well... I like it... :thumb:

if de-saturating the umbrellas is easy enough, then it ought to be 'toned down' a bit, as they kinda do pop off the walls some... I like the props as it comes to life... placement and quantity is a creative judgement call, leaving it to you to find the 'happy balance'... its getting close to call -concerning the tweaking, anticipating its appearance on the lex/stex soonish...

[i would like to bring to your attention that i'm going to recreate the Parthenon as the Athenians built it in V century BC..but wait, i think that an huge glass cone just next to the colunnade offers a great touch, and makes it more livelier and interesting...and i'm perfectly right to do so, it's a sensible and reasonable decision...after all, everything is a figment of an imagination, there's nothing right and wrong, reasonable or unreasonable...yeah, really.

Oh my....Francis, my comment was certainly not intended for you, so your hyperbole aside, the only reason I made such a comment is because the building appears to differ from the image of 605 park avenue in its present form.

These awnings and extensions to the penthouses have been added over time and it can be seen on google satellite images as well as some other photos floating around the 'net. (Buildings are often altered over time to suit changing uses and tastes; I assume 605 Park Ave is no different). The photo you've shown a few pages back looks like a mid - late 20th Century photo.

I think it is up the batter as to whether he wants to recreate the 1952 version or the present version, or indeed if he wishes to make a slavish recreation or not. As Aaron never explicitly said that he was going to recreate 605 Park Ave 'as completed in 1952' I think my statement was perfectly reasonable.

Both versions you're seeing are going to be recreated - current and "1952".So it is not, and it should not, be a battle about which one of the two is more worthy.

This said, both versions gain more worth and depht than they would inherently have because of their diversity - and their portraying of extremely different realities.

Any change to one or another, to make it somehow closer to the one we would prefer, would diminish the difference between them, stealing something from both.

It should be noticed that the changes you were proposing were going exactly in that direction.

Actually, we're pretty laid back with how we recreate these things. Or at least I am. I'll admit I've taken liberties with most of the NYBT buildings I made or all really. Where you know the building is essentially the same, but there's those little things that are different simply because of me, and my errors so to say.

It's universally up to Aaron how he recreates this beauty.

Let's keep calm and enjoy his dedication to detail shall we? :)

    Thank you guys!!! :D

Please do not fight, like I said before guys, I will be making/ uploading four yes, the number four models of the building. The building will have 2 model styles but ther will be four buildings, two will be white, one is a todays version and the 1950's version. I will make a red brick version of the building that will have a todays model, and I have brown version like you see on the last page. So please do not argue, that's the reason of the variation.

1950's Model will have 2 colors one White and the other Brown

    605parkavenuepic01.jpg

Todays Model will have 2 colors one White and the other Red

The brown tower looks like a prettier version of a lot of residential structures around here. :golly:

I don't like the blue stuff on the balconies. Not sure if that's textured or not but I would change it.

I think he just hasn't textured that blue area yet guys. :P

You'll notice there's some other areas that aren't textured yet on the white model as well.

Parisian- Thank you, the lot is a 2x3. :)

    Sciurus- Thank you!!! :D

Girafe- Thank you, I hope you have it in one of your Euro cities. :)

    emperordaniel- Thank you!!! :D

Ion_Cannon- Yeah, I have to have a lot of happy faces on my thread. :D

darn42- The blue thing is like a small round chair, they are not textured, Not everything have to be textured if there are really small. Trying to keep up with all the Bat model and the GB's of images is a lot of work. :)

Francis90b- Okay I have worked on the glass a little bit, I have added a tiny bit of blue on it. :)

    Frex_Ceafus- Thank you!!! :D

Sgt Pepper- Yep, your right. Not every things is textured, on the white model there are still things that need textures. :)

Zulu2065- Thank you so much I am happy to know you like the 41 Park Avenue. :D

    605 Park Avenue

As you can see I have made the white bricks a little lighter and added a little blue on it, I hope you guys like the change on it. I still have to work on the UVW unwraps on the doors, that's why the textures are wacky. Once I finished most of the work on this model I can do the night lights and then export. :D

Edit: I forgot to Unhide The Glass buildings that was on the roof. :P

This is really nice. :thumb: I love the buildings you've been doing recently. 605 Park Avenue looks familiar though. I think I've seen a similar building in GTA 4.

I think that you need to remember how, in order to fit in, white textures in sc4 must have some "pinkness" to them. If not, they stand out very much in game. Sorry for my laziness to look up where it was argumented well. Must be some JasonCW or SimFox reply in a thread concerning texturing...

There's actually a pretty white building in the Euro or Houston Tile Set. It's the Hogan I believe. It's pretty bright and stands out, but it's white. I think I recall Simfox using this as an example with me when I was making Wall Street Plaza a few years ago. Of course I ended up making Wall Street Plaza bluish.

It's usually not just a pinkness however. Sometimes it has a blue hue as well. Either one would work. There's a few buildings Maxis did that are pinkish white, and then there's a few that are bluish white.

Let's try a slightly pink hue on this one. I get a feeling that a very light or subtle blue hue would look great though. But its purely up to you. :)

White...oh well, i preferred not to say anything about it, though i was split. While the building is white, it's not the flashy white of some Meier's buildings or some neo-modern (censured) - it looks like if it's a bit slightly toned down.Well, try looking how it fits in game, however i think you should tone it down a bit.

    Zulu2065- Thank you!!! :D

    Sciurus- Thank you!!! :D

Vlasky- Thank you, I'm using Nofunks building called the Ford Building to make sure the white building texture is not so far off. :) You can use my render to see what it will look like in the game. :)

Sgt Pepper- Thank you, still have a way to go. Yeah, your right I think blue hue and pink hue in the white bricks is great on the buildings, look at Nofunks Ford Building it's have blue in the white. :)

Francis90b- Thank you, I hope someone can see how it looks with other buildings by just using my render. :)

    605 Park Avenue

I have did the night version on one version of the building, I still have a way to go. :)

You'd create a tree World Trade Center buildings.

I expect you would will make for a new residential building in New York.

For example, I recommend Rector Place, Liberty Court, 8 Spruce Street, Millennium Tower.

Please just answer if you're planning.

    Thank you~

wnsghks42- I know I do not want to make huge projects, really tall buildings take time a long time if you want it to be high quality. :)

Jasoncw- Thank you, I will work on that once I'm off the road. :)
