  1. Trading...

Is there a way to send an in-game ticket? To summarize my problems: - Parks don't decrease pollution from Heavy Industry and Manufacturing; - Business Hotels don't work. Players give advice to build them on roads where there are many Passengers; - Public services have too little effects when the city gat some size. They are too expensive. Either the maintenance costs must be decreased, or they must be more effective; - If you want to buy tokens by means of trading there is no confirmation messagebox. Actually it is not possible to buy tokens. Because of lack of tokens you cannot improve your city; - Game is frozen for several seconds because it is waiting for response from the server. I am willing to pay monthly costs for this game, but the requirement is that I am supposed to have fun to play it. If this continue, I will not buy more playing time, and I will spend my money for other things. I will continue playing WoW, because that gives me fun, so there is no reason to stop playing that game.
  2. Trading...

Jeremy, Can you make your text more readable? BTW, I stay on my decision. The lag is gone at 15th of Jan 2010, or I quit. I think I cannot do much if the trading system is not working. It is a server side issue, not my behaviour or strategy. If this is solved, I can see what I am doing wrong, and cannot pass 200,000. At this moment, I can't use your suggestions.
  3. Trading...

Today trading was very poor. I wasn't able to trade sufficiently. Each time I am checking the trading window, my game freezes waiting for a response of the server. I am willing to make cities and destroy them after reaching 200,000 citizens, but not forever.\ If the game isn't better at 15th of January 2010, it is finished for me. If trading isn't way better at that time, I am not willing to pay money for this game. I will spend my money for better things. So, Monte Cristo, do something about trading. Improve it, or I quit.
  4. Blueprints out! Who got lucky?

I got St. Patrick's Cathedral, but I tried to build it right now. Due to poor trading, I had to shut the project down. Trading should be better.
  5. Pollution Levels

I was told as well to build parks, in order to reduce pollution. WIthout any success. So I try to build cities without any industry. I build a lot of offices and sell the Office Services. The extra money I use for buying Heavy Industry, Manufacturing, anything my city is asking for, or is demanding. I use Manufacturing for High Tech industry which does not cause pollution. It is possible, but you must do some heavy trading. At one side that is a challenge, at the other side I have no other choice.
  6. Miscalculation?

Why isn't that listed in the budget frame?
  7. Miscalculation?

Something is strange going on: - I have 43866 income (taxes) and 25352 expenses (22000 services, 2824 transportations, 528 city). How can that give a cashflow of just 4414? What am I missing?
  8. Game Difficulty Level

Maybe there will be good books about this game in the near future, who knows. Maybe you could buy that book. Although I start to know how to play it, I want to have a good book too... I haven't look in the hard drive's directory in which the game is installed, for a PDF file with a manual in it. Believe me, I have started various cities. In the beginning my cities went bankrupt before they reach 100,000 citizens. Later on I got in troube at 200,000. Now I have a city without Industry and Manufacturing but heavy trading, close to 300,000 cities without any threat of bankruptcy.
  9. Game Difficulty Level

I don't find it a hard game to play. It is challenging because the success of the category of buildings depends on the other buildings. There is something in Settlers and Caesar that I find back in this game. You need Fual for Industry. You need Industry for Manufacturing. You need that for High Tech. And you need that on its turn for Offices. It is a chain of needs and offers. That is what actually attracts me in the game. My challenge was to build a city where there is no industry and no polution. Is that hard? No, not if you excessively trade with others or with Omnicorp. I took this challenge, because I got fed up with pollution which I couldn't master. It makes the people unhappy and offices, hotels etc. less profitable. My background: I am a 43 years old man with autism and with high intelligence, able to master things quickly. Cities XL is a challenge to master and I like it.
  10. Buildings from your country

I am curious what buildings of your country have you seen being added. From what country are you, and what buildings have seen as options for being built? My answers would be: - I am from the Netherlands; - The buildings I have seen is the Westerkerk. The Rijksmuseum has been announced to be added but I haven't seen it in the game. There is also a Church of St. Nicholas, but I don't know in what country the building has been "used". The name makes me think of the St. Niklaaskerk in Belgium.

I asked this question in the on-line part of the game. The vey solution is: I should build as many buildings from the same service as possible. They should vary a little. So if a part of my city is complaining about too little Leisure, I should build Sport and Cultural Leisure buildings and if possible from each available building one per kind.

(Is it just me?)quote> I have to look at point 4 and 6. 6. I think I can rotate the camera freely by pressing (not moving up or down) the mosewheel and move the mouse. I can confirm 7 and 9. 7. I want the game to be less sensitive to the mouse movements when pushing the mousewheel down. 9. There where server issues. The MC staff is aware of it. Not bugs, but some things that frustrated me: Given the fact that road construction is extremely flexible, plots for houses etc are incredibly NOT flexible. You get the same square plot for everything and when there is even a tiny mismatch you won't be able to put a house there. This not only made the houses on curved streets look bad because they weren't flush with the road, but this also meant that once you decide you want a bigger street there you had to destroy the houses around it. Sure, it may be realistic, but in these types of games its just annoying. Because of a couple pixel difference you can no longer plot anything in its place other than those 'decorations'. I'm willing to play more to see if I can get passed this issues and get into more in depth details I have yet to get into, but as of now playing this game is more of a chore than fun. I wish I could have gotten the demo first, but then they wouldn't have gotten my money so I guess it was smart of them to not offer the demo anymore quote> The interface should be less strict on it. I want to improve the road without destroying the building, unless I replace the road with a highway or a highway junction connecting 3 or 4 highways.

You can still go to Windowed mode and back by pressing on F2.
  14. The Burning Question Thread

I don't know if it is me, but sometimes I feel that the buildings like Fire Stations, Police Stations, Educational and Health buildings have a poor influence. If there is a part of the city that is unsatisfied about the health (orange - red) and I place a Health building, like a clinic or a hospital, the citizens stay unsatisfied. The speed that they go from unsatisfied to somewhat content (greenish yellow) or happy (somewhat dark green) is too low for me. People don't want to live in an area where the clinic is too young. The problem is that the clinic has maintenance costs, but the effects are too little. I must bulldoze down the clinic to decrease the money loss, or to increase the income... What do I do wrong? What am I missing?
  15. Retail Goods

When my city reaches the population of 120,000 I come into trouble because the Shops cannot get rid of Retail Goods. There is also no way to export it. I am told that I must build more housing but the problem persists. Because Shops cannot sell Retail Goods they go bankrupt, and I miss my income. Who has an idea?
