@Tarkus-It looks like Haljackey is using the japanese bullet train mod, which uses the monorail network, which is why that's happening. It's the same deal as HSR.

Lollothebest: i think maybe you should go RHW4 to RHW6 to RHW8 to RHW10 rather than 4 to 10...all the roads i've seen expand, expand gradually rather than immediately...great work though!

tommiej: You can find it here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?p=results

Tarkus: Ya its "problematically" the bullet train mod thats messing me up.  I am assuming there has not been a bullet train over RHW overpass texture made yet so it turns into the default monorail.

Lollothebest: Excellent job with the road intersection!  The RHW 4-RHW 10 just looks huge!  One comment though, maybe a multi-RHW (RHW 8) to RHW 10 transition would be more approperate because you are just adding one lane between the two tiles instead of 3 for the RHW 4.

You can see my thread on the multi-RHW (RHW 8) via my signature.

the 4-10 transition looks great, although in RL it would probably be an "onramp" or 1-lane merge (like an upsidedown Y).

The 9-lane screenshot at the very top of the page would look great for a tollbooth entrance!

Hi everyone-

As many of you have probably seen or heard, the new June 2007 version of the Network Addon Mod (NAM) was released today.  And as promised, I have updated the RHW so it will be compatible with the new NAM.  You can pick up the new RHW here.

The approach we've taken with the new NAM is quite different than the last one, and it has now been "modularized", to allow for quicker updates and to make more components strictly optional.  As a result, the RHW is now an Optional NAM Component, and in addition to downloading RHW v13b, you'll also need the NAM Essentials file in order for it to function properly.  This new file will be updated periodically, when new features are released, so in the future, be sure you keep it updated.  If you want to read more about the new NAM and its structuring, see Andreas Roth's post here, which explains things very well.

Also, be sure to read the Readme files for the NAM and the RHW.  Andreas and I worked up a new one for the RHW, which should explain everything.  There's improved instructions on RHW usage in there as well.

To answer specifics:

Orlandoedwin640:  If you haven't already heard, I've got a Modular Interchange System (MIS) in the works that will take care of that and then some.  Basically, it's a toolkit for designing your own custom interchanges.  All the ramps are broken into little pieces, mostly 1x1 or 1x2, which you can assemble however you want.  It's not in the version released today, but it will be in v14, which I hope to have out quite soon.

cloverleaf1uj4.jpg

Does that answer your question?

Eaglesmarty08:  Well, try out the new version, and if you're still having problems, let me know.

bwatterud/haljackey:  Thanks for that information.  I actually wasn't aware of the Bullet Train mod, and seeing the El-Rail models kind of messed me up.  At any rate, it would be quite easy for me to fix up a patch for that issue.  I'll attach it here in this thread when it's ready.

lollothebest:  Those are some very nice looking textures--very clean.  Fantastic work! 4.gif I'd also concur that the RHW-10 to RHW-4 transition isn't really that realistic.  There'd be some serious traffic jams resulting from 5 lanes going down to 2 in about 30m (just under 100 feet).  I can upload the RHW-8 and RHW-6 textures up a little later.  There's actually two versions, one set for the separable versions, and one set for the compact versions, due to the offset.

godjcjk12:  At the moment, no.  But I've talked with several people, and there should be some new texture mods available soon.2.gif

The new NAM is great Tarkus, thanks to you & all of the team 4.gif

I really like the ramps in the picture - maybe sometime someone can make some textures for the ramps to allow easier curves (like the roads have in the new NAM). I think it would definitely help it look realistic and very aesthetically pleasing. Thanks again, keep up the great work!

I got it to work, I had a couple of old plugins, it was either the HSRP or Road Top Mass Transit, because after they were deleted, it worked. 9.gif

Hey, I downloaded the new RHW version along with the new NAM, deleted the old files, and installed them in the order in the readme. However, the RHW doesn't seem to work- the RHW icon and the ANT network shows up, but the RHW doesn't appear even when I drag two ANT networks side by side. Since the folder that I put my downloaded plugins into is different than the default directory (for datpacker use), I am thinking that the issue is with some files getting mixed up in my Networkaddonmod folder. Could you tell me exactly where the RHW files need to be placed? Thanks.

@Moshi: Apparently, you forgot to install the latest NAM Controller, which is contained in the "NAM Essentials" download. I highly suggest to use the default installation path, since otherwise the loading order of the files might get mixed up, leading to non-functional items. You can move around the files later, if you want, but make sure to keep the folder structure, due to the loading order. The RHW Plugin has to be loaded after the NAM Controller by the game, otherwise it will not work. With the default installation, the NAM Controller goes into the "Network Addon Mod" folder, while the RHW is placed in a "Rural Highway Mod" subfolder of "Network Addon Mod".

cammo2003:  Thanks, I'm glad to hear people are looking forward to the MIS.  Don't worry, there will be some sort of walls on the elevated ones--I've basically just been trying to figure out what and how.  It's actually been perhaps the biggest factor delaying the project.  I do have some interesting things planned for the ground ones, which I hope to show soon.

Looks awesome!  With a little pathing, it should work like a charm!  Excellent job lollothebest!

Here I'll upload the image so both firefox/IE browsers can see it:

Looks awesome both of you, Haljackey and Ryanb_sc4!   Normally I would like the symmetry, but in this case, I believe it would be a potential disaster waiting to happen having cars merging into that same center lane! 3.gif  So I would personally go with Haljackey's idea.

Still can't wait for more progress!

I can fix that!  All we need is either a switch of the positions of the yellow & white lines, or we need Shadow_Asassin's texture to turn this into a LHD-type graphic.

As for the merging issues, I see where y'all are coming from now.  I will make the necessary changes.  Thanks for the input!

the tough part at making a design like this, is that a merge in real life would take up a good 50 feet, and you can only do it in one "block" for SC4. Great effort!!

I edited (very slightly) the transition by lollothebest to make it LHD and changed the lines to the RHW colour.  (I'm very sorry for the IE users who shouldn't be able to see this but some reason imageshack changes all the images i upload to png.)

warrior, lollothebest and ryanb_sc4:  Those textures are looking really nice!

PathE:  The ANT ("Additional Network Tool") would be under the Highway menu.  You have to choose to install it--if you don't have it now, you'll have to reinstall the NAM again.  Make sure you carefully read over the options in the NAM Setup.

See my installation guide (link in my sig) as well.

Tarkus - I've seen, playing with the game, that rhw doesn't have intersections at all, as my rhw crossing immediately turns into the default ant when i try to make a network going from one side to the other. Only the road has proper... is this a sort of bug that occur to me or is something related to the lack of intersections textures? Hope you understand my question.... :-D

Everybody - Do you think it could be a good idea to open a new topic for rhw intersections designing? Just for not to cover this one with texture related requests/experiments/pictures
