OK, just checking, I'm not in uni and I'm far from it because I'm in year 8 but I still do have an email that ends in edu so am I able to have this offer even though I'm much younger. Also, do you think my school would be okay with it because obviously they will find out about it. Thanks in advance.

Three years now? Holy cow! That is longer than I have had the three different versions of max I have ever used combined! Certainly long enough for Autodesk's design cycle to produce some new versions.

H4tchetman: go for it, I can't imagine you will be fighting with your sister over who gets to play with 3ds Max!!!

Edit: Hiandby4: A student is a student, so it is worth a try. I don't see why your school would argue about you getting free software. Hell, back in high school I used to do CAD work in MSPaint (and was damn good at it)! I would have killed for this deal back then.

All fine and dandy, but thanks to an annoying website bork, I can't get the new Serial Number they say I need and there's no (findable) support from Autodesk.

Fantastic.

Autodesk doesnt care how old you are as long as you are a student. They want as many people to learn their software as possible so they will get customers that pay to use it and make money with it in the future.

I'm in high school, and my school email didn't work, so I just got a teacher to approve me.

Autodesk has formally released its 3DS Max 2012 edition on its website. As always, students can download it for free with an .edu email address.

New features in 2012 includes enhanced uvw map unwrapping, new modeling techniques, and perhaps most exciting to me is a comprehensive procedural texturing system.

Guys, Thanks for saying that it is free for students and educators...

Since finding out the free software, I contacted my drafting teacher. When she found out, she was really happy... We will download the latest AutoCAD as well as other free software there...

I'll be producing my BATs once I mastered AutoCAD :P

I think you're a bit confused about the needed software. You can't make BATs with AutoCAD - you need 3ds Max

LOL I can use my AutoCAD skills on my 3ds max :P...

I'm not confused, I'm a drafting student :P, I have been saving money to buy Autodesk software, including 3ds max

I'll be working with you next time, after I finish tutorials on 3ds max :D

    Oh my goodness.

I need to get my glow (Scottish schools network) details NOW!

I hope they allow me to download, I can access glow on my home computer, but the Scottish school system loves blocking things on the internet.

Thank goodness I saw this because I was probably just going to download gmax tomorrow.

    I read agreement carefully.
Unemployed people had also permission by U. S. outside licence to use Autodesk software for non-commercial purposes.
That means, if you're not a student, and you're not working, you can use these products.
I tried it and it worked, it seems that all you need is a real university email address.g.gif
