Actually, I'd expect it to be closer to 4,000.  Dirk has 3,815 posts, but I don't think he has a blog or CJ.  I don't recall seeing anything he's uploaded to the STEx, but he may get points there for comments he may have made.

Unfortunately, as owner-operator of SimTropolis I'm sure Dirk spends a lot more time maintaining the site than he gets to actuallly use it.

I wonder what the point (ha!) of this point system is... there doesn't really seem to be much of a use for it except for people to go "yay, i have so and so points"...

I could be wrong though.

That, and I'm sure Dirk derives a great amount of fiendish pleasure from watching us try to figure it out.  Remember, he can change the formula any time we get too close 38.gif

Wait a little longer and a pop-up appears, explaining why you got so many points. I haven't noticed that '?' before though.

There should be Trixies for most earned points per year or something. And I know with all the scripting of this counter to be embedded into the points system maybe a hassle. But it's just a consideration not to consider 3.gif

Imagine how boring Simtropolis would be if we didn't have Duke here to point out all the strange little oddities of this site 3.gif

Yea, you wouldn't need to worry about having low karma, you're fine. Just wondering, because there is a karma-like system in thr CJs.

Why does everyone always have 1 point in the CJ comment section?

You automatically get a point for making a comment. You get more if other users rate it thumbs up.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. I got 3,226 points. How many does it take to change my smiley face and to change the "Member in Good Standing" thing?

Since (as far as I know) the only other option is to not be a Member in Good Standing (that is, banned) you probably don't want that to change.

894. Personally, I'm surprised it wasn't lower.

Just reached this today! 39.gif

On a side note, I think that big grin smiley comes with 5000 points or higher. If it's still around, that it.

Yes, this is kitty.

Hmm, I have more points than chptrk? Hehe... But I also had a question: sometimes I login, and I have sometimes as many as 40 new points. Why is that?

Could anyone please explain to me what those "points" are that I'm racking up....  the ones up in the top right hand corner of my screen that continue to go up?

Sorry to bother, but I was just curious....

Well it doesn't seem that one post is one point...I've gotten as many as three per post...
