What would you name the new SimCity?

Anyway, I’d have to say SimCity 5. SimCity 2013 I could live with, but it wouldn't be my preferred option. As other have said, SimCity by itself just isn't working.

Because we don't know yet if it will be worthy of the mythical and godlike 5, I voted 2013, as it makes sense. However if we knew it was the perfect answer to all our dreams come true and it looked like sc2000 but better and it was pretty much flawless and exactly right in every way... then I'd call it SimCity 5000

All things (specially videogames) named after the year were released look terribly old just a few years after the release. Have you looked at the FIFA '00 or Madden '00 cover? They look terribly old, their name looks terribly old! They are 13 years old! If everything is OK, I'll be playing SC (4 or 5, who knows) 10 years from now, and I don't want to feel that old. Hey, I'm playing a game released in 2013.

For me, SC5 all the way, because SC5k doesn't convince me, just like SC2k and SC3k didn't convince me.

5000? No, the reason they didn't go with "4000" is that it just starts to sound weird. As for "5", I don't think SimCity '13 is worthy of earning the mythical "5".

Yes, I would use CXL's naming scheme and call it SC2013, mrtnrln has a point, SCS is technically SC5 even if this one will be Maxis's fifth released SimCity.

EA has used the "SimCity" name on other projects (including the iOS version, which is kinda crap). I'd like to use SimCity 5, but I don't think SC13 is going to live up to standards. Maybe if the online version flops, they can repackage it as a single player game and rerelease as SimCity 5.

The new SimCity's name reflects the franchise going back to its roots, Maxis has said.

The developer sees the project as a "reimagining" rather than a direct sequel, keeping the core essence of the series while making it accessible.

"It's funny, because in some ways we rebuilt it from scratch, but we wanted to keep the essence there," producer Jason Haber told Digital Spy.

"Part of the reason we're calling it SimCity, and not SimCity 5, is because we really want to make sure we're going back to the roots and really appreciating what makes SimCity SimCity and why it's the best city simulation out there."

When asked whether this is seen as a reboot, Haber responded: "We like to call it a reimagining.

"It definitely is rebuilding it from the ground up, making sure that it's really accessible to make you want to play it, but that it satisfies that hardcore SimCity player."

And no, SCS wasnt SC5. Just because it was released after 4, doesnt mean it's 5. Just like Final Fantasy Tactics isnt Final Fantasy VIII or GTA San Andreas isnt GTA4.

I think just Simcity would be the best. Like a whole fresh star. I want The Sims(4) to be called The Sims.

Hey mrtnlrn, I've seen some of the things you've done. Cool stuff. Anyways, I think some of the original people who worked on SC4 did not really work with SCS and they are working on the next version. Personally I will only allow myself to call it 'SimCity' if they manage to satisfy for a great part. Else it will be SimCity (attempt) 5 for me.

After all these years it's just about time they care about quality rather than money. Working transit and "smart" sims would be nice.
