well since they no longer use the grid, i would assume it would be similar to parks an rec. to citylife or cities xl

I am not afraid to push that glowing red button

I survive April 2011 PlayStation Network downed services

I could tell you those nuclear codes, but i would have to kill ya as well

I'd like to see:

Zoneable park option with various items added per the size of the zoned area.

Sports fields

Plazas

built-in roundabout centers (either as you put a roundabout or able to be demolished and add your own item)

Those are all the ones I can think of now

SimCity is still being developed, just because something isn't in the game right now, doesn't mean it won't be in the final game.

A dynamic 'filler' system like CXL to fill in the ugly empty side effects of 'bendy' roads would be desirable. I'd like more control over fillers though, like being able to zone them manually and the ability to extend or reign in the area when using the fill function... sometimes the CXL fillers could be a little funky when it came to these aspects.

I agree. There should be an improvement over the Cities XL system. There should also be more sizes for plopped parks/plazas. XL Nation has made some of these improvements in Cities XL but Maxis should be able to do better.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Best thing I can think of is simply zoning a plain type of recreation, then plop in what you want, from benches to fountains. Of course, to reduce the radical workload, there should be a preset for every type of recreation so that props are placed automatically.

Here is a picture that was posted on Facebook yesterday. I'm not sure it is taken from the new SimCity though, the last SimCity I played was 2000. The roads near the bottom of the picture seem to suggest it is the new version, that would mean that at the very least there are baseball and soccer stadiums.

The new Simcity does not have zones or density options. Buildings grow based on the type of road they are near.

Certian types of roads (ie streets) will allow houses to grow, larger vatiations of that will allow for higher density versions. For example if you wanted a highrise to grow, you would have to make an avenue.

I can see this being one of the "Great Works." A massive amusement park that would increase tourism in the entire region.

SimCity 3000 hard wired excessive park placement in my mind, haha. My SC4 cities would often be a good quarter filled with open grass and stone plazas. So I am hoping they have good filler-park area. The screenshots have shown a couple simple plopable parks, but nothing particularly elaborate. What I'd mostly love is some interaction between parks and transit; mostly, the abiltity for pedestrians to path through parks. On my commute to-and-from school, I spend a good 15 minutes walking through park area to save time. Parks and plazas can also make great pedestrian transit areas near shopping districts and the like.

I'd say it's fair to expect stadiums and standard pop-parks. Beyond that it's hard to say. But my wishlist in general would be:

    - Pedestrian trails and pedestrian malls.

    - Camping sites (not just plop-able lots, preferably. It'd be nice if they 'docked' with forests in some way.)

    - Filler park, between zoned area.

News regarding parks in the preview by Click: http://www.clickonli...-simcity/14308/

Even the newly announced parks feature gives players some creative license as they can be built to feature multiple tennis courts or more grassy areas depending on what the player desires. These parks give locals something to do, and therefore make them happier, or even somewhere to go if they are homeless.

edit: I like the homeless bit! Will it affect the happiness the parks brings? Or raise crime in the area?

The idea of having like a YMCA with fields for soccer and football outside it please me because you can have basketball and swimming pools and a gam room inside for kids and then outside sports as well .

Yeah... no. Whilst you're correct that you need to use the road to control density, the zoning is done as it always has been.
