What was wrong with 101 Collins before? I've used it in several of my cities with no negative impacts at all!

I just want to say that I really like these new BATs of yours which come with the surrounding smaller buildings to fill up a block. Or buildings with some crazy overhanging footprints, this just adds to the challenge of incorporating your buildings into cities in a visually appealing way. So thanks a lot and keep up with both the block BATs and the overhanging BATs.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

101 Collins is now 101 cool.   Ooops, sorry for the pun, it wasn't intended. Anyway, nice new work on Crown Metropol, at least something not so tall. :)

I think whoever reported it forgot to build garbage facilities in their city...

Well, hopefully I will be able to keep both! ^_^

On my way back from Africa and had some airport time to look over the recent progress here--fantastic stuff, even by your standards ;)  The tram textures seem to work nicely in the windows and I'm happy to lend or create anything else you might need along those lines. I'm enjoying all the other projects but particularly 459 Collins Street. I really like the level of detail and there's such a great need for top quality buildings that size. It's almost in the size range where I could try to arm-twist you into an HD rendered version :kitty:

requests go in the request section. Also, there's a list at the first page of this thread where red has listed the buildings he's made and are planning to make. :)

While true it also says he is open to requests and it is a Melbourne building, I was hoping a master BATter could give it ago one day :)

This BAT thread is to share progress of my Melbourne BAT projects and hope to learn a lot from all the experts out there.

As well as sharing my up and coming projects with you, I would be keen to hear from anyone if you have any requests.

Great work on 101 Collins :)

That crown building is deceptive, so good luck and keep working away at it, i think the base needs a bit more work around it, as well as the vertical fins.

Textures and glass reflection are really good

I think you greatly underestimate your own work. It seems you're the only one who can find flaws in your own BATs. Of course I want you to feel pleased with your own work, but I just think it's a little bit funny. You don't need to be pedantic. I believe we all think you're doing brilliantly as it is. :)

Simply superb! Melbourne is such a wonderful city it's great to be able to showcase some of its fantastic buildings and your skill as a BATer as truly great.

I'm a massive fan of some of Melbourne's older buildings such as the Royal Exhibition Building, Parliament and South Melbourne Town Hall. The city generally has such a European feel. Hoping to get back next September and visit some family.

I see "100 Queen Street (ANZ World Headquarters)" in your to-do list on the first page. But why not ANZ Centre on Collins St, Docklands? I think this is the genuine headquarter now and this fantastic angled building looks so great.

Besides, the one on 100 Queen Street has already been made:

Will you consider it, Reddon?

Thanks Weixc.. ANZ Centre was definitely on the list in my head, I didn't realise I hadn't added to the front page.. added now :)

I know 100 QSM was already made, but no offence to the author of that BAT, it was their first BAT and its not quite at a standard that I would want to add it to my recreation.

Jojje- what is LRM 4, and why would I want it?

Fyi - 101 Collins is fully exported now, just need to do the modding :dead:

Those night lights looks fantastic Red  :D

I think I'm more concerned with the roof textures than anything else.

    epsg_3785_161365180635407_-4554749260213

As you can see the line between the roof sections are less obvious, maybe a lighter colour will help and yes I agree that maybe a bit more noise/grime will help.

I am not sure what the best option is for the lower roof, maybe longer (instead of square), and a lighter colour than black may help, find it stands out too much..... :???:

I see I have also made a mistake with the vertical fins, they are on the other side and you have them.

For the base, it's hard as this building is right up against the multistory, so it is in your creative control of what to do, I am very very happy to have that building right now  :thumb:

Anyways, hope this has been somewhat helpful to what I am trying to get across!! Keep it up, its amazing work

LRM 4 is a streetlight replacement mod made by Mandelsoft, that replaces most streetlights in the game with brighter and more realistic ones. :thumb:

Wow Reddon, the Paris-end is looking very fancy! Love walking around there when going on photo walks :)

Probably one of my favourite buildings in Docklands and my favourite in the Victoria Harbour precinct! That reminds me, Reddon would you consider doing a low rise community building like the Library at The Dock not far from the ANZ Centre?

Given the magical light spires of the Melbourne Arts Centre, I'm actually hoping someday for the Art Deco former Russell Street Police Headquarters...

    2655038164_47fdfa6a9b.jpg

    ...complete with illuminated radio mast!

Ack, I've made this just a request post.  I never know what else to say here, as the work here is just so jaw dropping.  If we were to twist my arm, I might think that the Crown Metropol is somehow getting way too dark around the base, such that it is hard to distinguish the beautiful black glass building from the shadowed grass and trees.  The amount of darkness is especially stark when the Crown Metropol is placed into a typically bright SimCity setting:

    EaPLaVC.jpg

It's as if the sun is not shining, or creates no ambient light, or there is no dynamic range.  This much darkness did not happen to your previous BATs, so perhaps something inadvertently got tweaked or over-tweaked.

Hehe, I think I got the scale wrong when pasting it in, oh well...of course, it's going to be a slick building once we do actually get it into our SimCities!

Great find Odainsaker.. I've never noticed that building before! It will definitely go to the top of my priority list.. I think Vlasky may have suggested this once before but I think I either got it mixed up with the building behind it or I just thought it was the corner section, I never noticed the tower section before. Not sure about the ultra-dark shadows on Crown Metropol, why that is happening. I agree it looks wrong... but based on Roger's pictures I have a lot more work to do around the base, let's see what it looks like once I've made those changes.

Which brings me to those pictures, thank you so much Roger, its amazing how different the roof and base look with those clear images. I'll have to keep reminding myself to ask you for images when I do new buildings. Maybe Russell Street Headquarters? :P . I have lots a of changes to make, I'm so glad you posted that, I always hated that hideous blocky carpark overhang section, it completely spoils the slickness of the rest of the building, but in fact it doesn't even look like that! That's the good news, that I can fix it, the bad news is that means it's not close to release yet :D

Thanks Jojje, I'll look the LRM4 up :)

That's a cool building A_, very similar architecture to ANZ Centre really. Thanks for the suggestion.

Belfastsocrates (Hope I got that right).. I think you picked out some of my favourite buildings in Melbourne as well!

I'm not making Royal Domain Tower! :P That's got to be the most hideous apartment block in Melbourne doesn't it?.. even worse than the commission flats

Not even close. So many other structures are appalling in appearance. Royal Domain Tower is actually one of the better looking residential towers I have seen, especially compared to some of the newer, curvier condominium towers going up in some places...

I am, however, interested in seeing 385 Bourke Street being made for SC4. Just not as much as RDT. ^_^

I actually like it and suggested it for the changing nightlighting on the top (can you animate nightlighting?) :| I don't see what's wrong with it but that's just my opinion- and never ever compare apartment blocks to the hideous commission flats...

In any case, as always great work here Reddon!
