The walls around the water tower don't stand out as much as they used to, that's an improvement for sure. That white (?) frame at the top of the water tower enclosure looks unchanged to me.

Another aspect I just noticed: Will the BATted ground blend in with the Maxis texture you had in mind for this house (I suppose medium-wealth pavers)?

E. 19th will be another great addition to the trademark ziggurat NY set: I really like the changes made to the roof. The bleached and worn areas are very realistic :thumb:

I must say that I like rear facade of the building more than front. The details on terraces and service entrance look very nice :)

If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Okay guys I have made the night light for the first version of the building I still need to start the other three versions of the building. I was thinking that two of the versions can have terraces on the building, what do you guys think?

What the building can look like if terraces are added. :)

This idea comes from building like this:

I guess it might be feasible - you need taking a look at the building's floorplan to understand where one terrace might make sense, where they might not, where to put the dividing panels between one terrace belonging to one apartment and the one next to it...but yeah, in theory it might be feasible.

Personally, though, i'd prefer to see this one without them - and have you making one of those two you posted with them

Here's what I did to the floor plan. :)

The first variation of the building must and will always be like the real building, the other three can have things taking a way to added to not look like the first building or so they will not look so much like each other, other than just re-ranging the textures and the the chairs, plants ect.. :)

Hey, that frame on top of the water tower looks great now! Now I can tell that it's metal by looking at it, and that's just like it should be. :)

As for the terraces, I think they dominate the scene and block the view to almost the entire front of the building. Judging from the floor plan you posted, the arrangement is absolutely credible, but I think the result looks just too massive. In the examples you posted the balconies/terraces do not overwhelm the entire front of the building like they do on your BAT.

I agree with the previous posters, the terraces dominate the building to much. The building itself looks fantastic though :)

Remember though that in that picture the terraces are still empty and untextured.  Aaron, I would advise finishing up the terraces before you decide whether to scrap them or not.  Also, if they still seem to overwhelm the building, you may consider softening them up by having them less solid.  I feel like a diamond patterned lattice of wood or brick may look good for the railing.

Even when textured I think the balconies would obscure the windows to much. However if you can break them up so that the windows are more visible I think that could work :)

I like the railings you proposed in the first link (white building) - they can make terraces seem a lot "lighter".

I'd be for giving terraces only to the units that are closest to the corner, to counter the "too many terraces" impression about which TWrecks talked about in his post - i say so because, while it's true that many modern nyc buildings do have them, i rarely saw any of them where terraces almost covers the whole facade...well, if you except the first building you posted when speaking about the terraces (brown building on Madison), and this one, which seems to be the very exception rather than the norm (i saw nothing else like this in NYC so far).

On the other hand, terraces were often used, like in the examples you've shown, to emphasize corners (last two examples you posted, or 41PA) or to fill up a facade made up by extruded and recessed areas (the two buildings you posted when proposing terraces the first time) - all in all, and in general, they would cover less of the building facade.

I'm still working on the ground for the shops so it's not finished. :P

On the right right image, I have not added the rail duh. :P Also my rails glass is has to much reflection so I will be turning it down a bit.

    Beautiful as always Aaron! :thumb:

Rail glass IMO is the most annoying glass to create, try putting a light bump noise map onto it if you already haven't. (:

Glad to see something slightly different than usual :b

I would try using the same orange floors the terrace has for the balconies, as the contrast might help a bit.

The glass panes are so small on the railing that, even after toning down the reflection and possibly raising the transparency (which I would set to 1 from the beginning), you may not need a bump map at all.

E19 Street is looking amazing. Personally I like the terraces, it makes the building more unique. However, with this being a NYBT Bat maybe you just go with RL.

Wait. There are terraces but I can't see any doors... :???:  I like the idea of adding terraces but it seems for me that there are too many of them now, and in current scheme they would limit amount of light reaching the rooms inside...

kellydale2003- Thank you, I hope That can work. :)

    Delecto- Thank you!!! :D

MTT9- I think it will look odd, but odd is not bad. I think in New York City there are no terraces that has orange floor, but I could be wrong. :)

    Darknono35- Thank you!! :D

PBGV103- Thank you, that may help. :)

    libellibicus- Thank you!!! :D

Seraf- Lol I have not added the doors because I'm still moving the terraces around, and they may not be final, plus I do not want to mess anything up, most of the building is still one object.
