I see them used quite frequently, actually, and often without any sort of sidewalk mod attached. Yes, there have been comments to the effect of "sidewalks would be nice" every once and awhile (which have become much less frequent since the advent of mods like sithlrd98's and the aforementioned), but it doesn't seem like it's had too much impact on their adoption by many players, and in fact, we've had just as many people remark that they used them precisely because there weren't sidewalks on them.

I would like to request the idea of Tram lines on One-Way Streets (this happens a lot in UK including Croydon and Nottingham) and also Metre Gauge tracking for railways - what you would commonly get on Smaller Railway Networks. I hope you will at least consider the idea's. Thanks

Tram-in/on-One-Way Road has been discussed, though the main folks that had developed most of the tram stuff for the NAM expressed little interest in adding it. That said, I'd say it's a viable thing to add, though I wouldn't expect it for some time.

I don't think there's a huge market for a different gauge of rail, so I'd say that one's unlikely.

Try to remember that rail gauge is the distance between two Roman chariot wheels. Thus it is, thus it has always been. The Romans never give up.

Only in places that use Standard Gauge :}

I'm quite sure there were proably never any chariots with a distance of 3'6" (Cape Gauge) or 7'0" (Brunel Gauge) between the wheels.

i think a double decker highway would be cool

We have that already; It's called DDRHW-4. If you mean anything else other than that, then no.

I'm not sure if you can understand my logic, but will the following work. If a double decker RHW is possible by means of rail, is it also possible to use the FLUPs as a subway instead of individual puzzle pieces? This can bypass many unique peices and might even go under bodies of water and buildings.

Logic this: A recent discovery has shown that a Rail-based DDRHW will NOT function as originally intended. There's a lot of gory details, but the point is that overriding Rail-based networks so that they have car paths on them simply doesn't make it anything like RHW or Road, and what's more is that it's EXE-locked, meaning we can't do anything about it except replace it with something else.

Oh, thats too bad for both FLUPs and DDRHW. I use them more for eye candy, but thanks for working hard on the NAM.

With the next release, we're going to be changing the DDRHW from the current Rail-draggable setup to a helper piece/FLEX-style setup, which actually will increase capacity. I'd actually advise that people avoid building new DDRHWs in their cities until then.

Hi everyone...

Sorry that I'm late... Only now (after many years without playing SC4) I discovered the amazing world os MOD's, and the NAM with RHW and NWM are tha most exciting.

Maybe I just haven't learned how to deal with them (and in that case I would appreciate some hints), but it seems impossible to have overpasses over NWM (apart from regular roads and avenues). For example AVE-6 and OWR-4 cannot overpass anything, and also the RHW cannot overpass AVE-6 or OWR-4.

I could go around that by using the RHW overpasses (for example RHW-6C over RHW-4) but RHW are not good to be used inside cities, since they don't have zone access, and also one can't make a transition between RHW-4 to OWR-4 for example... so I'm back where I started.

Any salvation for me before the next NAM comes out? =)

Thanks everyone and congratulations to the team for the wonderful job.

First of all, read the documentation on any sort of limitations that both NWM and RHW have, such as elevated RHW-6S and 6C not being able to cross over the NWM networks, or NWM not having any sort of elevated version at all.

Second, drop by the NWM and RHW support threads for any sort of update and to read the FAQ concerning any of the NAM plugins. There's a big one concerning the functionality of one of the RHW networks (DDRHW-4) in that it doesn't work as advertised, so you don't wanna use DDRHW-4.

Third, check out the videos of the NAM Team Members and NAM Team Associates for ideas and development history, and if that's not enough, lurk around the forums for inspiration.

Here are the relevant links:

NAM Creations (Has the dev/support threads for both RHW, NWM, and every other major NAM project there is.)

Tarkus's YT Channel (The main guy behind most of the stuff)

Haljackey's YT Channel (He's famous for his SC4 driving videos, but there's a lot of stuff there)

Maarten's YT Channel (Also a bunch of highway stuff here)

Me (I have a few workarounds and tricks...)

City-Building Concepts (I recommend Show Us your Intersections, Show Us your Highways, and Show Us your Intersections and Roundabouts.)

I will give you a few hints, but they'll need to be figured out from the videos:

- AVE-6 and TLA-7 can cross over all RHW networks by first transitioning into another three-tile network network and back again.

- OWR-4 can be subdivided, then transitioned into two RHW-4's and back again.

Thank you very much for the answer and the links...

Now I have a ton of stuff to have fun with... I'll try to figure out what I need out of that.

Thanks again!

I understand that modding Maxis Highways is pretty much dead. But I still used Maxis HWs exclusively and I was wondering if there are any plans for Maxis HWs? If anyone is working on this, I would love to see Highway-to-Highway partial Ys or Highway-to-Ave Partial Ys (Parallel or angular to the Highway.)

Not happening, because there's no one working on MHWs in the current state that it's in, and it's generally accepted that MHWs simply take too much time to work on (especially giant prefabricated interchanges that are a modelling and pathing nightmare and are single-use) when modularised interchanges are much easier to create.

The only work you'll see for MHWs is the MHW being converted into an RHW-based system. Essentially, it's an absolute revamp to a dead network; Instead of complying to the MHW's standards, we're making it comply to OUR standards.

And yes, this is the MHW network. (Maarten's the one who made this.)

Possible, but:

- enormously space-consuming

- impractical

- very uncommon in other parts of the world

In addition, they can be created with the current NAM to some extent.

Here's some examples after tinkering with those diagrams for about 5 mins in SC4:

Continuous Flow:

Superstreet:

Michigan Left:

Ya I know they're pretty basic, but they're possible! ;)

EDIT: Xyloxadoria wanted me to make a 'hyperstreet' (which doesn't exist) but I said Challenge Accepted. This is the result.

As you can see, SC4 hates me. But I still did it. Where's my money Xylo? :P

Probably not, because they are not even created yet.

Actually they are both on the stex right now i believe by srainy , but involve a very complicated process involving ilive reader to install in the game.

And he even says and i quote "I hope NAMTeam find it soon,add it into new NAM please." :}

Speaking of CFIs, Superstreets, etc., I've been wanting to make those for some time, actually. They fall under the rubric of TuLEP-type content, so I'll be looking farther into that when we revisit that project, after the next NAM release.

And there are some limited overpasses in the Pedestrian Mall set as well.
