A little taste of what you can expect from the Commonwealth of Paradise, which should be out before Christmas.

Great suburbs everyone.

-> Rushman5 : I like your diagonal layout, well done 4.gif

-> newyorkrunaway1 : Awesome suburban sprawl ! 44.gif   I really like the golf course too.

Here is my little take on suburbia.

Originally it was a more disconnected area consisting of small houses only but has slowly been surrounded

with more dense housing and commercials.

Probably the the whole area will soon be converted to more dense apartment housing at the rate this town is growing 21.gif

I don't know if these are good or not, but here it goes!

Sandstone is a suburban area in the cosmopolitan London County. The town has a population approaching 14,000 residents. Many move to Sandstone due to it's low crime, easy access to other cities in the region, top-notch schools, and the reputable Sandstone Community Hospital.

While Sandstone is great for some, it is not great for everyone. Urbanites will not be pleased with the limited public transportation, and the horrific traffic on Broadmoor Avenue and connector roads. The town has no downtown, and bans medium and high density residential construction.

The major employers in town are Sandstone Community Hospital and Sandstone School District 548. The majority of residents commute to Walkfordshire & Kingsborough for work, but many companies have been setting up offices in Sandstone due to the low taxes and lax zoning laws.

The median income in the town is just above $55,000 as of the last census, but many residents will argue the figure is around $70,000 now.

And now, here's Sandstone:

This is a view of the Parkside SDA Church, located conviently to Sandstone East Library and inconviently by the town's landfill.

Sandstone's Industrial District, approved by the mayor. While some residents complain it will bring down property values, the majority of Sandstonians are glad that their commute times will drastically reduce as their companies set up nearby.

2lihd8x.jpg

A road connecting Sandstone to it's northern neighbor. The road was originally intended for farmers to transport their good's to their neighbor easier, rather than having to travel to Broadmoor Avenue, the main thoroughfare of Sandstone. Over the years, however, many residents began using this road, since it is much more conveniently located. Traffic is becoming unbearable, and the mayor yas yet to do anything about it.

Sandstone's oldest subdivision, Maplewood Estates. The sole remaining lower-middle class neighborhood in Sandstone. Despite lower-income residents complaining to the mayor to provide subsidized housing, newer residents continue to buy the old houses, tear them down, and build middle and upper class homes.

Sandstone Community Hospital located on Broadmoor Avenue. It has won the "Best Hospital" award for London County for the past 3 years. Residents from surrounding towns and cities come to SCH for the state-of-the-art treatments.

The typical Sandstone subdivision. Despite being a car-dominant town, Nearly 15% of the town's population uses public transportation (train or bus). Many residents, however, shun public transportation and continue to drive gas guzzling Hummers & Sequoias in this status-obsessed town.

1o37zs.jpg

The sprawling Sandstone High School. SHS students receive above average scores on all standardized test, and the school has a 95% graduation rate. It is regarded as one of the top schools in southern London County.

1esz9e.jpg

Sandstone has a thriving agricultural sector. The mayor does not allow the conversion of farmland for commercial or residential purposes. Sandstone is nearly 45% farmland. Farmers regularly sponsor projects in Sandstone, and generate large revenues for the town's government.

2vskykn.jpg

The last area of open land in Sandstone. Rumor has it that the mayor plans to sell the land to a major developer. However, it is also rumored that a large park will be build in the area. Activists in town want the land to remain open for the wild animals. Only time will tell what will happen to this parcel of land.
