Actually, scratch my last post: the huge black bar that follows down the screen is really intrusive.

I don't see a problem with the black bar, it's not as bad as Facebook's implementation - and most of the time it tends not to be noticed anyway.

Reported this by e-mail to webmaster, but here is the text.

I was on at midnight editing a new post, and when I went to post it, the system hung in some sort of loop. To test this, I tried opening another forum and it failed as well. So I closed my browser after saving the post to an HTML file, and reopened the browser and tried opening again. No soap. You seem to have a midnight rollover problem.

Got on about 10 minutes later.

Why is it that whenever I try to go to the second page of this tutorial it redirects me to the omnibus?

So uh, any help would be appreciated

For the devs: The root of this problem appears to be that the subdomain "www" is missing by default when you use the "page" navigation buttons at the bottom of the article. By clicking to the second or third page of this article, it redirects you to the main omnibus page instead. If you manually add "?pg=2" to the article's URL (with the "www" subdomain included), you are taken to the second page of the article without problems. I saw that you're working on fixing the retro redirects, so I'm guessing this might be included. I couldn't find another multi-page article to confirm this issue, fyi.

For Mareskish: In the url of the first page of the article, type in "?pg=2" (NO quotes) after the end of it. It should take you to page 2. For page 3, just change the end of the URL to say "?pg=3" (NO quotes). Should look like this: https://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/_/simcity-4/tutorials/making-money-the-easy-way-r102?pg=2. They're working on the fixes, but this will get you there for now.

Hope it helps.

I wouldn't say this is a particularly important issue, but I was wondering if being able to switch pages in "Dashboard View" will be added in the new CJ section, or if that view is explicitly meant to see what is recent. Currently you have to switch to "Table View" for the option to change pages.

So far most other bugs I've experienced have been fixed, but I'll keep a look out.

(P.S. - The auto save feature for posts is really nice!)

When viewing Table View or Dash Board view, there is an option to "Make this my starting page". So you can set either view to be your starting page when viewing the City Journals.

Reputation for posts is only visible if you yourself +1, previously you could see the reputation your own posts had gotten as well as other peoples. Is this intentional?

Firefox - Vista 32bit (I know, I know...) May also be worth noting that I am using NoScript, but it worked before the upgrade.

Known issue, and it has to do with how things are being cached. I believe it will get ironed out..

Animated avatars have broken because the forum is loading a generated thumbnail that does not support animated gifs, lazy programmers. The image next to our posts is in this format(broken):

/uploads/profile/photo-thumb-[uID].[EXT]

But the correct format, as seen on our profiles, is:

/uploads/profile/photo-[uID].[EXT]

Well done once again IPS for breaking avatars!

With the latest update, IPB have united "Avatars" and "Profile Photos" into a single photo. During the upgrade, we chose to have people use their avatars as their main photo, so that's what happened. You should be able to upload an animated gif for your avatar and it should work fine. The upgrade re-rendered some of the avatars, so any animations likely had been killed due to the upgrade script. Just re-upload your gif and see...

The issue with user search going back a year will be fixed. We're still working out some kinks with the forum searches (ie. right now they don't work at all and I have a ticket opened with IPB for assistance).

Thanks for this, they also have this issue posted in their bug tracker so I believe it has been acknowledged and hopefully will be fixed. We're goign to see what we can do as a hack for now.

Simtropolis 7.3.3 Bugs/Issues Report Thread

So what version number is it, then? Looks like ST8 to me!

Technically 7.3.3 :)

Yep, by default a lot of the board's maintenance jobs are fired off at midnight, 2am, and 4am. At around midnight it was optmizing its tables and doing delta updates to the search indices. I've told it to stop that and to put it off till the wee hours of the morning when we statistically have less traffic.

I see what happens now.. when you upload an animated gif, the animation will be preserved for your profile page, but the board seems to resize your avatar down and your animated frames are dropped. I wonder if it will do that if your animated gif is exactly the specified requirement of 100x100 ... ?

When I click on ST/Exchange the page goes blank as soon as it starts to load. I was just wondering if anyone else was having this issue?

Ah, thanks! I've done that.

@bradyfan_12: I did not have the same thing happen, it loaded normally. The screen went 'blank' just before the new page came up. (Running Google Chrome.)

e-mailed this one, but it appears to be a transient.

Okay, so this is my real post..

This is probably being a little picky, but for me (latest full version of Mozilla Firefox), the reputation counter in the bottom right stays "0" unless I +1 a post. If I do, then the real number of reputation for that post shows up, but only if I +1 it.

Now mind you, the news items on the front page do show the current number of reputation with +1ing it.

Is there anyway this can be fixed so that we can see how much rep a post has without giving it a +1?

Thanks! :)

Hmm I'm not seeing this happen at all... Tested on Firefox latest... anyone else?

This was an issue but elsewhere. Try wiping your cache and seeing if it's still doing that? It shouldn't but you never know... thx

Alright, now it's getting a bit more complicated. I did trying clearing the cache of Firefox v11.0 and am now the rep correctly on this page.

Edit: Example of the rep counter working correctly for me on this page:

works.jpg

But, I tested this out with and I had the same bug.

And, when I look at the neat little "Highest Reputation Content" page, we see the same error, shown below:

I gave a +1 to Cockatoo's post and can now see the total, but I have not +1ed tSlater's post and therefore cannot see the total.

Regarding the black bar, I like it. If it isn't already, perhaps it should be set to be locked at the top of the page for people with smaller screens.

I'm trying to use the search engine at the top right of the website, but it doesn't seem to work properly. At first, my search was quite specific, something like "city hall airplanes" and was a difficult search. But even searching for "props" (of course, having the "Forums" option enabled), no results are shown.

^I am having the same problem. Latest version of Chrome on Windows 7 SP1. I read somewhere that search was being redone, perhaps that is why.

The homepage on a mobile (I'm assuming it's all mobiles, Im using an iPhone) is very messy. Even things like user avatars are not consistent in size. It all just falls underneath itself.

Is it possible to tidy it up and make it more useful?

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but I cannot load the Live Chat using IE9. It loads fine using Chrome however.

I'm finding tons of broken links (I'm pretty sure this only occurred after updating the site)

Like on this BAT.

It links to a dependency that I need. But when I try and go to it, it can't find the page. Since it gave me the name of the dependency I could try searching for it in the forums...but wait, the search function is all wonky. :uhm:

I'm not able to download anything from the STEX. Whenever I try, I get an error message saying I must wait for all my current downloads to finish.

The thing is, I have no unfinished current downloads.
