    January, 60EL: Contact

Leech2.pngLyhoko: The results of the pole are as follows: 1 vote for expanding the northern riverside, 0 votes for expanding the southern riverside, 1 vote for expanding into the mountains, and 5 votes for expanding Galesfeburg.

    GB-34-1.jpg

Downtown has expanded somewhat, though there is isn't yet a great desire to expand here, due to the still significant open areas around the city. The city hall, however, does make this region its home, located just off the main road at the bottom center of the picture.

    GB-34-2.jpg

Most of the recent development is down by the previous extension of town, though in this case it mainly just fills in the gap that was left between the two parts of town. The sort of open blocks in this region also allow for sizable open areas for the kids to play, as well.

    GB-34-3.jpg

The new powerplant has been surrounded by development as well.

    GB-34-4.jpg

For whatever reason, a lot of shops have popped up in this region...

    GB-34-5.jpg

And now, back to downtown, except at night. The farmer's market is looking a bit out of place now... Maybe it should be moved to another part of town?

    GB-34-6s.png

And of course, the map. Click for full size.

    Leech2.pngLyhoko: 0th Street?

    Space

    GB-34-7.png

Roughly 100 light years rimward and anti-spinward of the planet Maiyan a Myonian CS-1 dropped out of a wormhole on the edge of a solar system.

    Captain: Begin scans.

    Crew 1: Will do.

    ...

Crew 1: Nothing of note to speak of here.

Crew 2: Just another empty system, with no signs of life of any sort.

    Crew 3: Huh?

    Captain: What is it?

Crew 3: A ship just showed up on the long range scanners, in subspace. Estimated arrival time is 1 minute.

    Captain: What sort of ship?

Crew 4: Unknown, no record of this sort of ships is in the databanks.

    Captain: Raise shields.

The CS-1's shields activated, and several seconds later, a hole in the fabric of space opened up and spat out a ship.

    GB-34-8.png

Roughly 2000km away, the new ship activated its own shields and powered its weapons, without even bothering to try to communicate.

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Up next is the next census, and the continuation of the encounter.

    Poll

Leech2.pngLyhoko: What should be added to town next?

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Remember to look closely at which option is which number when voting. Don't say something like "3 - expand southern riverbank." 3 is expand to the mountains, expanding the southern riverbank is 2.

    Leech2.pngLyhoko: Voting is now closed!

    1: 5 votes

    Expand the northern riverbank region

    2: 0 votes

    Expand the southern riverbank region

    3: 3 votes

Expand farther south, towards the mountains

    4: 3 votes

    Expand Galesfeburg

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Please choose one option per poll at a time... but you may vote more than once, as long as you do not double post. Let other people have a chance to vote!

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Feel free to offer suggestions on how to implement things as well. Or suggestions on new improvements for later on.

Still Option 4, and I would say, yes, move the farmer's market.

And that ship looks familiar. Is it who i think it is?

I'm still with 4, and move the farmer market seems like a good idea. And can you give the link to the city hall and the white tower next to it ?

    March, 60EL: Census, 60 EL

Leech2.pngLyhoko: As this is a census update, the poll will continue to run until next update.

    GB-35-1.jpg

Starting out in a different, and new area here, to the northeast of Galesfeburg. Not much here, though, other than a couple farms and a stream.

    GB-35-2.jpg

The town of Bredli has grown a little bit, but for the most part, it's much the same as before.

    Population: 1,198

    GB-35-3.jpg

The unburg to the north of Nyuumau has grown a bit as well, but it's still an unburg.

    GB-35-4.jpg

Nyuumau itself has grown a bit more as well, with an extension of 2nd street into what was previously a farming area.

    Population: 1,235

    GB-35-5.jpg

Just some farms between Nyuumau and Galesfeburg... the farming tower complex is new, though.

    GB-35-6.jpg

There's been a bit more development down near the mountains, but as big as this place is, it's just short of becoming a town, so it's still an unburg.

    GB-35-7.jpg

Random farms to the northeast of Galesfeburg, again.

    GB-35-8.jpg

The unburg with the crazy highway interchange has a couple new buildings, but otherwise is much the same as before.

