Convention center sounds like a good idea. :) It really works in that context, I think.

I've had a couple of ideas for the underpass... the original concept was to build the tunnel as part of the BAT and transit-enable it, but I hadn't considered the underpass goes under St Kilda Road, not just under the Arts Centre, so I didn't build it as part of the BAT. Also, it only matters if you're building a Melbourne re-creation, so it might be up to the users to work out if/how they want to build it, maybe using FLUPs or something...? As I said I did have one idea which I will test and post if it works.

I think the more pertinent question though, Yoshi, what is with your avatar? Hilarious

As far as usage goes, I'm hoping to release as an Opera House if I can work out how to mod it that way, otherwise it will probably just be another museum, but the prop will be included so skilled enough folk can make whatever they wanted out of it :)

Thanks for nice comments so far, I've realised I've used the wrong material on the spire building, it should be more silvery-metalic long tiles, I've made more of a concrete bunker, so will need to fix that, currently working on nightlights...verrryyyy slow process but coming along quite nicely :)

    It's a Ruddkip!

One way I am thinking is to have the lot as an overhang, that way players can dig a trench underneath the building and then use the NAM overpass pieces to bring St. Kilda Rd. over the trench.

Then again it is your BAT, your call.

Like this. I know the scale isn't right but you get the idea.

Thanks! Not dis-similar to what I was thinking, although not entirely sure an overhanging lot can be located as off-centre as that? I'll have a play anyway.

Here's my first night render post.. let me know what you think :) Can't seem to get the streaks working like I want though. A bit of sparkle is just what it needs...

I agree, should be more.. subtle? I think that's the word :P

Though the rest have perfect nightlighting IMO!

The lights are fantastic! Definitely will be an eye-catcher at night.

Thankyou! I feel like I need to do an extra good job with the night lights for this one, this is when this building really comes into its own. Here it is again from the other angle, with an update on Hamer Hall. This time its done with wall washes instead of self-illumination. I think it looks much better, please let me know what you think?

Wow. I mean, WOW. Seriously, the building looked interesting in day view - the kind of building you might plop down in one of your bigger cities just to have something different. The night lights, however, are a stunner.

As for the overhanging part, jestarr has made industrial cargo bits and pieces that are up to several tiles offset, i.e. if you place that prop (representing e.g. a pallet of oil barrels) on tile X, you will see the object on tile x+3 or whatever. I guess he did that with harbour piers in mind. These stick out from a lot that's based on a shore line, too, so by adding these offset props you'd be able to add cargo to a pier that extends beyond the actual lot boundaries.

In your case, you'd have to shift the origins of the prop so far that, when you place the prop centered on the lot, the building will overhang sufficiently far towards one side. (In contrast to a building object, a prop object may extend beyond the lot boundaries in the LE, but its centre point must be inside the lot)

One problem I see with such a solution is that this might give away the part of the building spanning the trench as what it is: A flat object floating in the air. IMO, to pull this off perfectly, there'd have to be something underneath that gives it some thickness. I wonder whether an offset foundation would do the trick... to my knowledge, nobody has ever offset a foundation, but since it's basically nothing but an underground prop, it should be possible. It would remain invisible for people who just place the lot in a regular setting, but for those who dig a trench in the way ROFLyoshi showed, it would show up.

I just realized we got some masters in their very own specialty. Reddon, master of nitelites, darknono, master of windows, Jason , master of modelliong techniques. You should definitely try to put your knowledge together!

Whatever, you're working with nitelites lkike no one else has ever done before!

Excellent work as per ususal, the lights are gorgeous!   You've got the photorealism down, well done! My only suggestion would be to improve the texture on the buildings' exterior walls. In my opinion it's a bit ambiguous as to whether or not it is concrete, marble, or something else. Other than that, excellent work. I look forward to a release in the near future.

Sorry I've been MIA this week... too much on... there's quite a few comments I need to respond to, I'll get back to those in my next update. Taking a mini break from the Arts Centre, I've started on the textures for St Paul's Cathedral. Probably too early to post really but thought you could see how its going at least.
