LOL Chptrk. and Welcome Back

Duke87, be careful with chemicals and substances because it may harm you. In Canada, we could still use water and sodium in my Science Class and next year, they are trying to test a stronger element, potassium.

I had to look up where that is. South Korea, eh?

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

    Its also really dated too.

How can you date creativity? Its only limit is your imagination. (And Javas memory.)

Only if they qualify. Jamaica still has a bobsled team, although they didn't qualify the last two Winter Olympics. So, maybe, if they do well.

    Cool Runnings.

They didn't win it, right? I was just watching a clip online about the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, when I saw their run.

So we've got asian winter olympics - NICE!

Waiting can be nice - as soon as you've got 2 hrs. time and are a railfan. :D

Had to wait two hours for a train to pull out of the yard?

    7 x 15 = 105 x 43 = 4315

Well, yeah, that's what railfans do, and patience is the key.

Actually, no. But if I would not have had to wait this long for a ferry I would never have made this small walk along the tracks ;)

Tons of trains and railfans in Japan. I'm not one though. I need to be in control, I need to drive. I love cars, driving them and looking at them and imagining myself driving ones that I'll never be able to own in the future.

I'd be able to see a fair proportion of the trains that run in this state by going to Roma Street Station for a day. Most of the rest take freight, and to see them all would require a drive of several thousand kilometres. All without leaving this state.

I could also go to the rail museum. Sure, it doesn't have all the trains, but it is pretty interesting. And I could get there within two hours (mostly by train, change stations in Brisbane for the Ipswich line).

On the topic of rail, the Gold Coast should have the first stage of its light rail in by 2014. It should reach Helensvale Station sometime after 2016. Eventually it should also go down to Coolangatta Airport. Whether it gets there before the rail line does remains to be seen.

I consider myself as a rail fan, and I like trains

Before, I would have to wait for a ferry for an average of 4 hours.

I was born and lived in Montreal until I was 2 before I moved to Alberta. I was always fascinated with trains and I lived right beside a busy set of tracks so I saw trains all the time. Whenever one was passing my mom would bring me outside to see them.

Around here, railfans are often referred to as "foamers". Not everyone appreciates this. Some consider the term to be derogatory. The supposed origin of the word is that a foamer is said to foam at the mouth (or drool) at the sight of a train. So you can see where this might irk some people who are concerned with keeping things politically correct.
