Those are some very creative suburbs. Great Inspirations to a lot of people to do CJ's. Details are essential.

Here is a pic of my suburb just outside of Concord, on the planet Vistar.....as you can see it is run down. The planet is dying do to an explosion at GALA Labs.....part of my Paragon CJ

Those last two pics are very nice. I love the destroyed look, very well done. the developing area over the farm land is a nice touch too. I'll post some of my pics later when I do my next CJ update.

Been a little while since I posted anything in the suburb section, but I thought I'd drop by with some new and old pics-

First, Orchard Valley Home Community (named for "The Orchards" of Las Vegas where I went to elementary school):

Riverside living at dusk:

And a little area from a forgotten city that I call "Green St.":

There you go!

Hello people!

There are very nice suburbs out there, nice work!

Here is a couple of mine! I'm working on a region called «Bassin de Chambly». It is located on the southshore of Montréal (Québec, Canada). The pictures are from the city of Richelieu. I did not copy the city i just used the region.

Enjoy!

Host them on Imageshack. There's a pinned topic in the CJ forums that tells you how to do it. It should be the first one that's pinned.

You've got some nice cities, though 3.gif

Actually, the farming land around the city like that looks very realistic in my opinion. At first I thought I was looking at an arial photographof somewhere in the Mid-West. Very nicely done Selles, and wouanagaine is right, that is the best developed regional map I've seen yet. Would it be too much to ask to get a street map of your region so in case I ever rool through town I won't get lost?

Griddy farms are common in North America. Ontario, for example, is one big grid throughout the rural areas. Everything was set out by the surveyors tool. That and it's easy to plough in straight lines! In any case, excellent work Selles.

Thanks for the complements guys. About the griddy farms, that's how they are around here where I live. I also did it that way because I find working with the farms can be a pain. I wanted to get it over with quick and easy. As for commute times, I have a lot of bus stations, as well as subway stations that run parallel to the avenues.

Most of the time (at least in the US), farms really are griddy like that And Selles, that is one good looking region map.

Oh my God Selles: That is truly amazing! I love the little suburban developments ringed by parks and linked up by avenues and freeways! I am shocked at how good it looks!

Wow, I'm almost overwhelmed by all the positive comments I've gotten here. I must say, to get these comments from Trixie winners and Simtropolis vetrans, I'm thankful to get such positive remarks! I've been considering making a CJ, but I don't think that will be up and running until after the new year. I have a little more work to do before I want to reveal the whole map.

So...How big do you guys usually make the Residential lots for your suburbs? 1x1 or a 1x2?

Conceptual: I like your use of the roundabouts. I would hate to drive on those winding roads in the winter! How much traffic do your highways get?

WorfoSAUR: With 1x2 lots, the house is sometimes in the front tile with a large backyard, and sometimes it's in the back tile with a large front yard. I usually use 1x1 to make everything look uniform. Also, with the 1x1 lots, it gets rid of the lots combining to make 2x2, 3x2, etc. I use Peg's random woods to make it so the backs of the houses aren't touching, giving the impression of a backyard. 1x1s also let you fit more houses in less space.

Selles: Typically traffic on the highways is about 9,800 cars a day but only 2,300 or so from the suburban part.
