderland than the real thing thats for sure...

At first when I was looking closely at each render I was thinking there might too much bling but I think thats actually part of the appeal, most of that will tone right down in the game render anyway. What I might do is try an in-game export and see how it comes out.

I do need to fix the windows though, no matter how much I reduce the intensity they still look like camera flash bulbs, I might need to check the right material has been applied. And that striped light pattern on the triangular roof I was just trying for effect, I think its worked well but I need to reshape the lights so they fit the shape of the roof properly. I think I need a light a source as well but no idea what this would be... maybe some halogens or something.. hard to tell.

Anyway, I look forward to your comments :)
