Should be up again now.  Attempted to get CloudFlare working before I went to bed, sometime after 6am my time (I’m an extreme night owl), and it looked like it was, but it stopped playing nice while I was asleep.

I’ve turned it back off for the time being.

I have played the SC games on and off for years. I recently got into SC4D.  I just learned about all the plugins you can add to the game.  When browsing buildings, mods, etc I came across this page: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_main.php  It looks like it has some good things.  I tried to register an account but everytime I try to do it it sends me a verification email and won't log me in until I verify my email.  The problem is that I never recieve a verification email. I check my unread emails and I check my spam folder and it never comes.  I also have tried other emails with no success.  Does any know how to get around this or fix this?

There was nothing wrong where you posted in General Discussion (which is the catch-all forum for all SC4 topics). I just felt how this is where @Tarkus as the SC4Devotion Webmaster will more likely notice sooner to give you a helping hand for your registration.

As CB said, it's quite alright where you posted.

Then staff can move things around if we feel another location would be even better. The idea being it's our job to know these things and provide guidance as new members learn their way around the site.

The site has indeed been down all day.  I've been away at work since this morning, so I haven't been able to really investigate it until now, but it is just as I suspected--the server ran out of disk space again.  It went down a few days ago for the same reason, though I was able to catch it fairly quickly, and minimize the downtime.

I've just deleted some things (an archive of the old Wiki--which is safely ensconced locally on my HD) off the server, so the site is operational again for the moment. 

I am still attempting to determine the best course of action going forward.  Upgrading to a different server package isn't an option--it'd double our operating costs, and I'm fully self-funding the site at this point, with no plans to solicit or even accept donations.  On-the-fly cloud storage might be a more viable option, but I don't know enough about the technical side of that, or how it would work with our existing site infrastructure in order to really have an informed view of it (other than the fact that we'd start getting hit with bandwidth charges--currently, we're on unlimited bandwidth), nor do I really have the time to really explore it at present. 

I'm attempting to instead figure out why the disk usage keeps ballooning to the extent it does.  The previous time it nearly hit capacity was due to caching from the image proxy system I was using, to be super-hyper-HTTPS all over the place, and I managed to clear about 12GB of space from killing that, but it's since gotten eaten again, and I've yet to find the source.

My site was using Joomla plus a number of programs designed to run on it so a bit different to your website.

As my site backup program had a size limit to what it would backup (it used to do a full backup and then daily incremental backups), about once a week I ran a program to clear the site and programs cache, checked and emptied any non-essential logs .... it's amazing how big some of those can get if you don't keep an eye on them and then finished by optimizing the database files.

I may not be aware of previous discussions or mission statements of SC4D, so excuse my question, Tarkus : why not accept donations ? I would gladly support SC4D when I can as I do support Simtropolis, and I am sure I am not the only one. Considering all the pleasures (the YEARS of fun !!!) we derive from the sites, it is the least we can do.

LEX is still down for me - and has been each time I've visited for about 48 hours now.

When I go there, I just get the message 503 "Service Temporarily Unavailable. The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later." So if the site was up earlier, it's gone down again now.

Hope you can get things sorted out soon, as it's such a useful site.

The only other site that I'm a long-term member of and that also uses SMF (v2.0.17) is World of Banished .... they have quite a few restrictions in place

Pictures can only be viewed by logged in users, the same for downloads,  only website members can see the download menu section.

As for the download section it appears modders can either upload their files to the server or just provide links to a cloud based location .

They also will regularly delete all users that haven't posted.

Just a heads up, that I've now found the culprit--it appears the compiled one-download dependency packages that are generated by the Dependency Tracker feature end up staying on the server for some time after, even though they're effectively inaccessible to users after that first go.  Packages dating back to (at least) November were still on there, including many in the 200MB ballpark. 

Removing everything before January 1st ended up freeing up 36GB (!), meaning we're in MUCH better shape now, and the site shouldn't be the crashfest it was the past few days--thank you all for your patience and support while I worked everything out here.
