That escalated quickly :P That's an amazing tribute BAT reddon. The textures already look spectacular! :D

Btw, if you don't mind me asking about something you said on my BAT thread:

The models and textures look great, but there's something wrong with your lighting. The south render looks ok but other directions the shadows are pointing the wrong way. I think your camera might be stuck unless you did this on purpose for some reason?

Just in case you need to know how to fix:

1. Unhide and delete all the light rig stuff (sky/sun/camera etc)
2. Under the application menu click references > xref scene
3. Select the reference and press 'remove'
4. Go back into Bat4Max and recreate the sky/ lights etc

Hope this helps. Great work so far :)

I encountered a lighting issure with my BAT4Max/3dsMax :O

Huston, sorry, no idea. At a guess, you shouldn't be using any imported cameras or lights - what happens if you uncheck camera and daylight system? I think you should only import the model and use the Bat4Max lighting rig which has been set up for SC4. Bipin is our resident Sketchup expert though. Suggest PM him, or Bipin, if you're reading this, any ideas...?

Ahh, alright. So I guess this isn't really a normal occurrance and is specific to those using Sketchup :P Thanks anway though.

These models look beautiful - the details are outstanding!  :ohyes:

Simcoug - at some stage we need to talk about our modding project  :)

I'm all ears - PM me when you feel you are ready to jump in (I know you have a few things still in the pipeline) and we can start to work out the details.    :thumb:

I've been a bit busy making stuff and been remiss in my replies...

Yoshi - ocean transitions for bridge pieces... Dunno! It probably won't be a consideration unless anyone has ideas?
Jazz bandit - thanks for the suggestions!
Yoshi - train stations in Castlemaine... Let me finish tackling Melbourne first :P
Re Canberra - ditto the above :P
Yoshi - no I've never been to Canberra actually... That's bad really :(
Re Southern Cross - if I make it I'm thinking I'll make it with a glass roof instead, to make it more interesting. A massive white eggshell carton, as it currently appears, doesn't make a very inspiring BAT. It's something for next year (which isn't far away!)
Roger - not sure what you're asking... Do you mean are these terraces faithful re-creations or 'inspired-by' creations? They are meant to be reasonably faithful, but there is always some artistic licence applied to my BATs. With these, I was limited by availability of references, and I had to compensate for the steep sloping of Collins Street as well. Also, before having the idea of making these into a single lot, they started off conforming to SC4 grid sizes individually, so there has been some rescaling of a couple of the buildings as well. Is there glaring errors that you can see?
    Re pipeline projects, quick status:
Q1 - day model exporting as I type
The Shrine - just needs to be exported
The bridges series - I still have 2.5 bridges to make, and I haven't done any work on the river pieces at all, so these will be a while away before completion
Freshwater Place - I need to dust off. I know I still need to make the base, not sure if the tower just needs texturing or whether I need to do more work on it. No immediate plans, but I might do something with it soon.
Fed Square - the modelling is about 20% complete. That's another big project I need to spend a bit of serious time working on. Probably be after Freshwater, but before the bridges.
Louis Vuitton / Grand Hyatt - I've done all around the base (ie LV) but I haven't started the tower. I started this as an interim project while something else ( the spire probably) was exporting. This will probably be next, or simultaneous with the terraces series.

That's it for the current projects, but Simcoug, the terraces are what I'm currently working on. I'll PM you and we can discuss what I need to do as far as modelling and texturing to realise your concept. So far I'm keeping each of these buildings and each floor relatively compartmentalised, so modularising them should be fairly straight forward. I'll be in touch!

Thanks everyone for all the continued nice comments and support along the way with all these projects :)

Yeah that's what I was trying to say!!! hahaha :D I have no issue with the front facade of the buildings, they are all extremely well done and to get them level would have been a challenge. However, I do have an issue with the roof's and lot size of the building.

    gpjr.jpg

    rhfa.jpg

The Quest (skinniest one), second from left, is much taller near the back of the building, the one next to it isn't just a flat roof, it is more of a "U" shaped building, with the Quest filling up behind it. The rutherford pearls building (which I thought looked like a bank building!!!) has a double roof instead of your triple roof.

As for the lot size, looking at 120 collins street, if this lot is 5x4 then wouldn't it incorporate the taller buildings behind it (not the yellow/cream building on little collins street)??

Hope you can see what I am talking about!!! They look splendid as they are anyways :D

Hi Roger, these are great, are these from Nearmap? Way better and clearer than anything I was able to get from Bing or Google. I might tap you on the shoulder when I'm ready to do the next set and see what you can get for me ;)

Oh, and yes, I got the lot size wrong in my post. Its actually 5x3. (I had 4 in my head for some reason)

Now that I have these images I shall make some corrections. Thanks!! :)

No worries Red!!! Yeah anytime you need images from nearmap I will get them for you!!! Thankfully uni has got a subscription, so I can just use it from home!!! (lot cheaper on my part :P ) I will generally try get the clearest pic for it. The bottom one is the most recent and the top one was from the beginning of the year, just shows the difference in height and what is there on the lot!

Can't wait to see what you do from here :D
