Consider that carefully. Unless you want to pay a lot of money for a high-powered, multi-core, super-ultra-graphics card-infused laptop, I'd suggest sticking to a desktop for gaming, assuming that's what you want it for.

I have an Asus Intel i3 Core CPU, Windows 7, 2.20 GHz, with 4 GB of RAM, and an integrated graphics card (as most laptops have), and games that my computer can handle have to be played with low/medium graphics settings, and they still lag sometimes.

I have a laptop for portability. I can lounge in whatever position I want on my couch with it, and take it anywhere. Rather than be stuck at a desk and unable to easily move it.

I have an aging gaming rig at my mother's house, a university loned laptop, and a Dell laptop at my father's place. My friend recently fixed up Dad's laptop. My dad also has an old iPad original/1, which I am typing from.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

I like laptops because of their portability. I mostly keep this laptop sitting at a table, but when my family travels, I like being able to take it with me. I wish that high-quality gaming laptops were less expensive, though. I'd love to have an Alienware laptop.

^Exactly the reasons why I want a laptop. And for the question of paying a truckload of money for a laptop that handles games, there is a decent one priced for $250 that i'm trying to get. When I do get it, I will talk to my cousin who not only taught himself everything about computers, but has also built a few of 'em.

I've only used a Mac twice in the last 20 years, so I really can't tell you. Oh it's supposed to be easier and blah blah blah, but whatever. If you're used to Windows, Mac is a pain in the butt to learn how to use. It's not any more or less intuitive than Windows, so don't listen to anyone who tries to feed you that. Hm, re-reading my sentences, that sounds impressively negative. Sorry, Mac fans, I'm still trying to work past my own prejudices and become a more reasonable person. I have a long, LONG way to go.

I won't rant about why here, but I despise Apple as a company and refuse to give them my money or use any of their products.

Also, how the hell do you find a good laptop for $250? I paid about $1800 for mine. Though, that includes the price of Windows, MS Office, and three years worth of internet security. Just the hardware might have been more like $1000.

I will say one thing only, regarding Macs: you can't do much with a potato. :P

But really, in my opinion, Macs are meant for art-sy people who use their computer/laptop to create art, compose music, make/edit photos/videos, business, etc. Other than that, they have no advantage over Windows. Windows is meant for the average computer user, gamers, and people who don't like potatoes.

Great, now i'm hungry again.

And how do I find a decent laptop at $250? When it's located at a computer repair shop and the ones who happen to be selling it had to slash the price because they couldn't get a sale. At least that's my theory..

A $250 laptop? I've seen a few in JB HI-Fi, but they're half the size of my macbook, tiny tiny screen.

I think Apple products are great! I used to only have PCs in my house, but now there's 2 macs, they aren't that hard to use, It took my within the first week to understand how to use it. I did get it through school, so it came with all Adobe and Microsoft programs, like photoshop and word.

I've used both Mac and PC before, but I prefer PC because I use it to play games and modd them too. I don't like macs because of A) the way they arrange their files and B) Safari is marginally better than Internet Explorer (I use Chrome)

Is it normal to just shrug off typhoons as nothing in Japan? Last year the threat of a hurricane hitting Connecticut was causing a bit of panic. And then afterwards our power was out for a week. But then, it's very easy for storms to knock trees down in the northeastern US since the soil is very rocky.

The only serious weather conditions we have here are extreme heat (which we take as normal weather) and the occasional dust storm. We also have flash floods, which are common during monsoon season; but based upon the scant amount of rain we've had both this year and last year - even with monsoon season already here - I'm sure flash floods are not considered that much of a threat.

I hope we get some good rain storms soon.

Well, we get storms all the time. Cyclones aren't as big as the ones in Japan, but they still do serious damage. (Cyclone Tracey)

Weather is crazy, yesterday it was 20 degrees C, today it was 11 and tomorrow it might even snow in some places! I've never seen snow at all. :|

We don't get storms often, usually winter rain ad sometimes thunderstorms but nothing too serious. During summer, though we get extremely hot weather which could cause drought.
