The only reason I have trouble in LA (Language Arts aka. English) is because I suck at writing stories and our LA teacher makes us write a lot of stories. My grammar and reading comp. skills are pretty good, just my terrible stories bring down my mark.

I'm decent at writing stories. It's just that a lot of what we were doing was Critical Literacy, and that is boring as heck. It has very few applications.

And by "difficulty" I mean it was one of the few subjects I tended to get a B in.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

I skated through the first three years of high school, well, really everything up to that as well. Book learning was easy, and sitting down and doing 15 minutes of homework during homeroom was a breeze. My senior year of high school I just wanted out, though, and that attitude took a toll on my grades. I graduated in the top quarter of my class and wasted my time treading water before heading off to college two years later to have the time of my life (as well as some great challenges). I am much more suited to that kind of lifestyle as opposed to the high school scene and I am looking forward to going back to learn more someday.

I dunno. I really enjoyed college, don't get me wrong, but I am more than happy to have it behind me. I've moved on with my life; going back to school now would feel like taking a step backwards.

I'm listening to some 80's music. Currently: Take On Me. Next: Safety Dance. And cue Larks never having heard of them...

I hated English, I always felt it was ruining good books/movies for me by forcing me to have to analyse them rather than read/watch them for my own enjoyment..

+1

I hated analysing Shakespeare and multicultural poetry. The stuff we needed to right about probably weren't thought of by the author. It didnt help what we were studying was immensely boring if you tried to analyse it.

I was good at stories though. Got full marks in Yr 8 for a piece of GCSE coursework where you wrote a story.

I also hate analyzing Shakespeare's plays because the vocabulary is hard to understand and I don't get what the heck he is saying!

I quite liked reading Shakespeare. Analyzing it, not so much.

Something many people forget is that Shakespeare's plays were written to have some reaction and interaction from the audience, who were primarily three things: standing, poor, and drunk off their face. A great experience, although one that is rather expensive if you don't live in London, is to go see a performance of one of his plays at the Globe theatre (not the original, but a replica). Current prices are 5 pounds to stand as a groundling in front of the stage, up to 37.50 for good seats. I would like to do this some day. I'm not sure if they permit drinking nowadays.

I couldn't stand The Great Gatsby. It was quite possibly the longest 156 pages I ever read.

Speaking of scorch marks, there was one on the ceiling of one of my high school's chemistry labs. The story goes it was from a sodium and water reaction that had too much sodium.

I finally set up my urban Minecraft server. It took me a week to prepare the land, build the framework, and set up the server but I finally did it. It works as local host and with my laptop (home network but different computer than host).

I have no idea what Minecraft is, but I see pictures of it all the time on imgur.

I have ambitions to earn my PhD, and the only way to get one is to go back to school. Of course, I'll end up never leaving a college campus for the rest of my career, but that's fine by me.

Try dropping a tin of sodium into the school pool. My teachers did that once, someone from another school apparently tried replicating it but let the tin sit on the bottom.

Needless to say, the pool wasn't in very good shape :P

Minecraft has no purpose, or goal. Which is why its awesome. You get dumped in a massive, amazing, randomly generated world. Then do whatever you want.

Also, we accidentally made TNT in Science. We aimed for MNT and missed.

I no longer do chemistry, and thus no longer do chemistry labs. Possibly the worst thing I've done is dissolve a plastic weighing boat. I really have to be careful with what I'm putting non-polar solvents into.

Update: my friend cannot log in. His computer keeps saying things about the timer and a bad connection, sometimes saying that there is nothing at that IP. Can anyone here help me with that? If so, will you be so kind as to help me? If you help ms and my friend can log in, I will make you a server Op.

I set a couple things on fire in chem lab by being overzealous with the bunsen burner. I can at least legitimately claim that both were accidents. :P

As for water/sodium, apparently they used to do that in front of students at the college I went to but don't anymore because by modern safety standards it's considered too dangerous to attempt with untrained people present. So they just show us video of it.

(American safety standards are known for being quite stringent, what with the high rate of lawsuits and all)
