The sytem requirements page seems to have been removed from the cities xl official site. i could find it a week ago but it seems to have gone (they have re-written the FAQ page in was in and removed the specs). Does anyone know what the minimum and recomended system requirements are?

I think they want to drastically change the System Requirements. My two C (Cities XL currency) are that the system requirements will be changed in advantage to people with older computers. My gaming laptop (HP Pavilion dv7 with 4 GB of RAM) ran the Demo version with graphics set on Low. The FPS is poor when I set the graphics to Middle, and the game froze at High.

Let's see what the real reason of removing the system requirements is.

This is an important thing since it will determine if I can play it or not.

Can someone from MC answer this in detail please. Like if it is available in 64 bit then is it as stable as the 32 bit?

What is the minimum configuration for it to work on a 64 bit, if it's available?

Please someone answer.

You don't need to have a 64-bit version of 32-bit software. 64-bit environments can emulate 32-bit just fine. It's 16-bit applications you have to worry about, and I'm sure CXL doesn't rely on any 16-bit architecture.

As far as 64-bit games, we probably won't be seeing those for at least another 5 to 10 years. But it's not that big of a deal - like I said, 32-bit software runs fine on a 64-bit machine.

I have Windows XP 64-bit and I was able to run the demo with zero problems.

64bit Windows can run 32bit code just fine, with little or no performance hit. In fact, I would wager a bet, that almost all software you end up running on your 64bit copy of windows is actually 32bit 3.gif The exception is, like stated above, 64bit Windows can't run 16bit code. However, if you're trying to run 16bit code these days, I'd say that the software you are trying to use is probably outdated, old, and broken. You probably shouldn't be using it anyway 4.gif

Just keep in mind that 64bit apps generally don't bring much in the realm of performance. You can generally expect them to only have the ability to use more than 4GB of RAM, and atm most games do not utilize such monstrous amounts of ram anyway.

I had not issues running the Cities XL demo on my copy of Windows 7 64bit.

The demo hardly used any RAM only about 400Mb. But I can image a huge city using 1Gb+

The main issue I had was the processor. It only seemed to use 1 core! That was the main reason why it went slow 15.gif

I ran the beta on a AMD quad core with 4 gigs of 1066ddr2 ram with a Nvidia 260 on a 5mb dsl connection. When I first ran a map with nothing built, it was wicked fast and everything was turned up on 1920x1200. Place one building, and the game started to crawl as it was now talking to the server and updating my progress. The problem got worse as the city got bigger. So it didn't seem that the game was to hampered by the video card to me, but more by the network overhead of keeping the server up to date on what I was doing and like what poshbakertoo said, I was getting a lot of work on one core and little on the other three. I'm not certain if this was ever fixed or not. But I never experienced frame rates higher than maybe 10fps. Usually I would hover around 2-7fps.

As far as I know, It doesn't. I remember a player checking his Task manager and only one CPU was at 100% on his quad-core. The other CPU were working at a low percentage

I was a beta tester and the requirements were 512 dedicated video ram.  I originally had a 256 video card that played on medium with no problem.

The game does not yet support dual core but they've advised that it would in the near future.

However, If your getting a new video card just go for a 1 gig as I did and the game will fly.

OK so I was a beta tester but I couldn't play at all due to problems with my video card not being supported....

Does anyone know if MC changed it so that its not only Nvidia only video cards it wants for CXL?  I really want the

game but if it means to change my video card skip it...

Nvidia??

I was a beta tester and I've got an ATI Radeon x4650 HD and everything works.

I suggest to try if the demo works on your PC.

No game is just based on working with one video card maker. Though many games will support one card maker over another, But that doesn't mean the game wont work if you don't have their cards.

Try updating your drivers, And running the demo. May even wanna contact their support.

Same, and I use really old drivers because they're more stable on my machine, Forceware 169.32.

I use an ATI x800 pro, seems that some versions of the recent betas had problems with old ati cards like mine... You should have taken a look on the beta forum when they were up, There was a thread about it, and we fixed this by modding. However, the last beta patch AND the final version don't need this workaround to run, so if your problem was a script error just after login, you shouldn't have any problem with the final version.

NB: The demo had the same problem and also needs a "workaround mod" to run (I mean the "old" demo, I guess the actual demo patches the game before running it)

EDIT: This problem occured with the first patch released after the first public demo, so if you had this problem before, humm, let's say build 290, then it's not because of that problem, it's something else, maybe your card is too old ? If you had this problem before mentionned build, then post your graphic card model, so we can check if it's too old or not... (Should run fine with ati 9500/9600/9800, but not sure with older models)

HI there Naviss I did that and my drivers are up to date as my machine honestly is only 5 months now outta the box lol.... I just got this new computer back in May...  I did contact MC support and had a ticket filled out and gave them my specs like they wanted... The tech that told me that I need a Nvidia video card as my card wasn't supported...

Moaku I did do all the fixes as they came out from MC and nothing changed... Was still having the problem of not being able to play at all... I hope its not that my computer is too old at 800 dollars I saved for it and just bought back in May of 09 lol... I could try the demo if its still out there?

To answer your question Egod6969 I honestly don't remember how to check for what card I got here on my machine....

Hi there Simba it seems you should be fine with the video card but I am just guessing there from reading the specs.... But on the RAM you might run into some problems as they suggest you have at least 4 gigs of it.... Also you don't forget you need to have the HD space of 8 gigs as well for the game too...

I am running Windows 7 RC1, and the game plays perfectly fine other than the CTD that occurs because of bugs in the trade interface

Just curious before I go out and grab this (so a quick reply would be great 3.gif)

Would it run well with an ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics card?

I realise it is over the minimum, but it doesn't reach the recommended.

Notice how the system requirements say NOTHING about needing the Internet to get into the game and play it. My weekend's already shot, since I'm sure Monte Cristo's support is off for the weekend (they've yet to reply to me). If I don't get it resolved by the end of Monday, I'm going to call my bank about doing a charge back on my pre-order that I've yet been able to play because of that asinine "you must be online to play" BS.

It's not in the system requirements, but it definitely is in the support section: http://www.citiesxl.com/content/view/912/134/?lang=en
