Community Interviews Maxis: Part 2
Moory replied to Jokurr's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
If the reason to not terraform is because of the resource side of it, then that's not a good enough answer. Maxis could somehow implement having players add the resources to the map that they create rather than having pre-built maps. That to me is being very limited on the freedom that this game has always been based upon. Although Sim City on SNES was based on random pre-built maps and I still loved that game. I am still being optimistic about this game as much as it hurts to say. There is still plenty of time for changes to be made before release plus being that this game is online-only, Maxis could easily release a fix to allow terraforming again. -

Maxis Claiming to Listen to its "Core Base"
Moory replied to nedal2001's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
What fans need to realize concerning multiplayer is that games being developed these days are based on some sort of multiplayer. Many interviews with Maxis state that SimCity needs to catch up with what players want these days. I get that multiplayer won't be for everyone on these forums, and it may or not be for me either, but no one is forcing you to play with other people. Maxis has clearing stated that you can create your own world by yourself without anyone else bothering you. I don't blame Maxis for going the multiplayer route. They are not charging you for a monthly subscription, and if they did, that would be the killer of this reboot. The way I see it, they want us to stay connected to get the latest updates/tweaks/bugs fixed as well. Look at Diablo 3; it's the same concept with players needing some sort of online connection. -
First in-game screenshots of Simcity (2013)

7 seconds to 13 seconds looks like the real in-game game play, but obviously still in beta. -
Regions in SC5 look pretty neat (from E3 video)
Moory replied to RRtexasranger's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Definitely excited for this game to be released. One minor detail that bothered me was the way cars merged into different lanes as shown on the Watch how the city bus merges from the middle lane to the right lane, it almost appears the bus is sliding on ice. -
What would you name the new SimCity?
Moory replied to I. Lostalim's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
SC5 would be more appropriate. But, if Maxis wants to revive the franchise, they will choose Sim City and develop expansions afterward. -
[moderator]They might, but we will not be discussing it here on this forum.[/moderator] Please read this. I thought I'd be riding the fence with my post.I apologize about that. I just hope Maxis is really reading these forums and are taking offline into serious consideration.

You do realize that someone will develop a work around file that won't require any online connectivity? It won't happen right away but soon after release it will be available to download unless Maxis decides otherwise.

How many of you actually would/will play multiplayer?
Moory replied to Dewm's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I may try it once. But, I can see things getting out of hand with people purposly doing dumb things to create havic in your city if your city is dependant on your neighbors industry, power, jobs, housing, or whatever it may be. The only workaround I see is letting users host their games and create "rooms" for others to join. They could either keep their game private (invite only) or open for anyone to join. Maxis may have already covered this so please disregard this sentence then. -

Disasters in SimCity (2013)
Moory replied to The_City_Builder's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I would like to see the return of floods whether it's being caused from heavy rainfall, snow melt, or hurricanes. It's been a long time since we've seen floods and it's definitely one of the top natural disasters in real life. Also, I wouldn't doubt Maxis returning Tornadoes to the game. What I would like to see is an option for the EF-scale. I doubt they would make it that technical, but it's still an idea. -
Those of you who are apprehensive or negative about SimCity
Moory replied to Clonk's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
After reading the discussion on Reddit, I feel a lot more comfortable and excited for the new SimCity. The thing I feared most was Maxis making it strictly multiplayer only, but now that Maxis developers cleared that up, and reassuring the community there will be offline mode, I am confident they will deliver. -
I'd like to give Monte Cristo some credit for their work on CXL. I have zero experience playing the game as I have stuck with SC4 since release, but I believe Monte Cristo is following the right path. I believe they are moving towards the "next-gen" type of Sim City game which some people don't want, but in reality, it's what every game company is doing. I have viewed plenty of videos/screenshots/CJ's of CXL and I am sort of interested in their direction with the game. The game has that "real-life" feeling to it, and gives you the ability to view your city from different angles that SC4 does not offer. Some of the screenshots out there looks comparable as if you were viewing a city on Google Earth. I like that feature, imo. Obviously I am missing the inner mechanic problems CXL may contain that drives some people away from the game and I totally understand that. But you have to realize that bugs are in all new type of games and I hope you at least give Monte Cristo a break from that aspect of the game. That's why if this game sustains a success, CXL 2011 will be even greater than the first. Then CXL 2012 or whatever they call it will be even better. You get the idea. Maybe Monte Cristo is listening to people here on Simtropolis and are throwing your ideas onto the drawing board for the next CXL installment. EA isn't taking advantage of extending the Sim City series any time soon, so Monte Cristo has a HUGE opportunity of taking lead in the city building game. I honestly can't see us never seeing another Sim City type game. There has always been racing/shooter/sports/war/etc games for as long as I can remember, and I can't see some type of city building game phasing out forever to be seen. One day we will see the next "real" Sim City release, just gotta be patient with it.
