I think it really depends on the person and which part of the west coast you live in. Where I live, most people are interested in sports and a lot f them are from the bay area (usually they will say they are from San Jose). But in surrounding towns however, I meet a lot of aged people who are in some way affiliated with the military; whether they were sent on a tour in one of the major theaters of war or stayed back at base.

Indeed, one does not have to travel far to see a change in attitude. An hour north of New York City, in southwestern Connecticut, things are decidedly different. People are more well-mannered, but also more stuck-up.

I'm sure you'd see a similar difference between city and suburb anywhere.

I haven't suffered an OS crash in years. Though, the graphics card on my current computer tends to crash every so often. But that's more an annoyance than anything else: screen freezes for five seconds, goes black for a second, then comes back on and everything's fine. I suspect the fact that my computer seems less than ideally ventilated and can get really hot if I'm not careful contributes to this.

No, was a music production project.

The only time I ever recall a computer crashing was when I was playing music on my netbook. For some odd reason, Windows Media Player suddenly stopped responding and the music started skipping and sounded odd. The computer completely froze, with the music still playing. Eventually, the music stopped and I got a BSOD.

I'm still not sure why that happened.

My family's desktop is so screwed up. It runs extremely slowly, freezes often, and used to crash all the time. Good thing I have my own laptop.

That's an impressive amount of toy cars, then! I do still have all my old Matchbox cars sitting in my parents' attic. I believe I have about 400 of them - which is a lot, but still not enough for a new computer a dollar each. Of course, I'd never sell any of them... and if I did, I'd probably get less than a dollar each for them considering the "well-loved" condition many of them are in and the fact that some of them are cheap plastic crap to begin with rather than proper die-cast cars.

I've got a lot of old stuff that I never use, but I probably could't get very much money from selling them. Looking around my room, I've found a ton of books, a ton of Legos, some R/C robots, two toy keyboard pianos, some Nerf guns, some Lincoln Logs, a Tinkertoy set, a lot of Pokemon cards, a bunch of old train sets (I was obsessed with trains when I was younger), some old art stuff, some old board games, a Darth Vader mask, magnetic construction sets, a CD player, an old Thomas the Tank Engine suitcase ( :P), and - I'm ashamed to say - some old Bakugan toys. (They were cool in 5th grade.)

The problem is, I'm a pack rat and wouldn't be willing to sell some of this stuff, and my mom never wants to have a garage sale.

EDIT: @City Master: Number!

If all goes well, an alienware desktop may be reachable!

Trying to pool up money for a new laptop as of now

I'd wait for the new OS.

As things go my collection of Matchbox cars isn't that large. My Lego collection (also in my parents' attic...) is considerably larger.

My biggest collection, though, is my collection of baseball cards, which I still continue to add to as an adult.

I've never really used Vista. My current computer has 7, which I really only have two major qualms with:

1) The new default photo viewer cannot properly render animated GIFs (fixed by downloading an alternative program to do this with)

2) The new version of MS Paint is impossible to use when you're as used to the old one as I am (fixed by simply copying the old version over from my old computer)

The default "Aero" interface is needlessly gaudy IMO, but you can tone it down by switching it to "Basic", so no problem there.

I have quite a few Hot Wheels cars laying around. I did some research and it turns out some of them are quite valuable, unfortunately in the condition they are in I think the only place that would take them off my hands is the dump.

When it comes to my Matchbox cars I honestly have no idea what would or wouldn't be rare and why. But considering that the cars in there range mostly from 15-20 years old, my gut tells me there's nothing of any significant value in there since A) not enough time has passed, B) it's all post-collector era, and C) I don't think I have any "limited edition" anything.

Point B really the key. With anything, once the point in time was reached where it became a thing lots of people collected and people started saving them, anything from after that point is never going to be as valuable as something from before that point since more of them will have survived.

I have some Matchbox/Hot Wheels cars; not many, though. I think a few of them are from the late 80's, and a lot of them are made of metal. However, I doubt any of them are worth very much.

In other news, I have tried to type this post three times now, after clicking something or pressing keys on my keyboard on accident. Let's see if I fail a fourth time.

In other other news, it has been cloudy all day, with very dark clouds in the morning, but the only rain we got today was a pathetic three-minute sprinkle. What the heck, weather? :|

In other other other news, I'm going to the Promised Land tomorrow - California. Let's hope I don't get sand in all the wrong places and have to change on the beach like last time. I could go much deeper into that story, but I doubt anyone wants to hear it. :P

In other other other other news, Jack just sniped me.

If anybody's interested, this is a good site for determining the value of a Hot Wheels car, and no, that does not include ones you got in a Happy Meal :P
