Musicals you say? Moulin Rouge or Chicago certainly hit the mainstream. If you want to go back a little further Evita would be in that group as well.

Carbaret, Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, Little Shop of Horrors, RENT, Hello, Dolly!, these would al be great Mainstream shows.

Or, if it's a little Gilbert and Sullivan that strikes your fancy you could always go with HMS PInafore, The Mikado, or Pirates of Penzance. Just please, what ever you do, don't put Cats, God only knows why that show was so popular, it's not even a real musical, it's an insipid dance review.

Joseph, Chicago, Evita, and Phantom are also all great suggestions. (esspecially Chicago)

Come on Babe why don't we paint the town? (bump bump) And all that Jazz.

I'm Gonna rouge my knees and rool my stockin's down (bump bump) And all that Jazz

Start the car I know a whoope spot where the jin is cold but the piano's HOT!

It's just a noisy hall where there's a nightly brawl and all (bump)

That (bump)

JAzzzzzzzz!

Well... I know the odds of this are slim, but "No-No-Nanette"? it's an oldie, not too popular, but a musical nonetheless. other than that, Rent, Grease, Chicago all work well. cant wait for this.

lol, thanks everyone!  A lot of musical fans in here I guess.  And thanks SC4Boy, I try. 1.gif

I've been busy with real life lately, so I only have a few of the marquees rendered.  I'll render the rest within a few days (maybe I'll even finish them today).

    I have:

    Blade Runner

    Chicago

    Jimi Hendrix

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

    Les Miserables

    Phantom of the Opera

    Star Wars

    Weezer

    2 movies, 2 bands, and 4 musicals.

So far all of the models together are 2.73 MB, so I think that's enough.

    Excellent!

I remember Joseph playing at the Chicago for ages when I was 4. I always associate it with the Chicago, therefore.

Are you going to make a building/prop family? I can help you there, if you want.

Out of those shows, I've only seen Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, The new three Star Wars, plus one of those special edition ones in the late 90's, and Weezer.

I saw les miserables in the wonderful Fisher Theater. Fisher Building

I saw Weezer in the State Theater.

    Francis Palms Building

I sent all of the theater stuff to T Wrecks to do modding stuff on.  Lately he's been working on his CJ, as well as other modding stuff, and the modding school, so I can imagine he's been busy lately.  I'll make sure he hears your offer though, and I'll definitly remember it for the future. 2.gif

Ah, here's the offer you mentioned in your PM, Jason.

Thanks a ton, ardecila - your offer to help is much appreciated. 1.gif

However, as I just wrote in a PM to Jason, prop families are something I have already done, and I feel that I can manage it. I have already used proper building/prop families on the Low-Wealth Mega Lot Set Vol02, and I have used smoncrie's way of making props appear randomly for the MAPP a few times now. I guess I will stick to the latter method for the Regal because it has the same effect and eliminates the need for yet another ID that might cause conflicts with whatever download there is or will be some day in the future. 2.gif

T Wrecks - sorry, I forgot you were active on the modding circuit. 2.gif

I was going to use smoncrie's method of ad-hoc families, of course.

Jimi Hendrix and Weezer, interesting combination. Any particular reason for the choice?

@ Jason I've gotten about this far with the lighting, the main problem is that gmax/BAT does not properly export exclude/include commands for lighting. I used Target Direct Lights for this, included only the box in the center yet it ignores this during the render. I am afraid we cannot use a lighting for your problem, perhaps there is a way to self illuminate?

yeah, that option doesn't work in gmax.  Have you tried just putting the target lights inside the gap?

This photo (by Michi at Urbanplanet.org) shows 211 West Fort's lighting system, which is the same as One Woodward's.  I hope that helps.

So everyone knows what's going on, I asked Bixel to do the lighting at the top of One Woodward Avenue, and he kindly agreed. 48.gif

Man, Detroit sure has some great architecture, doesn't it? Too bad the city doesn't appreciate it the way they should.

Nice to see you appreciating it though! I think I'm going to start on Cadillac Tower again soon. 4.gif
