The reduction of rendering time is the best news so far :thumb:

I think it's all ready (Please don't trust what a Non-BATer says :D )

I second that (as well as the parenthetical). Gorgeous work. How much real estate will it take up??

Regarding the trees, my suggestion would echo Jason's - you could remove the edge of the batted base (and trees) and lot it using maxis pavers and tree props (while keeping the sunken partas part of the model) - that way folks could add whatever type of trees or greeney they desired.  Plus it would flow better for folks using a sidewalk mod (the transition from custom sidewalk to your bated base wouldn't seem so harsh).  But that is just my two cents :)

This is the first Nite Preview I've ever made

8637bc41fdf01a8d7a62e84ef3c0af67.jpg

It's a Dark Nite Preview. So it's the first time I've ever used Nite Maps. And I don't know why, but as you can see tehy are definitely stretched. I don't know why or what this was caused by.

This is the nite map I'm using

I just took a building pic from cgtextures and copied and pasted the windows into Gimp. I was told to do so by Jason. So I don't get where the actualy mistae is.

Btw, stay tuned for some new big upcomming projects  8)  :uhm:

You should fix the nightlight textures with the UVW map. But IMO, you need to add an great variety of night textures, because it's an high building and just this texture could be odd. Look how Darn42 proceeds with the Chase, or other.

You can also find model card night to add reflections around the comers of the building (adjacent buildings reflected in the glass).

And, in the same time, you can probably found an picture of your skyscraper in the real life to help you ;)

I'll send you an PM to help you ;)

Only thing I can think of is that the bitmap is not rotated right-side-up (happened to me on occasion) or the uvw map is not on the desired settings.

Edit: darknono ninja'd in ahead :P

The color of the window light is too unified...

In my memory of other BATs, we usually have yellow lights, or something close to it.

Anyway, this first-class BAT does need first-class nightlight.

I like it. The lights look a lot better now. Maybe a few lights on the roof wouldn't go amiss e.g some Exit lights above the doors.

I was told to try doing some lights for the roof. However, I'm not really experienced with lights. I trid doing some small lights next to the doors and ended up with this.

The lights are shining through the boxes (the buttom was deleted so it doesnt really surprise me, but the rest of it is supoosed to be opaque) . Also, I tried doing antenna lights but in the end I just get it done to light up the top of the cylinder I made the antenna out of.

Faces are one sided.  If your object doesn't have a material applied to it, then give it an arch & design material.  If it does have a material applied to it, go under the "Advanced Rendering Options" rollout of the material and select "thin material" and see if that works.

    Or shell it :P

Also, use one of the photometric preset colors, don't do red.

Hey guys, I'm running a day export of chase tower now :D

Also, I'm going to be sending out applications around for an internship soon, so I organized my portfolio. Would a few people mind looking through it?

Yes, it looks better every time I see it. :) Do you have any particular plans for the ground floor?

Yes, I know about very unregular updates on our team. Darn took a little break from his Chicago stuff. (I don't even know if he is ok with me posting this) and I'm still struggling with lights.  :???:  >.<  :boggle:

!But whatever you do, don't click the below spoiler!  :uhm:

There is comming something HUGE, something very HUGE that I'm using caps for the word "HUGE".

And btw, it's me and another batter you all should know and love for his awesome work.

And what we are planning on has never been there in that way before (or at least for a very long time)

Looking good, but I would say some of your textures don't look finished yet? The shop awnings around the base and white boxes on the roof look a bit flat, and your roof textures look very clean, they need some weathering I think?

Perhaps something else you could take a look at is the 3 glass windows on the top roof section, they look a bit unfinished as well. I can't tell if the stripes on the roof are reflecting in the glass, or the glass is so transparent we can see the stripes through the glass? If the latter, either try lowering the transparency, or it needs something behind the glass because it looks very empty inside. Either way, I'd suggest the glass needs a bump map, that might help break it up a bit.

    Hope this helps...