    GB-35-9.jpg

Burgburg doesn't seem to have changed much at all recently.

    Population: 1,045

    GB-35-10.jpg

The Galesfeburg farmers market has been moved next to where the highway ends, where there still are some farms and no towers.

    GB-35-11.jpg

    GB-35-12.jpg

Galesfeburg itself hasn't changed much since the last time it was shown, but that is to be expected seeing as it was just shown recently.

    Population: 17,354

    GB-35-13.jpg

And now a region view. Bit more farms scattered about than before.

    Total population: 22,441

    Population not in towns: 1,609

    GB-35-14s.png

And of course the region view. Click for full size, but be warned, its a big one this time.

Leech2.pngLyhoko: "Gurl" and "miedliŋ" are Myonian for "boy" and "girl," respectively. Make sure you don't mix those two up.

    Space

    GB-34-7.png

    Crew 2: They're firing!

    Captain: Return fire, evasive maneuvers!

    GB-35-15.png

While the CS-1 isn't known for its maneuverability, due to the long distance between the two ships, they were able to dodge some of the incoming energy blasts. However, the same was true of the enemy ship, as well. A couple minutes of shooting rounds back and forth passed without either ship knocking out each others shields.

    Crew 5: Shields at 43%

Captain: What is the status of the relativistic cannons?

Crew 6: 4 of the 8 are ready to fire.

Captain: Target the ship and fire one round.

    Crew 6: Rodger.

The CS-1 turned to aim directly at the unknown enemy ship, which brought the main weapons out of line of the target, but replace them with something far more powerful. The CS-1 suddenly visibly recoiled as a solid chunk of metal was launched at over 99% the speed of light.

    GB-35-16.png

The last few rounds from the CS-1's main guns were just reaching the enemy ship when the hunk of metal hit the ship's shields and just kept right on going, before tearing through several decks and flying right out the back of the ship, along with a bunch of debris, parts of it still traveling at a significant fraction of the speed of light. Meanwhile, back at the ship, the parts that were hit but weren't launched out into deep space vaporized and exploded, blasting out an even bigger hole in the side of the ship.

Crew 3: They're jumping back into FTL!

Crew 1: They seem to be going back in the direction from where they came.

Captain: Let's leave before they bring reinforcements. ...This is going to mean a lot of paperwork...

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Remember to look closely at which option is which number when voting. Don't say something like "3 - expand southern riverbank." 3 is expand to the mountains, expanding the southern riverbank is 2.

Great census. I like the use of the word 'unburg'.

    Option 1

Y - Develop the two largest islands

N - Do not develop any of the smaller islands, unless it is for nature reserves with small visitor centers.

    September, 60EL: Beach

Leech2.pngLyhoko: The results of the poll are as follows: 5 votes for expanding the northern riverside, 0 votes for expanding the southern riverside, 3 votes for expanding into the mountains, and 3 votes for expanding Galesfeburg.

Leech2.pngLyhoko: The results of the other poll are 5 votes for developing one or both of the two islands north of Galesfeburg, and 0 votes for not developing either. Further details will be decided in the future.

    GB-36-1.jpg
Another beach! This time its technically on the Yanar River, but it's still close to the ocean... But a beach is still a beach.

    GB-36-2.jpg
Another street popped up on the western edge of Bredli, as well.

    GB-36-3.jpg
The bad crops in the farm from before have since been replaced out houses... so is that somehow a good way of getting rid of crop diseases?

    GB-36-4.jpg
And a night view of the central and new parts of town. Not too much development, but then this area is separate from the rest of the area. Maybe if something big is placed nearby things will change?

    GB-36-5.png
    And of course, the map.

Leech2.pngLyhoko: "Böwvau" is Zukish for sun.

    4: 5 votes
    Expand Galesfeburg

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Should an airport/spaceport be added to the region? And if so, where?

    A: 6 votes
Northern side of the river, largely open and allows Galesfeburg to expand without running into it.

    B: 0 votes
Southern side of the river, easier to get to but could cause problems with future expansion and in finding a good position due to mountains and development.

    C: 1 vote
The region is not yet ready for an airport/spaceport.

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Please choose one option per poll at a time... but you may vote more than once, as long as you do not double post. Let other people have a chance to vote!

    I say 4a.

And a beach is a beach... very true. Growing up, ours was a small patch of sand placed along the lakeside.

    Everyone loves the beach! :D

I'm going for 4A, Galesfeburg needs room to expand and there is plenty of room for an airport on the other side of the river! Just a small one that can reserve land to expand later on.

A ferry should directly connect Galesfeburg to the airport which could be replaced with a bridge in the future. :)

    Great region and maps!

I vote for 4A. Put a small airfield north of the river linked to Galesfeburg by ferry which can all be upgraded later. How about expanding Galesfeburg east into some of the farmland around the highway junction over the railway?

Leech2.pngLyhoko: The results of the poll are as follows: 1 vote for expanding the northern riverside, 0 votes for expanding the southern riverside, 1 vote for expanding into the mountains, and 5 votes for expanding Galesfeburg.

Leech2.pngLyhoko: The results of the other poll are 6 votes for an airport on the northern side of the river, 0 votes for an airport on the southern side of the river, and 1 vote for no airport.

    GB-37-2.jpg

Development has spread to the larger of the two islands to the north of Galesfeburg, though for now there still isn't much here, and it's only accessible by ferry... or by swimming or flying there.

    GB-37-3.jpg

Construction has begun on the airport, but it is a bit empty right now due to not being finished...

    GB-37-4.jpg

There's places for planes to load and unload, but no planes...

    GB-37-5.jpg

The tower is up, but there's no runways to watch just yet.

    GB-37-6.jpg

There is a ferry connection to the airport to the south of it though, along with the regions only really noticeable bridge.

    December, 61EL: Unnamed

Leech2.pngLyhoko: The results of the poll are as follows: 0 vote for expanding the northern riverside, 0 votes for expanding the southern riverside, 2 votes for expanding into the mountains, and 2 votes for expanding Galesfeburg.

Leech2.pngLyhoko: The results of the other poll are 2 votes for expanding into the farms and 3 votes for not expanding into the farms.

    Leech2.pngLyhoko: A tie again...

    GB-39-1.jpg
Development has now spread down the coast to the south, with a new group of farms a little ways away from Galesfeburg.

    GB-39-2.jpg
A new town is in the area as well, but currently no one has been able to come up with a name for the place... So effectively, it's still and unburg, even though its big enough to be a town of its own.

    GB-39-3.jpg
For the most part the town is built on the side of a hill along the coast.

    GB-39-4.jpg
Farther inland, it flattens out, however, and several additional farms appear. There's more of the massive grass fields as well, for some reason...

    GB-39-5.jpg
As well as some more standard farms and pastures.

    GB-39-6.jpg
And here's the ....ununburg? at night.

    GB-39-7.png
    And of course, the map.

Leech2.pngLyhoko: "Burg" is Myonian for hill, "Rak" is Myonian for rock, "Mur" is Myonian for sea, and "Sheid" is still Myonian for main.

    Poll
Leech2.pngLyhoko: What should be added to the region next?

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Remember to look closely at which option is which number when voting. Don't say something like "3 - expand southern riverbank." 3 is expand to the mountains, expanding the southern riverbank is 2.

    Leech2.pngLyhoko: Voting is now closed!

    1: 1 vote
    Expand the area around Bredli

    2: 1 vote
    Expand the area around Nyuumau

    3: 6 votes
Expand farther south, towards the mountains

    4: 3 votes
    Expand Galesfeburg

Leech2.pngLyhoko: Also, what should the new town be named? Note that names may need to be adapted into Myonian or Zukish to fit in.

Thank You for the Continued Support!

Simtropolis depends on donations to fund site maintenance costs.
Without your support, we just would not be in our 24th year online!  You really help make this a great community. *:thumb:

But we still need your support to stay online. If you're able to, please consider a donation to help us stay up and running. This helps sustain a platform where we can share our community creations for years to come.

    STEX Collections

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
